This is one of the most opulent places I have ever stayed. The rooms were enormous the furnishings exquisite. We arrived late from the ferry and the property brought up complimentary wine and cheese into our room!
A surprising luxury stay in a small quiet little town!

Charming waterfront and very child friendly.
Charming waterfront and very child friendly. The pirate boat play area and splash pad is so nice for the little ones. We only walked around the centre up to the walkway bridge which present a marvelous view. As we are not trekkers, we only passed by Picton to proceed to Nelson from Wellington, and as overnight stop for the Interisland ferry back. There were many road closures when we visited. Perhaps next time, we will explore the surrounds.

A lovely little town with some fabulous walks.
A lovely little town with some fabulous walks. Stay a couple of days after getting off the ferry instead of just driving through. ( Although a little busy when a cruise ship arrived in port, but they are not there every day!)

Great place.
Great place. We stayed at Picton Campervan Park and it was a great walking distance to pubs and town. They have cabins that are absolutely spotless and so comfortable. The beach and foreshore are just alive with people, watching all the flash boats coming and going. Sitting on the veranda of the Waitoi Tavern, sheltered from the sun and enjoying conversation with friendly people travelling was just tops. And the meals at the Waitoi Tavern were value for money in comparison to the other pubs. Fish was so fresh! and plenty of it on the plate! We only stayed two nights, just wasn't long enough, already planning another trip!

Picton is the gateway to the Sounds.
Picton is the gateway to the Sounds. We were meeting our daughter and husband to make daytrips on their yacht to outer bays, sailing and fishing, but there are water taxis which will drop/collect to various bays for swimming and fishing. There are lovely walking tracks. Nice place to visit.
The location is just perfect if you are traveling by public transportation. Max. 5 min walk to ferry, train and bus stops. Main shopping street with many restaurants and bars just 1 block away. The harbor with green area and yacht docks just across the street.
The staff give a warm welcome and are very friendly.
The social room well equipped with comfortable armchairs, books, games, and music instruments (even a piano).
Kitchen clean and has all you may expect from a youth hotel, and the staff are there to help with anything.
Staying at the Picton Yacht Club Hotel was perfect for us as a stopover on the way through from the South to the North Islands. Next time we will stay longer as the PYCH was ideally placed to explore this pretty region.
We were given a warm welcome on a cool night and found the restaurant to be very good. It was just a few minutes walk with suitcases to the ferry terminal the next day. The staff were excellent and the hotel itself proved to be a great sanctuary, with lovely views and comfortable beds.
Easy to find, park right in front of the room. Friendly management/owners. Let us use the laundry for free. Room was cozy, clean and comfortable. Shower was great with lots of hot water. Actually one of the best hotels we have stayed at in 8 weeks traveling New Zealand. Table and chairs on the small porch if you care to sit outside. Short walk to the oldest pub in town which serves good pub food and specials every night. My go to hotel in Picton if we ever return!
Unbelievable! We saw a rare native white spoonbill wading in front of the hotel. And ducks visited us for bread. I wish we could have stayed longer as it was calm and idyllic. This hotel is now our favourite and we will be staying every time we drive through. Wonderful lady greeted us and made us feel at home. Cleanliness is extremely important to me, and the place was spotless. The linen was perfect and the bed comfortable.
Thank you so much 😊
The property was very close to the main streets. There were lots of eateries just around the corner from the hotel in easy walking distance. It was a 5 minute walk to the train station and the ferry terminal. Very close to the Picton foreshore as well. Staff were very friendly and had our room ready to check in when. We arrived.off the ferry earlier than stated. They were happy.to hold our luggage as well if we had to wait for check-in.
Excellent location close to shops, restaurants and the ferry. Coral was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for walks and dinner suggestions. This is an historic building, not a purpose built hotel, so don't expect a huge room but ours was comfortable and all we needed. There was a light continental breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit and yogurt.
Owners are very friendly and helpful
The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable
Area right in town and pretty quiet considering being right in the middle.
Restaurants either side of us as well as Hotels
Food awesome in the two hotels three shops either side of motel
Thank you we will be back
PS The trike was bloody awesome 👍👍

Wilkes Way Villa was our favorite accommodation of our entire trip! The home is lovely and the apartment very spacious, clean and comfortable. The hosts have made their living room, kitchen, laundry room, yard and outdoor patios very accessible. There were so many lovely personal touches! It was a 5 minute drive into Picton. 10++
Eva is super friendly and helped me plan my trip around Picton. She gave me information on the water taxis and which track to hike. Eva recommended a very good wine to try! If you have questions or need help planning your trip around Picton, Eva is your person!
The location is spot on, virtually waterfront and a room with a view. I love Picton and think its underrated. This motel is fine and reasonably priced for its facilities and convenience. Well functioning bathroom, extra pillows etc and comfortable.
Very central. You can walk anywhere but then again Picton is a small town. They offer breakfast, it’s simple but it’s better than nothing. Very spacious. Nice backyard. I liked that my room (private room) had its own sink with warm water.
Great location with an amazing view of Picton Harbour. Nicely furnished and comfortable for either a short or long stay. This was our second stay with these hosts in this apartment building and we would definitely stay here again.
Pure luxury, the most beautiful apartment we had so far. Stunning views onto Picton and Queen Charlotte Sound. Lots of space, fully equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed the evenings in front of the fireplace. Just like home.
Super spacious, and awesome facilities. The staff was amazing and very accommodating! I felt very welcomed by the friendliness that was on offer. If I’m ever in Picton again I will be coming back to Harbour View Motel!
Good boutique hotel that well operated , in good location, with beautiful room, great bathroom, great bed and excellent restaurant. Very good value for money ~ one of best in Picton. A real quality experience
The towel display was lovely. All the shampoos and soaps are 5 star standard. It's like staying at a5 star hotel . The location is good too with the supermart just across the road.
