It is worth going to the lake in Puno since it is the highest navigable lake in the world and is also unique because of the islands made of reed. It was interesting seeing the lifestyles of the people living on these lakes. The food served as part of the tour was good, but getting to the restaurant was challenging since the climb up to the restaurant was quite steep. The overall experience was very good.

Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands.
Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands. The city itself is not very interesting, nice main square with a cathedral and few goods restaurants (Mojsa at the bottom of the Main square was really excellent, full of international travelers...). Did not have much time to climb on the nearby hills to have a panoramic view of the Puno & Titicaca. Spent two-day / one-night trip to Uros / Amantani / Taquile islands (overnight at Amantani with a local family), very interesting and very down-to-earth, but we all enjoyed the boat trip, Uros, dancing in local costumes & sunset from the top of Amantani (made it with our 8-year old daughter), as well as the next day at Taquile island. The following night we spent at Uros with Felix (Uros Amaru Marka Lodge) was excellent !

We wanted to come for the cultural experiences of the uro peoples but we saw a people who are abusing tourism to live. We were overcharged at every occurrence from transportation, housing, souvenirs, food etc. It left a bad taste in our mouths. We wish we would have spent time in other places in Peru.

Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small.
Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small. They don't have the artensans or activities that other large towns like Cuzco may have, so if you don't care to visit the floating islands of Uros, you may not want to make the trip.

It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing.
It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing. Markets galore and very well priced. Food was vaery nice in the restuarants.
Dont forget your ina toursit trap and it becomes more apparent as and if you go to the Uros islands. You will not be allowed tp leave until they have rinsed you of every penny they can get out of you -with minimal effort.
There is so much potential to do a lot more but I think the islanders have become lazy and just want to sell you trinkets which in all honesty are mass produced. The guide said they get most if not all oof their income from tourists. I can understand that, but at least make it entertaining rather than a tired old roadshow where they roll out the same thing time after time.
There is a nice promenade along the front with lots of wildlife.
Hope you enjoy.
Happy trails

I was really looking forward to seeing lake titicaca and the floating island and I was really disappointed. It doesn’t feel very authentic and is one big tourist trap where you are pressured into buying things. It’s a shame as people go to see a different way of life but that way of life is now very much about getting as much money from tourists as possible and making you feel pressured and uncomfortable until you do. I spent one day here and that felt like too much, maybe it’s different if you stay overnight on the island but I have my doubts.
This accomodation is a great place to experience and get to know better the local culture. We were immersed into it and we felt very well.
We felt the accomodation was well priced.
The breakfast was amazing, above expectations for Peruvian standards.
We served as well the dinner for a fair price.
Manuel, member of the family, drove us by his boat for a fair price to the local port and explained us a few things about the local culture, the work they do to maintain the islands and the main activities.
Beautiful lodge in the Uros areas. Carlos did a lot of work to improve the living conditions for guests and the result is just amazing! Comfy bed, room with sunset and sunrise view, calm and relaxing! Carlos and family are lovely people! Well located, only 15 minutes boat ride from Puno port. Staying overnight in Uros, talking to the community here is an unique experience! We highly recommend anyone interested in the culture and history of Peru to stay in Uros!
our stay with Juan and Amalia was easily a highlight of our trip to Peru
- stunning lodges on titicaca lake
- complete tranquility and privacy as there is only one other lodge
- hot water, heaters and hot water bottles
- personal rooftop conservatory to watch the stars
- delicious food cooked for you
- time spent on the lake with Juan describing the history and how the floating houses are made
just such an incredible experience! we did not want to leave!
The room was exactly like in the pictures. The owner shared with us many useful information (how to get around the city, how to reach the airport), he booked for us a good, well priced tour to Uros island.
The accomodation was worth every cent. It offers great value for money.
The breakfast was above expectations for Peruvian standards.
We felt welcome and we wouldn't hesitate to book again if coming back to Puno.
This place truly deserves it's rating.
Lovely hotel with outstanding views. The location just outside Puno was great, only a short inexpensive taxi ride into town. We spent a night on the uros islands in a homestay prior to our stay here and the hotel is right next to the port used for the pick up and drop off.
Breakfast at this hotel is outstanding, best in our month in Peru. Loved the jacuzzi in the spa area. Staff were very helpful and service was excellent.
Overall a great 5 star stay.
Beautiful guesthouse, simple but made with love, with a lovely cafe & garden (something that is rare in Puno), quiet but a short walk into the main square.
I stayed in the Queen Room, the bed was very comfortable & warm, plenty of hot water with good pressure.
The host is very lovely & accommodating. I forgot something in the room when I’m already on the way to Bolivia and she went the extra mile to help me get it back.
We absolutely loved our stay at the lodge! In fact, it was one of our most memorable experiences in Peru. It wasn't just a stay at the hotel - it was an amazing experience that included delicious food, very interesting conversations with Ivan about his family/lifestyle, history of Uros, great tour to other Uros communities, and overall wonderful, relaxing time on the lake Titicaca. Amazing place!
Great location, VERY comfortable firm beds. Not a luxury accommodation, but served the purpose of a good nights sleep before heading off to other hotel in the area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Shower didn't drain very well, so was more like a bath tub, but for one night was fine. Breakfast was as expected. Similar vibe to Courtyard or Fairfield Inn in the US.
Staff were fantastic, so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was classic Peru hostel but with eggs!! Which was great. Wifi was very reliable and the room was quite spacious. The hostel is about 15 minute walk from the main plaza which suited us fine and we walked back from there even after midnight with no issues. Great value for money.
It’s an extremely beautiful hotel, a very nice place to stay and enjoy lake Titicaca. The owner of this hotel and his family are very nice and helpful. Although it is chilly outside, they keep us comfortable inside. They also assist to arrange transportation for us.
Beautiful views of Puno and Lake Titicaca, a comfy bed, a nice heater for cold nights, and the staff was so kind to not only hold our bags after we checked out, but also walk us a few streets over to our airport shuttle when a parade was blocking it.
The staff - especially Maria - were really great and helpful to attend to every need, booking taxis and giving advice, etc. The room was very clean. The hotel helped to organise a great tour for us on Lake Titicaca for a good price.
Great central position in Puno. Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money. This hotel was the cheapest we'd stayed in during our time in Peru but just as good as others costing twice as much per night.
This hotel is probably one of the best that we stayed in Peru. The room was extremely clean and the bed was super comfortable. It is right in the city centre and has a very good breakfast. Highly recommended
The hotel boasted an excellent location, offering breathtaking views, especially during dawn. The breakfast was superb, featuring a table with gluten-free options, and the service was commendable.
Large bed and modern radiator in the room so that you can control the heating, not always an option in Peru. Reception staff were very friendly. Right in the middle of Puno town. Good value.
Mama Leia and Papa Mario make you feel at home at all times. The food was delicious and we slept super comfortably.
A great place to relax from the hustle and bustle of Peruvian cities.
