It's a pleasant little mountain town that I think attracts locals escaping the heat. If you are hiking - I bet it's great. but if you are just bumming around, in two days you've seen everything twice. The zoo is a little depressing. There are some great places to eat. And if you are into geology, find an overlook and ponder how much ash got blown out to create a caldera this large. You can see the feet of the volcano surrounding the valle, and then ponder the fact that the actual peak collapsed below your feet.

Beautiful place full of residents who LOVE nature & gardening, plants & flowers. Relaxing & with a cool climate unlike the rest of Panama (aside from boquete which is the other end of the country).

A great place for a weekend getaway, with lots of outdoor activities at a nice leisurely pace. We didn't have a vehicle so we chose to stay on the main street, and everything was in a decent walking distance or you could use a bicycle which were widely available. I would happily return to do some of the other activities we didn't get to this time around.

This is a great town for relaxation & to capture true Panamanian hospitality. Visiting the Victoriano Lorenzo museum is a must if you want to learn some of the region history. It’s a humble but very informative spot with an excellent bilingual host/guide. Several good spots to eat & it’s easy to get around the town.

There are many great spots in the Valle. If you like to hike it seems like there are a LOT of places to explore - some with or without a guide. I would have liked one more day to venture further to see some of the waterfalls in the area besides the most accessible one in el Valle. While it wasn't too crowded, it would have been nice to be on a quieter trail.

I liked it as a stopover place to break up the drive from Panamá city to the beach. It isn’t a very developed town as far as tourism goes so it feels off the path of all that tourist stuff. It has a great coffee shop and several good challenging hikes. I was hoping to see some wildlife on these but apparently there isn’t much unless you are a bird watcher and then it is full!! Everyone was friendly and we hooked up with a local tour guide born in Panamá who went to school in Canada and now runs his own tour company out of El Valley( Caminando tours - find on Instagram). I personally wouldn’t stay more than 2 days because it is a small place but if you like a laid back vibe and cooler climate this would be a nice place to stay for longer.
