A lovely little town with some fabulous walks.

A lovely little town with some fabulous walks. Stay a couple of days after getting off the ferry instead of just driving through. ( Although a little busy when a cruise ship arrived in port, but they are not there every day!)

The ferries between the north and south island arrives/leaves from Picton. You can kayak, dine or hit the Queen Charlotte Track. The track is a total of 70km with accommodation along the way. The views are stunning, the track well maintained, the lodges comfortable and offering great meals.

    Great place.

Great place. We stayed at Picton Campervan Park and it was a great walking distance to pubs and town. They have cabins that are absolutely spotless and so comfortable. The beach and foreshore are just alive with people, watching all the flash boats coming and going. Sitting on the veranda of the Waitoi Tavern, sheltered from the sun and enjoying conversation with friendly people travelling was just tops. And the meals at the Waitoi Tavern were value for money in comparison to the other pubs. Fish was so fresh! and plenty of it on the plate! We only stayed two nights, just wasn't long enough, already planning another trip!

Picton is the gateway to the Sounds.

Picton is the gateway to the Sounds. We were meeting our daughter and husband to make daytrips on their yacht to outer bays, sailing and fishing, but there are water taxis which will drop/collect to various bays for swimming and fishing. There are lovely walking tracks. Nice place to visit.

    Great little beach town.

Great little beach town. We stayed for one night as a pass through and it exceeded expectations. Wish we were there longer. The scenery was magnificent, great shops and food spots right along the beach.

Generous sized room with a fantastic view over the harbour. High enough that no buildings caused any restrictions.Balcony sunny. We did a charity on line exercise class, and had plenty of space, after moving the table. Very pleased to be offered a small glass bottle of real milk, rather than plastic cartons. Hotel tries to be eco friendly by using refillable bottles in bathroom and kitchen.

Very happy with the stay. I did arrive late on the first night and left early hours of the morning, as I only needed a pit stop to sleep before catching the ferry to Wellington - so didn’t really get to see too much during. Great location as it’s right next door to Picton. Had everything you needed and was good value for the money. Very clean and tidy.

Elizabeth, who looked after us, was fabulous and utterly charming - just like the hotel. The Luxury Room we stayed in was lovelier and bigger than expected, especially the bathroom. They brought us fresh croissants with jams and butter on one of the last mornings and they were incredible! The petit fours and wine on arrival also made us feel very special.

The hotel is well situated on the main road through the shopping precinct. The check in was easy & quick. The rooms are decidedly small but have just about everything anyone really needs for an overnight stop. Directly across the road is a restaurant called The Barn. Excellent food and ambience.

The location is spot on, virtually waterfront and a room with a view. I love Picton and think its underrated. This motel is fine and reasonably priced for its facilities and convenience. Well functioning bathroom, extra pillows etc and comfortable.

The part of the hotel we saw was very beautiful and clean. We had a room with a shared bathroom, which was always clean as well. We checked in via late check-in since we arrived with the ferry around midnight, and that worked perfectly! :)

Fantastic backpacker hostel if you are backpacking in New Zealand. Very cheap and you can meet a lot of people. Also a nice cosy place and the staff are very helpful. The selfmade free dessert on 7pm is a very sweet touch too.

Good location at a reasonable price, staff were pleasant and helpful on check-in and check-out. There is a restaurant in the hotel (which I didn't use, but menu looked OK). Short walk to centre of town and waterfront.
