Slightly odd little hostel with murals etc but quite cosy for it. For those booking private rooms, they are actually open at the top which surprised me but wasnt much of an issue. The living room and fireplace are nice for a chill. Its good value for money. Great location for the ferry.
Tombstone Motel, Lodge & Backpackers features elevated views of Picton Harbor and the surrounding mountains.

The rooms were comfy, shared bathrooms & showers very clean, & the kitchen was also kept spotless. I especially liked talking with the owners, who shared info about where to hike, how to get around town etc

Beautiful little cottage, charmingly decorated and close enough to walk to restaurants. There were good things provided for breakfast though we had to leave very early.

Charming waterfront and very child friendly.
Charming waterfront and very child friendly. The pirate boat play area and splash pad is so nice for the little ones. We only walked around the centre up to the walkway bridge which present a marvelous view. As we are not trekkers, we only passed by Picton to proceed to Nelson from Wellington, and as overnight stop for the Interisland ferry back. There were many road closures when we visited. Perhaps next time, we will explore the surrounds.

A lovely little town with some fabulous walks.
A lovely little town with some fabulous walks. Stay a couple of days after getting off the ferry instead of just driving through. ( Although a little busy when a cruise ship arrived in port, but they are not there every day!)

The ferries between the north and south island arrives/leaves from Picton. You can kayak, dine or hit the Queen Charlotte Track. The track is a total of 70km with accommodation along the way. The views are stunning, the track well maintained, the lodges comfortable and offering great meals.

Great place.
Great place. We stayed at Picton Campervan Park and it was a great walking distance to pubs and town. They have cabins that are absolutely spotless and so comfortable. The beach and foreshore are just alive with people, watching all the flash boats coming and going. Sitting on the veranda of the Waitoi Tavern, sheltered from the sun and enjoying conversation with friendly people travelling was just tops. And the meals at the Waitoi Tavern were value for money in comparison to the other pubs. Fish was so fresh! and plenty of it on the plate! We only stayed two nights, just wasn't long enough, already planning another trip!

Picton is the gateway to the Sounds.
Picton is the gateway to the Sounds. We were meeting our daughter and husband to make daytrips on their yacht to outer bays, sailing and fishing, but there are water taxis which will drop/collect to various bays for swimming and fishing. There are lovely walking tracks. Nice place to visit.
This is a very small hotel (only 3 rooms) which only adds to its charm. Its location in the centre of Picton is an additional benefit as it is only a couple of minutes' walk from shops and nearby facilities. The old world style of decor ,the large rooms which are spotless and supremely comfortable has to be experienced. The restaurant is closed for evening meals , but the welcome touch of a wine and cheese plate is a unique touch. Breakfast is offered and sets you up for the day ahead.
I would love to stay here again.
The hotel couldn't have been any closer to the Picton ferry port which was really great because we have quite a delay and docked just after 11pm, hotel was easy to fine and self book in was very easy, we used it as an overnight stay only but the village/town is close if staying longer. The owners were very friendly
Breakfast was very easy, the choice was scone or toast with butter and jam/marmalade with tea/coffee
Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling on the ferry
Easy to find, park right in front of the room. Friendly management/owners. Let us use the laundry for free. Room was cozy, clean and comfortable. Shower was great with lots of hot water. Actually one of the best hotels we have stayed at in 8 weeks traveling New Zealand. Table and chairs on the small porch if you care to sit outside. Short walk to the oldest pub in town which serves good pub food and specials every night. My go to hotel in Picton if we ever return!
Excellent location close to shops, restaurants and the ferry. Coral was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for walks and dinner suggestions. This is an historic building, not a purpose built hotel, so don't expect a huge room but ours was comfortable and all we needed. There was a light continental breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit and yogurt.
Wilkes Way Villa was our favorite accommodation of our entire trip! The home is lovely and the apartment very spacious, clean and comfortable. The hosts have made their living room, kitchen, laundry room, yard and outdoor patios very accessible. There were so many lovely personal touches! It was a 5 minute drive into Picton. 10++
Although the size of the room was not exactly large, it was one of the best accommodations I've had. This place has some New Zealand "spirit" and good vibe. It is in the center of Picton so everything is really close (1 to 5 min walk). Tiny small room with everything you need. Will book again.
Eva is super friendly and helped me plan my trip around Picton. She gave me information on the water taxis and which track to hike. Eva recommended a very good wine to try! If you have questions or need help planning your trip around Picton, Eva is your person!
The location is spot on, virtually waterfront and a room with a view. I love Picton and think its underrated. This motel is fine and reasonably priced for its facilities and convenience. Well functioning bathroom, extra pillows etc and comfortable.
Very central. You can walk anywhere but then again Picton is a small town. They offer breakfast, it’s simple but it’s better than nothing. Very spacious. Nice backyard. I liked that my room (private room) had its own sink with warm water.
Location location location! Rooms have everything you could need, and were spotless. l like
most hotels and motels on the South Island there is no aircon. Just open the windows to let that beautiful cool evening air in and enjoy the views
Great location with an amazing view of Picton Harbour. Nicely furnished and comfortable for either a short or long stay. This was our second stay with these hosts in this apartment building and we would definitely stay here again.
Location is reasonably close to the Picton township, and the facilities are fantastic. Nice warm welcome from the staff. Stayed in one of the motels, reasonably priced, great parking for my Ute, I would love to stay here again.
Good boutique hotel that well operated , in good location, with beautiful room, great bathroom, great bed and excellent restaurant. Very good value for money ~ one of best in Picton. A real quality experience
