The French influence in Tahiti is everywhere and I loved it.
The French influence in Tahiti is everywhere and I loved it. Food is amazing, I had great meals out and the Carrefour supermarkets are better stocked than my local supermarkets here in the UK. I just liked the vibe. There are lots of places to eat and drink, decent shopping to be had and I liked the people. The port where you can catch boats to other islands is in town too!

I enjoyed the Markets the most and the street stalls.

I loved the fresh pastries - especially the bread sticks
I found finding a place in town was better for us, as the cost for taxi's was very pricey.
I would avoid staying out in the suburbs and ensure to have an offline currency converter handy as there were times i got caught off guard and ended paying double the amount I intended.

Little to do in the city aside from shopping.
Little to do in the city aside from shopping. That all stops on Sundays entirely, and largely disappears on Saturday afternoons too. Public transport is almost impossible, not helped by the website or the tourism office. There are no beaches walkable from the city centre, so you're left needing to find a tour, a public bus (not on sundays though), or renting a car/scooter.

Papeete is a good destination. Don' stay at hotes downtown.
Papeete is a good destination. Don' stay at hotes downtown. Too hard n to get around with uneven footpaths and cars parked were pedestrians should have access. Stay at a resort west of the airport

Papeete as a city is not the nicest to look at but we enjoyed our time here. The town centre is bustling, market very cool and the waterfront area is lovely. Lots of good places to eat and great to walk around.

Papetee is a lovely town with great infrastructure and facilities. There are many nice boutique shops as well as big supermarkets for groceries. There is an active and fun nightlife on Friday and Saturday nights. There are many nice restaurants and bars. It is however a very expensive place. Due to the i,portation of most produce there is a high ticket price on pretty much everything. To keep costs down I recommend a self catered accomodation type.
More than anything, the hosts Jackie and Joy were wonderful! Jackie stayed in constant communication to insure I found the apt and Joy was incredibly accommodating, even providing a transfer to the airport at an ungodly hour.
This is a spotless apt, has everything you need, and in a great location. However, it is basic accommodations. It’s not a five star hotel. It was perfect for my needs, but if you’re hoping for a resort with a pool, this is not for you.
The Kon Tiki is perfectly located for your first and last nights in Papeete. It is right across the road from the ferry and 10 minutes by cab to the airport. It is clean with a cool design vibe, very friendly staff, rooftop bar and cafe, and close to downtown Papeete. We were able to check out the city and then retreat to our air-conditioned room to sleep off our jetlag. A great place to begin and end your time in French Polynesia.
We made our own breakfast, kitchen was so nice and clean and the owner went out of his way to make sure we had , water ,juice , coffee ,tea plus 2 cans of beer for the boys . We were very pleased with the service provided by the owner. He helped as we get into the property and picked us from airport, dropped us to town and picked us again. Can't thank him enough. Best service ever, we are giving five star 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟.
The room was very spacious; it looked like it has been renovated and had a great view of the ocean. The beach was nice as well with black sand. Nice pool area as well. I believe the hotel offered a shuttle to the city market. Otherwise, you would need a car to explore the island. It is about a 20-25 min. ride from the Airport. Since I was there for one 1 nigth, I did not have a chance to explore the island.
Very spacious bedroom and bath for the four of us. Super clean and very friendly hosts. Great location in the center of Papeete close to restaurants, super market, waterfront, ferry terminal. All within 5-10 minute walk. Despite the central location it is very quiet except for the occasional rooster which you will hear everywhere in Tahiti.
Nice spot ,close to aeroport ,not so far from center ,host are lovely and so helpful, they can take and drop U to airport or to the city any time of the day for little price compared to taxi and they also orgonize cheaper hiking and tour of Tahiti
Lovely place if U are travelling budget
I will recommend this place
Like a capsule pod room but better! Shared facilities & common area were immaculate. Central location, directly across from ferry port, 5 min walk to Papeete Market. Has a rooftop bar & restaurant. 24 hour check in, luggage storage available on check out. Can’t fault this place!
Everyone was very nice. They arranged our transportation from the ferry, to the hotel, then to the airport. The food was very good. Everything was very clean. I would definitely stay here again. The black sand beach was very silky. Beautiful grounds.
A great and convenient place to stay in Papeete. Hotel Sarah Nui is super close to the ferry terminal. The room was amazing. The bed was comfortable as well. There is free parking in the parking garage below the hotel.
Perfect place when arriving in Tahiti as a first stop. When raveling around the islands this is the last hotel you will see as we know it in Europe. And in pretty Tahitian style to get used to it:)!
Perfect stop off in Papeete. Lovely breakfast with great views over the sea. Huge room, friendly staff. Quiet and a little out of town but on a bus route with frequent buses. Food Trucks very close.
close to the airport, close to the small shopping centre. All you need for a short stop over. Relax
and recover before your next trip. Plunge into infinity pool if you fancy a swim on a hot day.
The service here is top! I really like everything about this hotel! The room was nice and clean, with a big nice bed - omg the sheets was the softest! It’s close to the centrum as well.
I liked: Location. Proximity to ferry, to supermarket and to Papeete market. Private terrace. Nespresso coffee machine. Late night Airport pickup was very welcome.
Close to Papeete Centre just a 15 min walk. Very good bathroom and room.
Also a nice bar and restaurant.
The free transfers to and from the Ferry + Airport.
