We liked the experience of living in the middle of the Forest. At night, you can hear all of the animals in their own habitat.

Lodge is at the end of a long wooded road along Rio Shilcayo so it is much cooler than in town. it is quiet with only the noise of the forest around it. There are only a few bungalows on the property and thus just a small number of guests on the property. the property is adjacent to a nature reserve Alto Shilcayo. Alto Shilcayo has a variety of trails you can take, ranging from a short 45 minute walk to hikes that go many kilometers into the jungle and will take the whole day to hike. the property has beautiful birds including parrots/parokeets, tanagers, wrens, owls, kingfishers. the lodge is involved with cultivating and planting native plants to the property. every day I saw many Tamarin families (very small monkeys).

I love staying here. It is like being immersed in the jungle while still having the comforts of home. I come here to have quiet and peace but also be close enough to town. It is a beautiful 45-minute easy walk to town, right by the river, so a great way to get exercise, and generally a 20 soles ride back in a mototaxi. You can walk down the road and find many wonderful places to take a dip in the river or you can just stay in your bungalow or be by the pool and take in all of the sounds and sights and beauty of nature. You can also access the Ayahuasca Museum and Wildlife Refuge on the way into town. The kitchen is very nice and open to use to cook your own food and the breakfast is wonderful, with fresh baked bread and fresh fruits and juice. The staff is available and helpful.

Breakfast was great, fresh fruit and yummy homemade bread they were willing to share the recipe for! The night walk tour was really cool, up the hill then around the ponds. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. Bungalow felt like a treehouse perch away from the town. Limited solar power, but sufficient to charge our phones!

Beautiful eco lodge just outside the city, enough to get some quiet and peace in the jungle, but also be close to the city and tours. Very friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful bungalow! The place is close to a rescue center called Urku which is amazing, and right at the entrance to Cordillera escalera, where you can do walks from.
