Invercargill has a lot to offer. Queen's Park is a must-see. Aside from the beautiful gardens, there are nice bird aviaries and farmyard animals. It's a great place for families with a nice playground and cafe. Bill Richardson Transport World is a highlight, along with Oreti Beach which Bert Munro used as a race track. Hubber's Emporium and E Hayes are fantastic shops with many interesting things to see. There is a nice new mall and we found some good places to eat

Queens Gardens are a must, especially at rose time. Ascot dinner excellent though a bit pricey.
I doubt anybody visits for he shopping ( e.g. one "mall " ) or eating out which is quite restricted.

This is a clean city with no obvious homelessness problem.
This is a clean city with no obvious homelessness problem. It is well provided with facilities and retail outlets. Some of the shops like Hubber's Emporium are just fascinating. The people are friendly. It is close to Bluff and marvelous beaches. I've heard it's not so good on a rainy day, but I wouldn't know. I would love to live in Invercargill but I feel they don't need more "northies" to come and push property values up. I will remain a grateful tourist.

Don't take too much notice of people who complain about the weather, it usually means they went in mid-winter, or have never been there and just like to jump on the band-wagon of bashing Invercargill. There are lots of fun things to see and do in and around Invercargill. It's developing a decent bar/night life vibe too, with some great places to sample craft beer and great food (The Tap Room in Dee St is a great place to start). Its population is about 55,000, so don't expect Las Vegas. It's a small and rapidly evolving city, surrounded by great parks and loads of natural wonders within an hour or two's drive. The locals are friendly, so if you get lost, just ask, they'll be more than happy to give you plenty more tips on what to see and do. Have fun!

Art gallery closed. city was ok for shops but the new shopping centre was still being finished. restraunts were good. The Bluff look out was lovely and the end of NZ sign was fun to go to. We drove on the beach and had lunch, unfortunetly we did not see the Southern Lights just missed by a day or two

We had a great time at the Motor museum.
We had a great time at the Motor museum. The kids loved it and the cafe was wonderful. The streets are wide and easy to get around. We ate at Buster Crabb restaurant and it was amazing, high quality food with outstanding service. There were some beautiful green parks to see too. Definitely want to come back and see more.
Out in the countryside in a beautiful family home with stunning gardens and resident deer only 5 mins drive from Invercargill town. Bed comfortable, lovely towels, lovely breakfast with homemade muesli, stewed apricots, homemade jams, eggs if you want them. Great local knowledge for sights and places to visit. Anne-Marie and John and family are very welcoming. Evenings you can use kitchen to heat up simple evening meals if you prefer to eat in.
Good location. We were able to walk to all the motor tourism things (Motorcycle Mecca, E Hayes, and Transport World). Transport World is the farthest. Countdown market directly across the street. NOTE: Alcohol in Invercargill is not available at grocery stores. Liquor store was not more than 10-minutes walk away. Restaurants probably 15 minutes walk. We only spent one night.
Comfortable bed with a large, clean bathroom. The location is what I would consider at the edge of walkable distance to the center of town—no real complaints for anyone needing a short stay in Invercargill. Close enough to everything you need in a pinch, like supermarkets. TV, microwave, a mini-fridge, and a large closet round out a well-supplied room to stay in.
What an absolute delight. I could not fault this lovely welcoming hotel. The staff were amazing and extreme friendly and helpful. The added little touch of the beautiful tea cups and coffee cups in the room with a fresh bottle of milk was above and beyond. I have and will recommend to everyone going to Invercargill to stay at the Langlands hotel.
It was the perfect home away from home! With a market walking distance it gave more options for eating. The room was lovely and the hosts were the perfect hosts. Quick to respond to any inquiries as well as accommodating when I asked about checking in early. I look forward to staying there on my next trip to Invercargill!
Beautiful room, comfortable beds and amazing shower. It was quiet and we had a really good sleep. The carpark was right in front of our hotel room.
We tried both dinner and breakfast there and the food was good and restaurant staff very friendly. Great breakfast options also. Would stay again when in Invercargill.
Excellent location. The hosts were so kind and welcoming. The room was huge and everywhere was spotless. Breakfast was very satisfying - including fruits from their garden. We were so well looked after and it felt like home from home. If we are ever able to come to Invercargill again, we would definitely stay here.
This was one of the best motels I have stayed in! Clean, well maintained, lovely furnishings and amazing water pressure in the shower.
Also a bonus having onsite laundry facilities.
The staff were friendly and always happy to help.
Highly recommended.
The apartments have all what you need and they are spotless. The staff at the reception (young Philipino lady, I'm sorry I forgot the name) is exceptional and really accommodating. We will definitely stay again if we need to go to Invercargill.
Great location. Easy parking. Brand new luxury accommodations. Very comfortable room with spacious bathroom that includes soaking tub. Great staff. Lots of dining options right in hotel.
Spacious living and kitchen area and have two good size bedrooms. The reception lady provided a good introduction of Invercargill and bluff and gave us maps.
We have stayed in many motels over the years and this would be our favourite!!!! The owners were fabulous and the motel was large, modern and super clean!
