The Brydone is a historic hotel whose location is central to most attraction of Oamaru, The room was small but clean and comfortable with a great shower. The restaurant/café was great and comfortable, just right for listening to the jazz and blues performances we had come to see.

A very friendly, welcoming young lady greeted me on arrival. The room was lovely, large, and very clean. Comfortable bed.
Loved the location - it was in a very tranquil setting. May not suit everyone as you need transport to drive to restaurants and shops. I stocked up in Oamaru before my stay. A very restful place to chill out. Take some reading material with you. TV reception?

It's a really cool town, the victorian precinct is amazing and you can spend hours just walking and admiring the buildings. There's a farmers market on Sundays and a lovely train that departs from the front to Steampunk museum to the penguin colony. It's a short but beautiful ride.
There are sea lions and seals everywhere and it's guaranteed you'll take nice pictures from them 😉

The penguin sanctuary was lovely and we saw penguins during the day in the nests. The evening tour was fully booked so get in early if you want to do that.. The steam punk museum was suitably odd and they were very friendly when we got caught in a downpour and stayed sheltering there while they were closing. Plenty of chance to see seals basking on the foreshore.
The victorian precinct however was just a street - possibly more exciting if you are from New Zealand of Australia but we live in a property older than anything on the street so not really that exciting if you are from the UK or the older cities in the US

A very pleasant surprise, was recommended to stop here by a friend, so glad we did. A quirky place , so much history. The Victorian quarter alone was wonderful. Steampunk also worth a look. Easy to walk around the town too. Ps some hilly streets 😀

This is a hidden gem of a town with unique stone architecture and history. I am biased because I worked here for two months years ago. Be sure to visit the garden and use the pool facilities if you have the time. And to top it off it is close to the Moreike Boulders... a must see.
EVERYTHING!! This was a beautiful cottage totally redone in a style that was sophisticated and warm and cozy all at the same time. The tiled bathroom, the beautiful headboard, the new appliances, all made me feel like I was in a fancy hotel. The location was handy; we walked everywhere. There were all of the ingredients for a nice breakfast in the fridge. I was very sad that we didn’t have more time to spend there. Violeta was so accommodating and made us feel very welcome.
We were completely blown away by this hotel! The lobby is absolutely gorgeous. It is filled with artifacts and antiques displayed in interesting and new ways. You have to see it for yourself to understand how creative and incredible it is. The room is eclectic and chic at the same time. It is super comfortable and impeccably clean. What a thrill to stay at a hotel that is clearly a labour of love.
The building looks more like a house than a hotel. There were many decorations in the house, especially decirations of penguins, which made it very lovley. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. There was also a massage chair.
The accommodation is also very close to all the major attractions in Oamaru.
The hotel was equal distance between Kakanui Beach and Oamaru, which was perfect for us. The rooms were nice and big for us and our 3 children, and the beds comfy. Kids enjoyed exploring the extensive grounds and abandoned old parts of the old school. Pet friendly too, which meant our dog could come was a big bonus.
The layout was perfect for our family with separate bedroom and living room sleeping area. Easy and friendly check in. Slept great on comfortable bed. While nothing jumps out about the motel it delivered more than expected! Also Oamuru turned out to be the hidden gem of our trip! Super interesting town!
It’s a super cute little motel with updated rooms and modern amenities. I would happily stay again. It’s only a 5 minute drive into the heart of Oamaru so you’re well away from late night noise. I was travelling alone this time but would stay here with my family and the staff are so friendly.
Beautiful Victorian settings and it's better than expected. Great heating system in room and bathroom. Easy parking. Very nice Asian Chinese & Western food right opposite the motel across the street. Comfortable bed. Full kitchen with cooking stove. Very friendly staff. Thanks all! 😃🥰👍🏻
fantail cottage is a magical accomodation ideally located in Oamaru to walk to the Victorian precinct, Scotts brewery, and see the blue penguin colony.owners were super responsive and have taken great care to restore this cottage into a fantastic guest house.
Beautiful cottage in the heart of Oamaru.
Great location especially if you have a reservation at Cucina.
The accommodation was clean and had everything you could need. Wonderful log burner for a cold night.
I highly recommend this place.
Such a gorgeous house. The bed was incredibly comfortable and cosy. Room was so spacious and tasteful. Carol was a brilliant, accommodating dating host who made us a delicious breakfast the next morning. Best place to stay in Oamaru.
Tiny house on the rise with a fantastic view over the port and bay of Oamaru. Also view down to the historic precinct which is within walking distance . might be small, but comfortable with everything one might need.
The hotel was well located, on the main street of Oamaru, and an easy 20-minute walk to the penguin conservation centre, which was the reason for our visit. It was quiet and the restaurant area is lovely.
The female caretaker was lovely. She allowed me to arrive early due to the fact I had a funeral to attend at 1.30pm. WOuld reccommend this for those business folk that commute to Oamaru.
It was the perfect location - so close to town but not right in the centre.
Everything was so tidy, clean and beautifully decorated. It felt more like a home than a backpackers.
Really love this place, highly recommend to anyone who plan to visit Oamaru and stay for one night or more. You will definitely love it!
It worth the money you pay for.
Great location close to the centre of Oamaru, unit was very clean and the bigger of the 2 beds was nice and comfortable. There was a heat in the room which was good.
