With a rich mix of influences from Indians, Chinese, Spanish and Americans, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic centre. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonisation, Manila became an important city, known as the ‘Pearl of Orient’.
Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.
Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila, “The City of Our Affections” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.
Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.
For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City, where a second cluster of hotels are located.
Manila has good food. Try halo-halo to help you with the hot weather here
For transport I would recommend booking through ride hailing apps for safer and smoother transactions. Avoid those white regular taxis. You can book Grab for convenient car ride around the Metro, motorcycle option (Move It, Angkas, Joyride) is also common in Manila bec of the traffic. Food delivery is also available in the Grab app with lots of options.
For clothing, the usual H&M, Zara, Nike, etc. is everywhere, for local brands you can try taking home from Bench or Penshoppe which is cheaper and good quality
Airport, make sure to be there earlier since immigration and check in counters can be very long and slow. Can be very traffic going there as well
Avoid walking around sketchy places and neighborhoods especially at night.
BGC, Ortigas and Makati are pretty safe places
Card payment available almost everywhere, except of course on street food and jeepneys/buses/train
Tipping, not mandatory unlike other countries but staff/crew would be glad to accept anything

Metropolitan Manila is a very interesting Asian City.
Metropolitan Manila is a very interesting Asian City. The US Dollar to Philippine Peso exchange rate was favorable to US travelers, so meals, taxis/Grab ride-shares and hotel prices were made more affordable. Tons and tons of restaurants and entertainment options available just about everywhere you go. Spas and massages are very reasonably priced, and so are beauty and nail salons. There are at least 4 major casinos: Okada, City of Dreams, Solaire and Newport (?). Dampas are a must for first time travelers-this is a place where you buy your seafood from a fresh market and take your purchase to a nearby restaurant to have them cooked to your specifications (for a separate fee, of course). Shopping malls are numerous and a great draw for crowds, especially on weekends. Post-COVID major name entertainment is coming back, but still a little on the slow side at this point.

Manila is good for those that wanted to see the city and who loves to shop as it is where you will find the biggest shopping mall in Asia (Mall of Asia). There are also places where you can see and experience the history and culture of the Philippines (Visiting Intramuros and Luneta for example).

Manila has some places to visit and see.
Manila has some places to visit and see. However three weeks for me was too long. Take a tour that helped and was fun. Plenty of nice rooftop bars and eateries. Do stay at a 5-star hotel, my recommendation is City Garden Grand with a rooftop bar called Fire- top any thing less was a huge disappointment. The WI-FI and internet is terrible. I was not able to use my cell phone until I was back at the hotel using WI-FI, Verizon sent me a bill for 823.00 dealing with that now.
I played golf and the pubic golf courses along with a set of 20 year old golf clubs rentals was terrible, but a great experience was had learning about some history of the surrounding areas. I travel to a couple of places to meet a friend and it was okay, too far to Travel for what you get.

Manila is a condo located on the 57th floor of SMDC Air Residence, hence very difficult to locate and you simply can't enter freely. You have to call the owner to register you at the front desk and hand in to you the keys.
Breakfast was not provided but the place is complete with amenities ie: refrigerator, microwave oven, induction stove, rice cooker, kettle and dinnerware. You can prepare your food while watching TV.
If you are not keen on cooking there are various restaurants at the ground floor for you to choose.
Other things like a flat-iron, hair dryer, game sets, aromatherapy lamp and extension cords were provided and for other things you might need you simply have to ask,
I was delayed in checking out so they put my things in one big bag to clean up the room for the next occupant which was okay with me because I was also in rush to catch my flight.
It is located across from the terminal 4. It is close to many restaurants. The staff was very helpful in getting me there with the free shuttle. They were also helpful in getting me to the airport on time. I wanted to leave two hours before flight time and the very smart lady at the front desk said three hours for the international flight. She was correct because it took longer than I expected to get through the lines for my flight. I am not a big fan of Manila but this hotel has made me change my mind about layovers there.
One day before I booked a secure booking when my flight araived at Manila airport I took taxi to Stay cation Gate mane not allowed me in he say proseger to go in not complete 15 days before pay on line security deposit how it possible there is no one helping hand so I can not able to get again I took taxi to near another hotel after 4 hours I took tics to Germany so bad day I became sick how I take my money
it is a great hotel in Makati area, good value of money, not far from airport. nice view. Thera are some dishes, small fridge even a microwave in the room. grosery in front of hotel. next to hotel is starbucks and local food restaurant. so location is perfect. about 400 pesos with grab to main Manila’s tourist places.helpful and polite staff. it was good choise to stay few nights in this hotel after a long flight.
Loves my room on the 28th floor (the view was amazing) and the rooftop terrace and swimming pool there. Best views of the city. Felt safe in the area, close to Makati's shopping mall, parks, and museums - went there on foot. The room was big and spacious. I worked from Manila, so needed good-quality internet and in the hotel - had no problems with the WiFi (had many calls while staying there).
The hotel is located in the prestigious Makati district. Shopping centers and supermarkets are within walking distance, there is a party street nearby. The rooms fully correspond to the description and photos, great staff ready to help! I recommend it to everyone for the duration of small connections in Manila, half an hour to the airport without traffic jams!
Front desk check in and out are very convenient, friendly, and amazing! I love the linens, the bed, the scent of the whole hotel. Lobby staff are very gracious, helpful and attentive to guests. The elevators are quick and more than enough. Airport shuttle is my favorite. It is the best way to fly out of manila. extremely convenient, fast and it's free.
Everything!
Location..the facilities..cleanliness..
the view..the food..
not expensive compared to other 5 star hotels in makati.. Hotel is beautiful along with great customer service, the security, staff from the front desk to the restaurant servers!!! Everyone was well trained in having exceptional customer service !
Toilet controls and curtains.
Breakfast menu is good but it is too expensive for its available menu, not good value for money.
Staffs are very helpful
Security is very good.
Hotel is good but there are other 5 star hotels in Manila which is better and good value for money.
This is my go to hotel every time I fly through Manila. The property is not only beautiful but it is the standard for cleanliness. The staff is Always Amazing and care about you having a Great stay. You will Never be disappointed when you book at The Belmont.
Miss Jhoy and all the attendants of the hotel are very nice and accommodating. The unit was so clean and complete when we arrived. Aesthetic looking living room and very organised kitchen. Will book again soon once I'm back in Manila. Thank you so so much!
The hotel is overall very good for those who wanted to visit Manila and to be near at the Airport and MOA. The staffs are helpful and very corteous. You can also find fastfood and groceries around the hotel.
Decent hotel and a room. The location is ok, but in the evening I felt unsafe walking to the hotel. However, it's more about my impression of Manila as a dangerous city, not about the hotel.
The hotel was clean and close to many restaurants in Makati region. The staff were very helpful and worked to help with all our requests. Good value for money for a quick stay in Manila.
I like this hotel and always stay here when in Manila. The rooms are small but comfortable. Excellent buffet breakfast and service. Great location just steps from Greenbelt in Makati.
I like the cleanliness of the room, and the courtesy of the hotel staff. Also like the price of the hotel room, and the location of the hotel within metro Manila.
