I really liked Paracas.
I really liked Paracas. It's a small beach resort with plenty bars, restaurants and shops.
There appears to be only two ATM's and the one in the main section near the beach will charge you 25 soles a pop so bear that in mind.
It's great for visiting the National Reserve Park - you'd need to either hire a buggy/scooter or go with a tour in my opinion. It's big and it's beautiful. It closes at 4pm so you wouldn't want to leave it too late.
You can also visit Las Islas Ballestas - mini Galapagos in Peru. It's gorgeous and I'm not a bird lover. The boat trip alone is a winner for me
You can also go kayaking and there are two small water parks/water based activities along the beach too.
It's hot so don't forget the sunscreen. I was just there and it's April which is their Autumn.
I spent about 4 nights there and I really enjoyed just walking the beach and relaxing.

Paracas was not the best stop on my Peru trip.
Paracas was not the best stop on my Peru trip. First of all, lots of visitors got heavy stomach problems once in Paracas (it is probably the water). The best part is to visit the natural Reserva. The Islas Ballestas islands is not the best...I mean the boats are going there constantly full of tourists...I do not think it is the best for the animals that live there..We were told that due to climate change they are also not reproducing anymore so soon no Humboldt penguins or pelicanos will be there. The bets would be close this area from tourists...

Paracas has some really beautiful sights.
Paracas has some really beautiful sights. Ballestas islands are a must see and the national park is beautiful!
Paracas Beach is crowded and not very clean. And the minimarts are very expensive compared to other places in Peru- stock up on snacks and water before you you arrive!

We planned two full days, which was great for a relaxing vacation, but we could have done Paracas with one full day. Next time, I would plan to visit the Islas Ballestas at 8am the first morning, have lunch in town afterwards, then visit the National Reserve in the afternoon. Visiting the reserve in the morning was probably better, since the wind is a problem in the afternoon, but it could still be done in one day. Either way, if you're in Paracas you must see both the islands and the reserve. Plan for a ceviche lunch at Playa Lagunillas.

The visit to the Ballestas Islands is really worth it, and the quality of the tour is fair, but I regretted to not have been able to spend more time there; we went back about 30 minutes earlier than planned, and we stayed like barely 5 minutes to observe the sea lions from close.
The other main tour is the Paracas natural reserve, which in itself is beautiful, but the tour was not so great, as we made several stops which were not so necessary to me and when we finally made it to the main spot which was playa Lagunilla, we didn't have time to take a swim.

Cute little town to visit for a day and do the bird island excursion. Although the boats are packed and your knees will hurt from sitting in tight quarters. Everyone stood up once we got there and we had a hard time seeing anything. Beach is dirty, busy and not worth it. But it's Peru and it's interesting none the less.
My wife & I loved everything about this hotel.
The staff was always there to help and was extremely friendly. The restaurant/kitchen made amazing food we tried numerous things on the menu and nothing disappointed. The room super comfortable and clean. We used the pool and kayak and had a lot of fun.
Wish we stayed longer and can’t wait to return one day! Perfect getaway for anybody trying to relax and wind down from all the traveling in Peru. Would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Paracas every time.
This is beautiful hotel. We had a sea view room with a big balcony with chairs and a lounger. The grounds are immaculate with huge pools (the small one heated in winter). The beach is not very nice. Grey sand and lots of seaweed, but too cold to swim when we were there (Sept) anyway. Best of all is the staff. Everyone smiled and very helpful with everything. Booking tours and taxis. My husband was sick and the receptionist got him tablets for his stomach. Thanks everyone!
This is more of a B&B than a hotel in that you may have to ring the doorbell because there may not be anyone hovering near the front desk . . . They may be working to keep this place spotlessly clean, and I don't know how they did it, considering that Paracas is nestled between the beach and the desert? There are comfortable common space on each of the floors and a rooftop terrace where breakfast is served. I would definitely stay here again if in Paracas!
Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. Breakfast was across the street on the Hotel Frayles, and it was very good. We Booked the Hostal Los Frayles by mistake thinking it was the "Hotel" Los Frayles. We were surprised to have a great experience. Beds were good - firm but very comfy. Very nice and quiet room. That night it was $30. A very good deal for a nice stay.
Small hostel with sea view rooms available. Basic breakfast is included at its sister hotel across the road. Room was spacious, comfortable and very clean - a little warm without aircon, but an effective fan was provided. Window open at night wasn't possible due to the local karaoke! Paracas is a small town, so nowhere is very far away (restaurants, bus station etc)
The hotel was very comfortable with spacious rooms. There was a big kitchen and living room. The location is in a quiet area of Paracas, still in walking distance to the port. The hosts were very pleasant. We were able to park our car for free and leave it while we went for tours of the area.
This is a very new property within easy walking distance of the main area of Paracas. The room was very comfortable. there was a nice sitting area outside. The hotel is located on a dirt road and there are many unfinished building in the area. The breakfast was nice. I would stay again.
Hotel has everything you need in this place. Hotel restaurant is wonderful with great ceviche and pina colada. Personal was supernice. And the window view? Just breathtaking. If you are staying in this hotel, you do not need to go anywhere else (in Paracas) for the better.
Everything is great: location, room, breakfast with a view, free bikes for guests... but the best thing is definitely the staff! I've never had any hotel staff go so much out of their way to make us feel at home. Thank you so much! We feel incredibly privileged.
The hotel was lovely and clean, the rooms were nice and modern and it had an outdoor area for you to have some downtime in. The food in Paracas wasn’t great, however we ate in the hotel one evening which was great and would definitely recommend doing.
Good location, 5 minutes walk to bus terminal and 1 minute walk to center where restaurants and shops located. Host was excellent, she was very very very nice lady, she made us breakfast. Whatever you need, she'll try her best
The staff members are incredible. They are always ready to go above and beyond. Shout to to Miguel, Wilder, and Fiorella for making mine and my mothers stay the best
Bed was huge and very comfortable and the shower was the best I have had in 3 weeks of travelling. Convenient location for Paracas centre and the bus station.
Good value basic family run hotel in Paracas. Good location close to the beach. Very simple but good value for the area and accomodation. Very strong wi-fi!
