Attended a concert at McLean Park, Napier is so compact it was an easy enough walk. Great eateries, restaurants and wineries. Also some nice stores although some of them were a bit pricey. So many towns and sights are close to Napier and is appropriate for children and adults of all ages. Warning, you definitely need more than just a couple of days!

Napier is a BIG little town with plenty to see and do and lots of seaside walks and inner cycle pathways to explore. Nicely laid out and good places to eat. The reason why big trucks drive through town centre is baffling as there is a bypass to the port and is noisy and ruins the vibe. The significant gang presence in Napier is concerning, they are everywhere and are rude, aggressive, intimidating and seem to revile in their pathetic existence to annoy others.

We stayed here for the Napier Art Deco festival and the location was perfect with lots of free parking which was a real bonus as the town was very busy and many streets closed for the festival. Wonderful hotel with great staff very helpful and friendly. The room on the 5th floor end of corridor was brilliant with floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides the views were fab - in fact I watched the air display from there and had a closer view than people on the ground! We did not use the restaurant but did have breakfast at the swimming pool cafe opposite which was lovely and the Masonic Hotel which was also great. The location was a few minutes walk from the centre of the town so ideal We would absolutely stay here again but you need to book early for the festival in February - we booked in June the year before!

It's unfortunate that Napier, due to still struggling from the storms last year and the harvest staff requiring lodgings, it is very difficult to get reasonable accomodation. We visited Napier several years ago and absolutely loved it.

Nice town and some interesting things to do there including Art Deco guided street walk. Aquarium is interesting and a good hours visit. The esplanade is a very nice walk. Te Mata Peak is excellent.
The shopping in town is good although a 20 minute trip to Havelock North is an excellent shopping, cafe option and on the way to Te Mata Peak which is definitely worth a visit.

Napier is a gorgeous art deco town.
Napier is a gorgeous art deco town. We had dinner at "Restaurant Indonesia" our first night and it was absolutely delicious. Generous sized meals and very authentic. Second night we went to Portside for the $25.00 steak special. We were amazed to find out this price included a beer or cider and the steak was good. Would recommend both of these places to eat. Mondays & Tuesday nights a lot of eateries are closed so we were fortunate that we chose well with the fewer options available.
Take a walk around town and see the beautiful art deco buildings. I would recommend at least 2 full days in Napier as the wineries are a must do as is driving to the Te Mata Peak.
Cobden Gardens was a lovely place to stay. Phillip and Rayma were exceptional hosts who made us feel right at home and were gracious hosts. The room was lovely - with plenty of room and a beautiful view of the countryside. It was close to the central business district restaurants and they even called to set up a dinner reservation one night. Each evening there was wine and snacks on the porch overlooking their garden which was a delightful addition to our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Napier and with Phillip and Rayma.
We had a room with a beautiful sea view but unfortunately Cyclone Gabrielle hit Napier on Monday night. Gagah, motel manager was exceptional in keeping us up to date. Letting us stay longer as all roads from Napier were closed. He provided a bbq and gas to enable cooking and nothing was too much trouble. We cannot thank or praise him enough for his help and support during a very difficult time especially as he had his own family to worry about.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room had plenty of space, comfortable bed, lovely decor, bright and clean, with a great view of the town and some sea view.
We really appreciated the notes and lovely touches you did to make us feel so welcome, like the welcome book with history of hotel, food in fridge/ counter and sharing things to do in the area.
Like most of the Maring Parade hotels, this one has been there for awhile and is ‘efficient living’ for those who want to be as close to the beach as can be. While i liked the property and especially manager Julie, one must understand that this, like every other property we saw, is a bit tired. We love the location, Julie, and it coziness.
We had to stay in Napier for an extra night unexpectedly, so were very pleased to find a room in Motel de la Mer. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to have access to the room early. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, the room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
AWESOME location, lovely large room with table and chairs on deck, for drinks n nibbles in the setting sun. Plenty of parking and lift for access to units on 1st & 2nd floors. Helpful staff. Stroll along the esplanade to a great range of quality restaurants and a five minute drive into Napier CBD.
A wonderful solid Art Deco building converted into a stunning boutique hotel with period furniture, set on a quiet street but within the heart of Napier.
Staff were friendly, attentive and good humoured, the hotel spotless, the rooms spacious and quiet and the food excellent.
This place is our absolute preferred hotel for Napier. Large spa bath in the bathroom, across the road from the beach, always well stocked with snacks, and FABULOUS hosts - can't beat them for excellent hospitality and friendliness!
we always stay here when I’m Napier.
sited at Ahuriri beach a little seaside township with everything you need at the doorstep.
walking cycling track in front of accommodation, but only grass & beach in front of rooms!
The central location and waterfront views were great, and the art deco architecture was just what we'd wanted for our time in Napier. There were shared clothes washing and kitchen facilities which we appreciated.
We loved the friendly atmosphere in and around the Motel. The facilities for the kids were awesome and the spa was the best. Great clean, comfortable accommodation close to both Napier and Hastings...
Clean, tidy, spacious, double garage to use, comfortable beds, and everything else as if you were at home. Close to major roads to link to Taupo/Napier/Hastings. Walkable to Mission for the concert.
The hotel is in the art deco style of the whole town of Napier and is located right in the middle of town. The room was well laid out and had everything we needed for a short stay.
View, location. I heard hotel was pet friendly when we stayed. Wish we had known earlier. We would have brought a dog and stayed longer. Staff were great
