The bed was comfortable on one side as the electric blanket worked only one the right side of the bed so during the night I turned I woke up due to the cold side of the bed.

It's a really cool town, the victorian precinct is amazing and you can spend hours just walking and admiring the buildings. There's a farmers market on Sundays and a lovely train that departs from the front to Steampunk museum to the penguin colony. It's a short but beautiful ride.
There are sea lions and seals everywhere and it's guaranteed you'll take nice pictures from them 😉

We loved Oamaru.
We loved Oamaru. It was a beautiful little town with stunning architecture and things to do. We enjoyed the steam punk HQ and the museums available to celebrate the towns heritage.
Plenty of cafes and restaurants available and good quality food/ beverages.

The penguin sanctuary was lovely and we saw penguins during the day in the nests. The evening tour was fully booked so get in early if you want to do that.. The steam punk museum was suitably odd and they were very friendly when we got caught in a downpour and stayed sheltering there while they were closing. Plenty of chance to see seals basking on the foreshore.
The victorian precinct however was just a street - possibly more exciting if you are from New Zealand of Australia but we live in a property older than anything on the street so not really that exciting if you are from the UK or the older cities in the US

A very pleasant surprise, was recommended to stop here by a friend, so glad we did. A quirky place , so much history. The Victorian quarter alone was wonderful. Steampunk also worth a look. Easy to walk around the town too. Ps some hilly streets 😀

This is a hidden gem of a town with unique stone architecture and history. I am biased because I worked here for two months years ago. Be sure to visit the garden and use the pool facilities if you have the time. And to top it off it is close to the Moreike Boulders... a must see.
Needed to stay the night en route back from Pink concert in Dunedin. Arrived in Oamaru at 1.30am, tired and ready for bed! Opened the door and voila! We were greeted by the warmth of the heat pumps, lights were on ready for us, and the decor was simply beautiful. We fell into the gorgeously presented beds and all - 2 adults and 3 young ones, -and all slept like logs. I feel like making an excuse to go to Oamaru again just to stay there, and have time to really enjoy the harbour views and generous outdoor living area!
Roger the host was very welcoming and had provided everything we needed for our comforts. The bed we slept in was the most comfortable of anywhere we have stayed. It was a bonus to be able to chat with other guests in the dining room, something you don't get in motels or hotels. Great view too.
There was the initial shock of our surroundings as it is a house full of incredible stuff but it was more interesting than off putting. An experience we will remember for a long time.
This hotel is beautiful! The steampunk esthetic was both glamorous and highly creative. The two women we dealt with could not have been nicer and our ski themed room was huge and comfortable. It had a living area with a huge TV and comfy leather sofa. The bedroom also had a TV. The town is so much fun who has time for TV! Breakfast was amazing as well - plenty to choose from in a lovely huge room.
We ended our A2O cycling trail in this beautiful Oamaru Stone Building. Luxury boutique accomodation was a really pleasure to stay here with our group of 8 people. Everyone was blown away with the interior design of each room and the high spec features of kitchen and bathroom facilities. A real credit to its owners. Don't hesitate to book here its exceptional.
YS We were upgraded and it was a large airy room, with access to a courtyard behind the room.
Lovely looking motor lodge, with a manned reception which made everything easy.
Staff were great, comfortable beds and very clean and fresh.
A little way out of town, but only if you want to walk to town.
Quiet and we would stay here again. Thanks
The layout was perfect for our family with separate bedroom and living room sleeping area. Easy and friendly check in. Slept great on comfortable bed. While nothing jumps out about the motel it delivered more than expected! Also Oamuru turned out to be the hidden gem of our trip! Super interesting town!
This was such a fantastic place to stay in Oamaru. The location could not have been better — right in the middle of Old Town, but tucked off the street which meant there was no noise. The place was wonderfully decorated and had everything you could need, and the fire was a nice touch. Highly recommend.
It’s a super cute little motel with updated rooms and modern amenities. I would happily stay again. It’s only a 5 minute drive into the heart of Oamaru so you’re well away from late night noise. I was travelling alone this time but would stay here with my family and the staff are so friendly.
I loved staying at Oamaru Backpackers. My room was very cozy and comfy, the kitchen and the living room were so nice and bright with everything you need to cook and to relax. Very nice view. So far one of the best hostel I've been to since I'm in NZ last year. Sadly I only stayed one night.
30 minute drive from Oamaru but well worth it. Cute and cozy cabin (former school house) on a sheep farm. Everything you need for home comfort, Wi-Fi, hot shower, comfy bed, washing machine, and basic breakfast. Very welcoming hosts! Love the hens that come and visit!
Everything. This is a farm stay cabin so it’s not a 5 star hotel but that’s not the idea. Delightful to be in the country but really just up the hill from Oamaru. Beautiful garden, highland cattle and alpacas to feed. Wonderful owners.
Lovely historic hotel with added modern accommodation wing. Hosts were awesome and provided info about history of the hotel. Brilliant location with easy walk to the Victorian streets of Oamaru. Plenty of parking available.
Great location at end of town, close to Victorian Precinct, Steampunk & walking distance to Little Blue Penguin exhibit. Best value for money in Oamaru. Bed very comfortable, kitchen & bathrooms relatively clean.
Gorgeous heritage house. Beautifully comfortable room. Loved all the special little touches and attention to detail. Jacqui was a fabulous host and would highly recommend staying here when visiting Oamaru
The hotel was an old-fashioned architecture building, that has been refurbished. It was located near the city center, shops and sightseeing places. The receptionist was nice and helpful.
Spacious basement flat with private access and parking. Friendly host. Very handy location with easy walk to Oamaru's Victorian precinct. Great views over the harbour
