Incredible archeology sites within 20 minutes by taxi: Chan Chan merits a visit of 2-3 hours, same for La Huaca de la Luna. It's more like a 2 hour drive to reach el Brujo, another amazing site. Trujillo itself has a really nice old town with a gorgeous cathedral, buzzing main plaza, and lively pedestrian streets. Good restaurants, especially Al Dente Trattoria. Outside the old town, San Andres is a pleasant residential area nearby. Huanchaco is a fun seaside town just a quick ride away. Uber is cheap and easy.

It is an excellent city if you stay in the central square. There are several shopping streets on the main square that are safe a full of activity. Trujillo also has excellent archeological sites that are well worth the visit.

We were in Trujillo for 2 days, 3 nights which was about right . The archeological sites nearby are well worth it, the square is pretty, nice colors And architecture , and there are good restaurants. Definitely stay around the square. That said, I wouldn’t make a special trip here unless you are needing to stop on the way North or South or you are an archeology person. One day we went to Huanchaco which was a bit of a disappointment- very scrappy town , interesting sort of.. but honestly don’t expect a charming beach town . The surrounding area is depressing. We did see the classic boats near the pier and had high hopes for a restaurant “Big Ben” It had great 3rd floor views, was clean and pleasant service but the food and uninspired menu a bland disappointment. Prices were high for the area . We weren’t sure if the other restaurants were safe for Gringo stomachs ! No Uber , taxis are cheap . The Archeological museum run by the University in Trujillo is small but excellent -

It is a phenomenal city but there is a lot of crime and I think it best to only be out and about with a local citizen who knows when and where trouble is brewing. I loved the restaurants, the archeology sites, the ocean, the ancient buildings, Chan Chan, the booze, Pisces and on and on. I will return..

I would recommend, costal the sol hotel because safety, and all all personal has good customer services respectfully, trust general manager is good Mr Luis take care any error make his employee loved loved, breakfast loved
The host, Junior, was amazing. He showed me around the farm and helped me figure out what to do with my days. The property is beautiful and secluded. Junior has done a great job designing the place to be eco friendly and unique. Super chill and would be great for a group of friends. It’s close to Huanchaco and the airport. Trujillo is a little rough around the edges, so it was nice to be in a rural setting a little off the grid.
The host was extremely friendly and helpful from the beginning of my stay. He was always available to answer questions about the accommodation and about the city of Trujillo. He accommodated my schedule for the room cleanings, and went out of his way to provide additional amenities that I requested, including a microwave. I felt very safe at his residence. I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Trujillo.
They gave me a room at floor 9 with great views. The breakfast buffet at floor 11 is very good and so are the sunsets that you can enjoy from floor 11. It’s a commercial hotel but still the staff is always friendly and helpful. The hotel and the staff made that I extended my stay for one more day.
Hotel was fine, nice and clean, but older than the pictures make out. No dog smell as other users have said. It just smells old. It is clean, friendly and for us there was a good petrol/gas station next door. Its good to bounce through on the way north or south. Secure parking is onsite.
Location and proximity to Plaza de Armas is great. You can't avoid the taxi ride from the city's main bus terminal to the hotel though, so be mindful of that. The bed was nice and comfy. Wifi worked. Hot water was really good. The cleaning of the room was excellent.
Very good located place in a safe neighborhood near Plaza de Armas of Trujillo. Comfortable room for the price and owner Oscar is friendly and can help you with visiting local gems. Recommended!
The room and hotel were very clean overall. It's a central location which is wonderful. I received a complimentary drink of my choice and the breakfast was statisfying.
Nice hotel in a good area of Trujillo. Close to city center. Good facilities and helpful staff. Had an issue with the airconditioning first day but it was solved asap.
the staff are friendly and helpful
