The house is so charming and right near all of Akaroa’s restaurants and shops. Breakfast was such a highlight — we loved getting to know other guests and of course Tim’s amazing food!

Having a sitting room with inviting comfortable furniture with a whole library, wall was super inviting, and we took advantage of it. The complementary glass of wine on arrival was pretty wonderful. They offered a cooked breakfast as well as a cereal option. The owners were very involved in the breakfast – making The eggs anyways, you want them and had gluten-free options for toast. Each room did not have a small refrigerator, but the owners let it be known that we could use the one in the kitchen, which we did. Their garden was a cottage style populated with beautiful roses, and other flowers and flowering shrubs. We enjoyed the front porch with Its extra wide swing & comfy pillows.

Beautifully restored building, perfect location. Wonderful hosts, breakfast was very good, character filled house would recommend and definitely stay again. The glass of port on the porch under the stars was the perfect end to the evening.

Jacquie was an amazing hostess and went out of her way for our comfort… For example, when we had an early morning activity scheduled, she came early to make us a beautiful breakfast! When we returned from a cold rainy kayak, she had a beautiful warm fire made for us in the sitting room! This kind of hospitality was so much appreciated!

This hotel was a great find and in a perfect location. Jacqui was a wonderful hostess, with nothing too much trouble and great to chat with. Jacqui and Tim were exceptional hosts, the full breakfast absolutely delicious and the accommodations charming and fully functional. French Bay House is a little piece of art, beautifully restored. We stayed for two nights so met a few different people each morning and exchanged travel and life stories. we would return in a heartbeat.
