This is a nice location which has everything. The town centre has everything that you would need. Friendly people in shops and businesses. Great range of different restaurants. Excellent tourist attractions. Very convenient to Milford Sound - 2 hours through stunning countryside. A lot better to travel from Te Anau to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound than to come from Queenstown - 4 hours travel The best place we found to eat and just chill at was Red Cliff Bar and Restaurant - friendly staff, exceptional food and first rate service. A couple of must do's are: Wings and Water (float plane) with Ivan and Cruise Te Anau with Peter. Both locals, highly entertaining and knowledgeable.HeatherAustralia - 10Scored 10

This is a great, very small town that makes a great stay to see the Fiordlands. Stay at a location with a view of the lake. Activities from here are a great choice. A lovely place and central to attractions with easy access to Doubtful Sound. Really glad we missed out on Milford Sound as the trip to Doubtful was amazing. Did the Glow Worms tour which was wonderful.

Itis a very pretty town.
Itis a very pretty town. It is a perfect place to stay if you are planning to go to Milford Sound. The drive to Queenstown is also spectacular. The are a lot of options for price in accommodation and meals.

We stayed a bit longer in Te Anau to do a bit of hiking. It's a small town, so easy to get to know quickly. The nicer restaurants need a reservation, and it seemed when we went that quite a few restaurants were short-staffed. Te Anau has much to offer from tramping on nearby trails (Kepler) to Jet Boating with Fiordjet who provide more than just a blast up the river the pilot also tells you about the river, lake and surroundings. Plenty of places to eat and drink and an evening walk along the lake is devine.

The motel is within easy walking distance of the centre of Te Anau. The owners were very friendly and informative - before we arrived, they messaged us via booking.com to say that many local restaurants were struggling to meet demand because of staff shortages. They recommended that we reserve a table beforehand which we did. The owners were also very knowledgeable about the area and suggested places to stop, on the way to Milford Sound.

The location of your hotel is also one of your greatest assets as it is so picturesque and set in a breathtaking location. The room is large with a comfortable bed. The kitchen is part of this same room. But it had everything we needed to make coffee or a meal. The bathroom was also a good size with everything everything we needed. From here we booked a small tour trip to Milton Sound.

The outside space was lovely - could sit outside and kick a ball around or have a glass of wine. Plenty of room in the unit and nice to have a closed off bedroom for our son.
