A lovely little town with some fabulous walks.
A lovely little town with some fabulous walks. Stay a couple of days after getting off the ferry instead of just driving through. ( Although a little busy when a cruise ship arrived in port, but they are not there every day!)

The ferries between the north and south island arrives/leaves from Picton. You can kayak, dine or hit the Queen Charlotte Track. The track is a total of 70km with accommodation along the way. The views are stunning, the track well maintained, the lodges comfortable and offering great meals.

Great place.
Great place. We stayed at Picton Campervan Park and it was a great walking distance to pubs and town. They have cabins that are absolutely spotless and so comfortable. The beach and foreshore are just alive with people, watching all the flash boats coming and going. Sitting on the veranda of the Waitoi Tavern, sheltered from the sun and enjoying conversation with friendly people travelling was just tops. And the meals at the Waitoi Tavern were value for money in comparison to the other pubs. Fish was so fresh! and plenty of it on the plate! We only stayed two nights, just wasn't long enough, already planning another trip!

Picton is the gateway to the Sounds.
Picton is the gateway to the Sounds. We were meeting our daughter and husband to make daytrips on their yacht to outer bays, sailing and fishing, but there are water taxis which will drop/collect to various bays for swimming and fishing. There are lovely walking tracks. Nice place to visit.

Great little beach town.
Great little beach town. We stayed for one night as a pass through and it exceeded expectations. Wish we were there longer. The scenery was magnificent, great shops and food spots right along the beach.
The people make this place, both young and older. I’m a 50yr old woman, and I felt like I was visiting old friends and staying in their home which was comfy, interesting and decorated all over. The amenities are basic but if you stayed in a hotel, you would miss the authentic experience of chatting with staff and travellers and hearing all the great stories and advice of the local area. Location was great and very central. I only stayed one night yet missed the people there!?
The hotel couldn't have been any closer to the Picton ferry port which was really great because we have quite a delay and docked just after 11pm, hotel was easy to fine and self book in was very easy, we used it as an overnight stay only but the village/town is close if staying longer. The owners were very friendly
Breakfast was very easy, the choice was scone or toast with butter and jam/marmalade with tea/coffee
Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling on the ferry
Absolutely Brilliant property in a great location.
Barry did an excellent job of explaining the facilities on arrival.
We were not expecting to have the use of a pool and spa pool.
Everything was immaculate and nothing required was lacking.
It is only a relatively short walk to the restaurants and facilities in town so it is an ideal spot for a stay in Picton.
The apartment was so spacious and had everything we wanted. There were two bedrooms. The view from the front patio to the bay was lovely and serene. There were some ducks in the lawn and a nice lemon tree. The hostess was warm and friendly. We could park in front of the room. Hotel is in a residential neighborhood, rather than the downtown. This makes it quieter.
The hosts were very welcoming and the scones in the morning were delicious! Our motel unit had a great view, linens were crisp and shower was great. The shared facilities were well managed, clean and tidy. We were welcome to stay beyond our 10 am checkout to use the shared facilities while we waited for our afternoon ferry. We recommend!
Unique alpine like house. Eva , the host was most welcoming. She was most helpful with our stay in Picton. We had the full use of her kitchen which was very handy for us as we were returning to Christchurch the next day. The bed was very comfortable and our stay with Eva was just about the best in a 16 day holiday in New Zealand.
This property is not the plaza hotel in New York City. It’s a fantastic property in small town New Zealand with a great kid friendly pool, clean economically priced rooms, a nice breakfast and the best location. I don’t get the low rating in booking. The staff is also very friendly. Stay here. A great spot and great value. Thanks
We have stayed here before and we will stay every time we come through.
Motel and Owners and Cleaners are really friendly and that counts a lot.
To the people that look to stay in Picton
This is the place to come to close to everything
We will be back
Thank You

We loved the feeling of seclusion but only being a 20 minute walk into town. The hot tub was also a favourite with us! Max & Rhonda put such an effort into small, personal touches and it really made our stay! Would definitely recommend to anyone going through Picton.
we paid for the best view of the Harbour and a lovely spa bath.
It was well worth it.
The view was amazing, spa bath very nice, bed comfortable, room very clean.
We really enjoyed our stay and our dinner in the hotel restaurant was awesome 😊
Warm welcome from the operators of this quaint B&B, and super comfy bed. The room had most things you would expect for an overnight stay. It is not a 5* hotel, so don't expect a hot breakfast or amenities like iron and ironing board!
The position was fabulous overlooking Picton Harbour. Short walk to the adventure companies so very short distance to take bags. Very clean spacious and well appointed apartment. Lovely balcony with plenty of outdoor space.
It’s really quiet though only 100 meters from Hwy 1. Surrounded by gardens and fields. Very clean and well equipped. Loved waking up to the birds. Close enough to Picton to see the museums and eat.
The receptionist was brilliant at her job, very enthusiastic, helpful and entertaining. Its a pity that other receptoionists at other motels/hotels did not come accross as happy as she was
Great location very convenient for ferries etc. Beds were comfy, rooms a little tired & as we were in the front of the hotel a bit noisy with traffic in the early morning.
