I can recommend Pomeroy's Cafe.on the opposite side of the Square for their delicious matcha laites. Nelson's many art gallerys are enough to satisfy the most avid art lover with the delightful, meandering walk out through Queens Gardens to Nelson's Suter Art Gallery and cafe, always a highlight.

Nelson is a lovely town, with beautiful hanging baskets and old, unique architecture, close to Tahunanui beach, which is lovely. The Saturday market is great and wandering around Nelson town is fun, there are some good small specialty shops. I enjoyed the museum and the Suter Art Gallery and Queens Gardens. It is also a great base to visit both the Marlborough and the Tasman regions.

The Art and Crafts I saw were excellent.
The Art and Crafts I saw were excellent. The Suter Gallery was a highlight, and I enjoyed the Cathedral. I really enjoyed the walk up to "the centre of N.Z" and the views from there. I had some very good food and liked looking at the architecture - e.g the villas and transitional villas in The Brook. Founders Park and Miyazu Japanese Garden were great. Also, having a craft beer at "The Free House", a church that has been converted into a drinking place( and painted with fun colours) was wonderful.

Friendliness and facilities were so nice.We had a lovely balcony with table and chairs.Near the beach. The lady I Ispoke to on the phone requesting a bath also came to greet us and she remembered me from our phone call and said enjoy your bath you deserve it. She must have remembered when I spoke to her previously we were going to be tired as we had come from a month of entertaining friends and family. This got us off to a great start. Then we were so happy to see how lovely our unit was.A Wonderful stay
Cozy and cleanliness of the room with comfortable double beds. It was a splendid idea to have an iron , we used it on Sunday morning even though we brought our own with us. An electric kettle was so handy for us on Sat evening and Sunday morning for hot chocolate and coffee since we brought our own cereal with us. Was surprised to see the volumse of body lotion, shampoo, conditioner in the bathroom comparing it to previous accommodation places we booked in were just in tiny sachets..excellent Nelson Hotel..
Centrally located. An easy walk to shops and restaurants. Dean, the lodge owner displayed hospitality at it's absolute finest - so obliging and friendly. His cider went down a treat!
The bed was comfy and the room was lovely and quiet for sleeping. The toiletries and soaps were the best I have ever used in any of the motels and hotels I have stayed in worldwide.
We'll be back any time we pass through Nelson FOR SURE.
Management was most helpful, on arrival explaining what was available/where around town. Unit was well appointed, very comfortable. Laundry facilities available. Yes l would certainly recommend this motel for your next stay in Nelson.
As an ex travel agent, l have done dozens of hotel inspections, and this property certainly did not disappoint, it is very comfortable and value for money
The hotel was fabulous. Close to town, great little balcony overlooking the river and the room was very comfortable, especially the bed so had a great sleep all for a very good price. All the staff were friendly and efficient when we interacted with them. Will definitely be back next time we come to Nelson.
The location of the Quest is ideal - right in the middle of the city centre. Close to NMIT where my course was. Having a washing machine/dryer proved to be vital as I ended up stuck in Nelson because of flooding. The movie channel is very good and the room facilities are also excellent.
I arrived early and though I hadn't requested it, the friendly manager let me in early. The location is great and most of the place was clean. The bed was comfortable. If I return to Nelson, I would stay in the same place just because the manager was so nice and kind.
Very comfortable room in a beautiful old house - so interesting. Lovely welcome from the host. Great location for enjoying Nelson town. Breakfast was continental style and delicious - particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit.
The view from the house is to something to die for. Probably the best view of Nelson. The design of the unit is unique, has character. The owners left a detailed manual, had a personal touch to it. We loved it.
Hi there, the house was very comfortable, the beds were comfortable, the location was good to anywhere around the Nelson area and the road was quiet and the house quite secluded.
It was warm and welcoming. I loved the decor and how homely it felt.
The perfect place and location for a couple or a family to stay in the heart of Nelson.
Clean & nice, good location if wanting a city vibe.
I'm from Nelson originally, I was at that hotel like 45 years ago, so pretty good bones for an old girl.
