Papeete at first glance could be a nice place to stay. Warm weather, good food and drinks. Seafront promenade is just gorgeous. But a lot of homeless people and dogs are as decay for the city. Well, some of the US cities like Phili are the same...

The French influence in Tahiti is everywhere and I loved it.
The French influence in Tahiti is everywhere and I loved it. Food is amazing, I had great meals out and the Carrefour supermarkets are better stocked than my local supermarkets here in the UK. I just liked the vibe. There are lots of places to eat and drink, decent shopping to be had and I liked the people. The port where you can catch boats to other islands is in town too!

I enjoyed the Markets the most and the street stalls. I loved the fresh pastries - especially the bread sticks I found finding a place in town was better for us, as the cost for taxi's was very pricey. I would avoid staying out in the suburbs and ensure to have an offline currency converter handy as there were times i got caught off guard and ended paying double the amount I intended.SharnaCook Islands - 4.0Scored 4.0

Little to do in the city aside from shopping. That all stops on Sundays entirely, and largely disappears on Saturday afternoons too. Public transport is almost impossible, not helped by the website or the tourism office. There are no beaches walkable from the city centre, so you're left needing to find a tour, a public bus (not on sundays though), or renting a car/scooter.NeilNew Zealand - 6.0Scored 6.0

Papeete is a good destination. Don' stay at hotes downtown. Too hard n to get around with uneven footpaths and cars parked were pedestrians should have access. Stay at a resort west of the airport

Papeete as a city is not the nicest to look at but we enjoyed our time here. The town centre is bustling, market very cool and the waterfront area is lovely. Lots of good places to eat and great to walk around.

Three blocks from cruise/ferry dock, grocery store 1.5 blocks away, Papeete market six blocks away, perfect! The studio was outfitted with everything you need in the kitchen, gorgeous pool on the top of the building however there are no chairs so it’s just the pool. Wonderful view from the pool area however. We were met and picked up at the airport by Carlos who was a delight, he showed us a few things as we went between airport and the apartment and he was a definite highlight.

The best service for staying here is that you get ride to airport or ferry terminal any time and you don't have to stress out for availability of taxi at odd hours. We had an early morning flight and host gave us a ride (for a fee), that was very useful. Room was big with comfortable bed. Bathroom was very spacious with updated fixtures. Fridge and microwave were useful.

The roof top bar and restaurant are the best and cool spots for both tourists and locals. If you are looking for hippest places to hangout, this is it. Although they are not party of the hotel. Breakfast omelet is excellent!! But still a bit over priced since the buffet is quite limited, $25/head.

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a room with sea view and hot tub. It was great. Restaurant is really good; we ate really well, and service was great. Beach is nice, black sand. We did not swim much but it was fun to play with the waves. Pool is amazing. Great happy hour. Overall, a great place.
