It was a great place to stay. The room was very clean & the room had very good soundproofing. The bed was super comfortable. The balcony area was great, too.
The proprietors were welcoming & very informative on the things of interest & places to eat.

Lots to do here. Great shops and cafes/restaurants. You must sail on the Fox II to see the dolphins, penguins and seals and learn about the local history. Outstanding!
Very walkable town and also some good hiking.

Akaroa is a must-visit township, it has some amazing cafes/restaurants, and the food is great and varied. Some of them have both inside and outside seating so it is lovely to take advantage of that on a nice day. There are also some great wee shops to visit where you can find a treasure of two. We found a gin-tasting cafe that is a must-visit when you are there and also an Indian Restaurant whose food was amazing. All the shops and cafes are within walking distance if your accommodation is in town. There are some great walks to go on and we also went swimming with the dolphins which is an experience I highly recommend when you are in Akaroa.

We loved the quaint historic town.
We loved the quaint historic town. We loved its French flavour. The cafe’s and restaurants outstanding especially Ma Maison where we had the best meal ever. The food, the flavours and the welcoming staff, outstanding! We had breakfast at The Common, again fabulous. We loved walking round the bay to the quay. Everyone was so friendly and happy to stop and talk. At the end of the quay was the prize, the beautiful pearl shop, an absolute must to visit. We can’t wait to return. Already planning a longer trip.

I have been a regular visitor as my French ancestors founded it. The only thing that stops me coming more often is that dangerous-feeling hill up and down. Nice, quiet (mostly) place that focuses on food, events and nature. Need to put in a lot more effort to add more genuine French flavour to shops and activities. A simple Bonjour is not too difficult. Akaroa's true French nature is being dumbed down by new arrivals who are only interested in commerical gain.

I had heard about the bottle nosed dolphin cruise but it was cancelled, as the night before there were ferocious winds. The trip to Akaroa was pretty hairy because of the winding mountain road, overlooking deep valleys and there were no guard rails. However, the scenery is very nice, although the town itself is a true tourist trap.
COVID is tuff on hotels and hospitality small things can always be improved over time after the recovery of this pandemic, having a fan in the rooms being summer would be great and even having a small fridge would be a blessing ,the lady singing mid afternoon was so refreshing great musian I felt I was on holiday for the first time in a whole year when the music reached our room and from the balcony 😀 perfect 🥰
2 bedroom waterfront villa with beautiful views. We stayed upstairs which is a flight of stairs no lift. Room had 2 balconies to sit out on. One off the lounge room and one off the bedroom connecting. Had a lovely kitchenette, wifi, comfortable bed. In town location with a 5 minute walk to restaurants and the wharf for boat trips. This is our second stay here in beautiful Akaroa.
The location - peaceful, lovely view of Akaroa township. Woodburner worked well, plenty of kindling and logs. Wifi worked well. Kitchen is small (no oven) but okay for a single cook / simple meals. We enjoyed the short walk from Overton Cottage to Akaroa via the mostly private walkway. Much nicer and safer than walking beside the highway. Take a torch if walking back at night.
What a gem! We had a fabulous stay here - the location is perfect for exploring the town, the room was super clean and comfortable, and breakfast was amazing. We especially loved spending time in the sitting room with the fireplace going - so cozy! Jacqui and Tim are wonderful hosts. If you're planning to visit Akaroa, look no further for the best accommodation!!
Really? 5 star Michelin rating for our breakfasts. View from the B&B toward Akaroa delightful. The hosts were both helpful with touring advice and very pleasant. We left feeling sad to leave them both.
Note: The entire B&B is spotless and beautifully furnished.
They are the place to stay on the Banks Peninsula.
Wonderful little cottage so close to Akaroa, we had a lovely three nights. A 15 min walk down to the town was perfect and another couple of minutes to the beach. The cottage was great and had everything we needed for our couple days. Highly recommend this cottage it's a perfect base for exploring Akaroa!
The whole experience whilst only an overnight stay was what we were looking for at the end of our 30+ day NZ holiday.
Akaroa was much like we expected and really not too far from Christchurch airport ( 1hour 45 min ) Property was just great as was the host and the included breakfast was delicious.
We have stayed at Les Troupes Apartments before so new what we were going to.It was cold the 1st morning and took a while for the place to heat up-no heat pump -just a fan type heater upstairs. We like how we can walk around Akaroa and not have to use the car.Lovely long weekend.
The house is a very cute and comfy little home with a great view of the waterfront. We loved the layout and how tidy everything was. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge a comfy spot to sit and read your book. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was a generous size
This is a very good condition motel with both the interior and exterior looking recently renovated. It is located at the entrance to the village and within easy walking distance to the waterfront, many restaurants, shops, and a supermarket. Parking is onsite.
We were given an upgrade to a top-floor room with a fabulous view. Everyone at the hotel was welcoming and helpful. They let us use their washing machine at a very reasonable rate, which was a huge help on a long trip. The best hotel we stayed in all holiday
Stunning place! Beautiful rooms with a kitchen and dining room that make you feel at home.
The garden is beautiful, full of fruit trees, and so serene.
Cor and Margo went above and beyond to make us feel welcome 🙏
Just a quick drive to Akaroa!
Beautiful out of town location with views over the harbour . kitchen fully fitted with bbq on terrace area. communal grounds to a set of holiday cottages, but all with privacy. Masses of information about the area and new zealand.
Setting was private and tranquil. Cottage was spotless and well appointed. Great kitchen area and bathroom. Spacious inside and out. Lovely grounds and setting for walks, very quiet at night. Loved the song of the Bellbirds.
so unique, location at center of town, comfortable size, very clean, the coffee and pastry around the corner, happy hour at the corner bar, 2 parking spots with unit. Nice spot to be in Akaroa.
Location was an easy stroll to the waterfront, wharf, restaurants and shops. The apartment was well set up with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an extra toilet. All very clean and comfortable.
Central- walking distance to beach, shops and restaurants. Good for a stay of a few days, while exploring Akaroa.
Good fish and chiips just around the corner!
