Incredible archeology sites within 20 minutes by taxi: Chan Chan merits a visit of 2-3 hours, same for La Huaca de la Luna. It's more like a 2 hour drive to reach el Brujo, another amazing site. Trujillo itself has a really nice old town with a gorgeous cathedral, buzzing main plaza, and lively pedestrian streets. Good restaurants, especially Al Dente Trattoria. Outside the old town, San Andres is a pleasant residential area nearby. Huanchaco is a fun seaside town just a quick ride away. Uber is cheap and easy.

We were in Trujillo for 2 days, 3 nights which was about right . The archeological sites nearby are well worth it, the square is pretty, nice colors And architecture , and there are good restaurants. Definitely stay around the square. That said, I wouldn’t make a special trip here unless you are needing to stop on the way North or South or you are an archeology person. One day we went to Huanchaco which was a bit of a disappointment- very scrappy town , interesting sort of.. but honestly don’t expect a charming beach town . The surrounding area is depressing. We did see the classic boats near the pier and had high hopes for a restaurant “Big Ben” It had great 3rd floor views, was clean and pleasant service but the food and uninspired menu a bland disappointment. Prices were high for the area . We weren’t sure if the other restaurants were safe for Gringo stomachs ! No Uber , taxis are cheap . The Archeological museum run by the University in Trujillo is small but excellent -

It is a phenomenal city but there is a lot of crime and I think it best to only be out and about with a local citizen who knows when and where trouble is brewing. I loved the restaurants, the archeology sites, the ocean, the ancient buildings, Chan Chan, the booze, Pisces and on and on. I will return..

I would recommend, costal the sol hotel because safety, and all all personal has good customer services respectfully, trust general manager is good Mr Luis take care any error make his employee loved loved, breakfast loved
The host, Junior, was amazing. He showed me around the farm and helped me figure out what to do with my days. The property is beautiful and secluded. Junior has done a great job designing the place to be eco friendly and unique. Super chill and would be great for a group of friends. It’s close to Huanchaco and the airport. Trujillo is a little rough around the edges, so it was nice to be in a rural setting a little off the grid.
Staff gave us a good welcome when we arrived and allowed us to check in a little early. Be aware that there is no lift so you may have to climb some stairs. The hotel is well-located less than ten minutes from the main square and the pedestrian streets. The shower was good - but see comment below about the weird connecting wall in the bathroom - as was the internet. Breakfast is good.
The bed and towel is clean. The hotel also located just two blocks from Jr. Pizzaro so its easy to find food or sight-seeing until plaza de armas.
The breakfast is simple but nice, they give you egg, cheese, ham, yogurt, fresh bread, fruits, and juice.
The wifi is good, the TV also have a lot of channels with live sports channel too including football.
Great host, location and wifi connection. The terrace is also a huge plus. I really enjoyed my stay at this place, although I didn´t like the city itself that much. If ever returning to Trujillo, I would definitely stay here again and do recommend this accommodation to anybody!
The staff were incredibly helpful…from getting us I to a popular sushi restaurant on a Friday night, to packing us a snack for our early morning flight. Fantastic value & would absolutely stay again if we returned to Trujillo!
Excellent location with a beautiful lobby and great enclosed parking. Staff was friendly and helpful. They allowed us to use the property for parking during the day despite checking out early. Hotel has been upgraded.
In general, this is a luxurious hotel, spacious and all the comforts you would expect are present. There is also good coordination with taxis which is essential to get from the hotel to other parts of Trujillo.
Lovely pool next to our hotel which we could used for 10 sol each per day. They do like to play the music very loud all day so if you want a quiet place its not for you. The room was clean & comfortable.
The hotel is great especially Alberto. All of his attentions are so nice. He really try to help you in any step of your trip. The price is cheap for this quality of service. Thank you so much Alberto!
Location is about three blocks from the Plaza de Armas. Restaurant on property - food very good. Friendly staff. Street of shops about a block away. Hotel very clean.
The hotel is right at the main square, where all main sites can be visited on foot. Great breakfast, a nice gym make the place a perfect place after a busy day
