I just love the relaxed surroundings of Te Anau, it's one of my favorites destinations for a few'nights-getaway..there is lots to do and if you're adventurous you can do even more! Amazing nature, the lake is just stunning, township is not too big but has all you could want/need. Brilliant food places...love The Ranche and the Moose. Redcliff restaurant and bar is a unexpected find, quaint and quirky but great food and staff. Overall, Te Anau is a beautiful destination if you're looking for somewhere not too touristy (at least, it doesn't feel that way)

This is a nice location which has everything.

This is a nice location which has everything. The town centre has everything that you would need. Friendly people in shops and businesses. Great range of different restaurants. Excellent tourist attractions. Very convenient to Milford Sound - 2 hours through stunning countryside. A lot better to travel from Te Anau to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound than to come from Queenstown - 4 hours travel The best place we found to eat and just chill at was Red Cliff Bar and Restaurant - friendly staff, exceptional food and first rate service. A couple of must do's are: Wings and Water (float plane) with Ivan and Cruise Te Anau with Peter. Both locals, highly entertaining and knowledgeable.

This is a great, very small town that makes a great stay to see the Fiordlands. Stay at a location with a view of the lake. Activities from here are a great choice. The lake and mountains are beautiful and eat at the Ranch, best place we ate on both islands.

A lovely place and central to attractions with easy access to Doubtful Sound. Really glad we missed out on Milford Sound as the trip to Doubtful was amazing. Did the Glow Worms tour which was wonderful.

We stayed a bit longer in Te Anau to do a bit of hiking.

We stayed a bit longer in Te Anau to do a bit of hiking. It's a small town, so easy to get to know quickly. The nicer restaurants need a reservation, and it seemed when we went that quite a few restaurants were short-staffed. If dining is important to you, check out where you want to eat a few days beforehand.

Location was good, then again Te Anau is a very small town. There are many different facilities for guests esp kids. There are two other campgrounds nearby which we saw with better facilities. We got a corner self contained unit which was great with privacy in a crowded place. Dedicated parking which is good. Receptionist who checked us in was very pleasant with her little assistant. The very cute resident cat was friendlier than the Easter weekend receptionist.

Absolutely loved it here. The rooms were quiet and clean. The beds were very comfortable which is usually hard to find when away, but not here. Unfortunately we have had to leave our rental car there due to a key issue, and they were very accommodating to this. Lovely people to chat to. I highly recommend staying here, and if or should I say when we come back will definitely stay here. Te Anau he gateway to the most beautiful scenery NZ has to offer.

from the get go, the lady that received us was wonderful. her service was superb, the facilities including the hot tub were lovely. The English breakfast (i am a pom and judge well i think) was absolutely superb with perfect poached eggs and just the right amount of toast, bacon, etc. Little extras like shortbread really made our stay special and we shall return to this place every single time we visit Te Anau. Why would we go anywhere else? Lee

The location and view are just beautiful! From the hilltop, you look out at the mountains of Fiordland. It is located conveniently between Te Anau & Manapouri. We also enjoyed meeting the owner, who gave us the history of his property, and took time to chat for a few minutes while he was doing chores. The main lodge has a large modern kitchen and nice indoor & outdoor seating areas. Our cabin was comfortable & had heaters for chilly evenings.

This was a treasure that I found thanks to booking.com. Te Anau Lakeview Kiwi Holiday Park is the perfect place for any accommodation budget, whether you are single, a couple, a family or a big group there is a place for you to rest your weary heads. Our accommodation was a two bedroom suite with park views, it was clean, tidy, warm and the perfect place to return to after our daily adventures.

The hosts were very nice and they gave us all the instructions about the town and where to find everything we wanted, such as the restaurants and the bike rental. They served a very good breakfast, with options we could choose from. The view from the lodge and from the room was spectacular with Lake Te Anau and the mountains. Beautiful scenery!

Spacious and beautiful studio room. Private door to enter. Very clean. Our room was serviced each day and all of the breakfast items were left for us in the kitchen area. There were plenty of pots and pans to be able to use to cook, which we did. Short drive into Te Anau, and a nice base camp from which to drive to Milford Sound.

After walking the Kepler Track and finishing early, we were kindly able to get an early arrival time at the motel and made use of the lovely spa bath with bath salts provided. Then feet up on the comfy loungers to watch some tele. Luxury and time to recover; just what the doctor ordered.

No breakfast provided. Most other small motels we’ve stayed in here in New Zealand provide a small bottle of milk for hot drinks, cereal, etc. Aden Motel had some very small containers of milk, but not a small bottle.

Te Anau is a beautiful resort town on the way to Milford Sound. The hotel has large, comfortable rooms and is next door to the best restaurant in town: Redcliff. They have a laundromat and free parking.

If the year were 1997 then I am sure this would be the best in hotel luxury. With that in mind, the hotel provides you with all the basics you will need - laundry facility, small gym, in-house cafe etc.
