Everything!! Setting on Otago Peninsula is wonderful. The gardens and secluded seating areas on the grounds were absolutely beautiful, the room was beautifully designed and appointed, the breakfasts were five stars, and the hosts were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We’d book this again in a split second. Absolutely loved it.

McAuley Glen Boutique B&B is nestled in an idyllic harbourside location which is private and peaceful. Surrounded by mature flowering cherries, magnolia and maple trees, not only is this garden filled with fragrance & birdsong but over 200 roses & rhododendrons give a magnificent display of colour in spring and summer. The luxury accommodation consists of 2 suites, The Lauralie suite (sleeps 4) and the Ambrosia suite (sleeps 2) Both suites have a private court yard entrance with out door furniture. The rooms have a romantic ambiance featuring soft colourings that are complemented with richly coloured co-ordinates. They are furnished with luxurious beds, fine linen comfortable modern furniture, TV,DVD, CD and an enclosed service unit fitted with microwave, fridge, toaster, cutlery, glass ware, crockery, plus a selection of teas, coffee & treats. The spacious ensuite bathrooms tiled in natural tones features a porcelain and timber vanity, a walk in shower with excellent water pressure, heated floor, hair dryer and quality eco friendly personal products. The use of timber, creative soft furnishings and subtle lamp lighting all work to enhance the charm and restfulness of these rooms.
Your dedicated hosts Mary & Pat wish to insure your stay with them at McAuley Glen Boutique B&B is remembered with delight and fondness. They are well traveled Kiwis with a variety of interests who enjoy relaxed conversation spiked with witty humour. On your arrival at the B&B you will be given a kings welcome, a tour of your room with an invitation to partake in some refreshments, nibbles and of course a chat, however your privacy will be respected should you wish to relax. Mary & Pat have a combined 51 years on the Otago Peninsula they would be happy to advise on the local wild life tours and attractions, they can also help with your bookings. The breakfast at McAuley is where Mary invites her guests to indulge in a gourmet feast, this may include home made muffins with vanilla custard, rhubarb and ice cream, or pancakes with maple syrup, wild berries and cream. Freshly prepared juices or fruit smoothies, homemade cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit platters are laid out for your for your selection. A cooked choice of free range eggs, local and organic meats, hot pies and pastries is also laid out, along with Mary's home made bread and jams.
McAuley Glen Boutique B&B is located in one of New Zealand's most renowned ecotourism areas. The Otago Peninsula which stretches along the southern edge of the Otago Harbour has a well preserved and colourful history, a short drive from the B&B will take you to the famous and intriguing Larnach Castle, Glenfalloch Woodland Gardens or the Disappearing Gun displayed at Taiaroa Headlands. The property is also close to Royal Albatross, Penguin, Seal and Sea-lion colonies, all wild life tours and attractions. A 7 minute walk from the B&B along the water front takes you to the small village of Portobello where you can choose either from fine dining in an Edwardian style licensed Restaurant or the Bistro meals at the Original Portobello Hotel both have great views of the water front and great food. There is a local mini supermarket in the village along with a quaint museum that showcases the interesting history of the people and the area, there is also a popular coffee shop, a motor repair depot and fuel stop, The NZ Greenstone Art & Carving Studio is well worth a visit and not to forget The Happy Hens shop and Studio. Ask about the local scenic walk with great water views.
