Location was perfect for walking to the Seal Colony along the path and the beach . The front Desk hours were very limited and the breakfast left a bit to be desired . But the location and the quaint courtyard make up for its downfalls.

Enjoyed the whale watching tour - the day was reasonably calm so no one was seasick thank goodness. Staff were informatiive and shared the story of the whales and dolphins. The map showing us the travel route was very helpful to understand the trnech and which direction and area we were headed to.

Kaikoura is a 2 hr drive from our home, so we regularly visit for long weekends. It's a special part of NZ where people and nature can interact. There's something special about how the mountains meet the sea. And of course the fresh seafood is spectacular

WhaleWatch trip was very good.
WhaleWatch trip was very good. Great cafes: Flo and Co has excellent coffee. Sime's Kitchen had great breakfast and lunch - vegan choices were delicious. Tipsy Foodies also recommended. Southern Paua shop and factory highly recommended - amazing range of jewellery, carvings and gifts. Some exquisite pounamu too. Best place to buy gifts in Kaikoura!!
Novel Findings is a great bookshop and homewares shop - don't miss it!
Loved the Ngāi Tahu artworks beside the highway, murals on the railway bridge and buildings. It's really worth checking the "Neat Places Kaikoura" website - lots of great suggestions for cool places and things to do in Kaikoura.

The wild life was definitely the highlight of the trip for me. I went swimming with dolphins and saw load of seals with their pups.
Also the people in the town are super friendly and helpful.
Of course the scenery is also breathtaking.
Loads of nice eating places that serve great seafood.

Very easy to find way to attractions, town lovely and clean.Plenty of eating places, ones we used were all excellent and value for money.Only thing we regretted was we missed the Whale Watch tour as it was blowing hard both full days we were there and there were no sailings. Will have to go back again.
I stay in many motels and hotels around NZ for work. This property is right up there for comfort, cleanliness, friendly accommodating managers and staff. The bed was super comfortable and we were lucky to get a room towards the back of the property so no road noise. Apparently some trains went through during the night but I did not hear them. I would definitely recommend and would be very happy to go back, I wish more properties we're like this.
The apartment has a commanding view over the town of Kaikoura and the bay. With the bath on the deck and stars overhead we had a wonderful weekend. Lots of walking trails from this location and a beautiful rural outlook behind the apartment. Lookout 5 minutes walk up the road and historic pa next door with seat overlooking bay to the mountains. We will be back with family and book out adjoining unit. Thanks for the opportunity to stay.
Nikau Lodge is a lovely place to stay in Kaikoura. Karen, Mick and Jaz go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The cooked breakfast in the morning was superb, as was the location. The room was lovely, spotlessly clean with an amazing view of the mountains. The best hotel / bed & breakfast that I’ve stayed in in recent years :-)
On arrival we were very excited to be upgraded to a premium suite complete with sea views. The facilities were exceptional! Staff awesome. This is the second time staying at The White Morph, and will likely be our "go to" for future visits to Kaikoura.
Stayed in the yurt with my teenage kids. Loads of space, comfortable beds, hot shower. Makes a lovely change from the usual dull motels or holiday parks. Even the teenagers enjoyed helping with feeding the farm animals. Fab place. Would recommend.
Lovely view of the sea from the room. Comfortable bed and good facilities. The location is a bit of a walk into the town centre but has interesting coastline and a good restaurant nearby. I would definitely stay here next time I'm in Kaikoura.
🔸The location: Nice view and super convenient (close to restaurants, supermarket, the train station, the bus stop and Seal Kayak Kaikoura)
🔸The staff: Super friendly and helpful! Thank you so much!♥️
🔸The price: Reasonable price👍
Everything!!! Our cabin, shared bathroom, kitchen, lounge, laundry very very clean. The bbq area, pool and 2x hot tubs, sadly, didn't get to use these due to wet weather, but will definately stay there when I am next in kaikoura!
The breakfast was simple but nice, they kindly added oat milk for us. The location was a long walk with luggage but worth the great view of Kaikōura mountains from the hotel communal balcony. The restaurant had excellent food.
Really beautiful hotel and garden. I just wanted to sit out there all the time! The breakfast wasn’t included but I thought it was well worth it and very lovely. Staff was great and the room was comfortable and clean!
Tv in each room. Often motels look fantastic on websites but are actually not as advertised, but in this instance the unit was beautifully presented. The kitchen is a great size with a full size fridge.
Accomodation was clean and had all the basic necessities. Short drive to shops and restaurants. It's a nice wee gem of an accomodation for a weekend in Kaikoura. Will visit again.
Hotel was super clean and modern the view to the ocean was amazing bed very comfy it was next level for a wee place like Kaikōura easy parking on site to
We loved this hotel. It was so clean. The room was very nice. It had everything we needed. Great bathroom/shower. The front staff were kind and helpful.
