This was my first trip but I felt like I barley scratched the surface of what is obviously a culturally rich island that continues to play a significant role in our history. I plan to attended at least one of the upcoming - Fiesta de Reyes Juanadina, in the town of Juana Díaz, Fiesta de Reyes Isabelinos, in Isabela, and Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián!!

I had great weather while I was there and that made a difference. I was able to take the bus to old town which was a big help. I was fully satisfied on taking in all I could while there. The viator "El Unique" tour was great. I would recommend anyone visiting to book a day trip to the forest.
I enjoyed visiting the Catholic churches and the maritime museum in Old town. Lots of souvenir shops and the forts have so much history. I would go back to Puerto Rico again, but probably the east coast. All in all a very much needed vacay.

PR is close to the mainland and yet you feel as if you are in a foreign country while having familiar restaurants and shops such as Walmart, Burger King, KFC, etc. Driving a rental car is fine but Puerto Ricans use the rules of the road as SUGGESTIONS so be warned. Away from San Juan, the driving is easier though the smaller roads can have LOTS of potholes and be narrow. The highways have tolls so ask for the toll sticker when renting a car. Some cars have Apple car play while others do not so bring your own USB cord and perhaps a suction cup phone holder. It is a beautiful island with a varied topography and it takes just 2 hours to go from north to south.

Old San Juan is a small town, easy to walk and everyone was very nice, helpful, and respectful to tourists. Will definitely be back!
Old San Juan- great food at Tijuana, not so great at Senor Frogs.
San Juan- Districto T-Mobile is a must do for good food and entertainment!
room was great and very clean. It was in an ideal part of San Juan just a 2 minute walk to Condado beach and a number of great restaurants. also about 10 minutes by Uber to old San Juan and the airport so a great centralized location. the biggest draw was that the hotel has free to go breakfast that alternates eggs, bacon/sausage, and pancakes/waffles/French toast. staff are very nice and helpful and bilingual English/Spanish speaking. also they provide free umbrellas and chairs to tenants on the beach.
Lovely and tastefully decorated room, beautiful setting, huge and comfortable bed. Easy check-in and check-out. Unfortunately we were only there for one night and had to leave early in the morning so we never met the staff, had breakfast, or used any of the facilities. But the place was very quick to respond online to any questions I had. It's obviously not in the beautiful Old San Juan (hence it's half the price of a hotel there!) but it's a quick and easy taxi ride.
First class hotel, steeped in history, with a beautiful courtyard patio with two restaurants and bars. The location was perfect - we could walk to anywhere we wanted to go in Old San Juan on charming cobblestone streets. Our room was huge, with windows that opened out onto the plaza, which was always fun to observe. Food, drinks and service in the hotel was top rate. The daily wine and cheese reception was great, and we tried to make it each day we were there.
This is a very basic hotel. There are a few amenities like a small kitchen area (in the hotel, not the room) but don't expect anything fancy. That said, the staff were very pleasant and helpful, the rooms were clean and it felt secure. The location is excellent for both access to the beach (good surfing one beach over) and the airport. Old Town is a short cab or Uber away.
Perfect location!!! Since we arrive at the hotel the check in staff were friendly and professional the room was beautiful and with a San Juan bay view!
Is a gorgeous hotel with shops, restaurants and Cafe, we enjoy the infiniti pool with a Old San Juan view and the servers were super nice we really had a great time we will definitely return.
It was close to the airport. The rooms and communal areas were very clean. It is a basic hotel but for the price you can't really go wrong. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms clean, breakfast simple but included in the price, there's even a pool
I would recommend if you need a nights stop over or if you just want a base to explore.
It was very very good. Location wise is 15 minutes walking to Old San Juan with great views next to the waterfront. Save to walk at night too.
The rooms are huge.
Communication with reception is great, all through whatsapp.
Laundry room is great and hotel provides detergent for 1$.
Wifi works well.
Free parking next to reception.
The staff here was super helpful and friendly, they were willing to help us with our luggage. The location was super convenient while being less crowded than those in Old San Juan area or Condado Beach. We walked to the beach with in 5 minutes. The aesthetic of the design of the hotel was brilliant. We had a wonderful time here.
This hotel located right at the airport and is very convenient option if you arrive to San Juan at the middle of the night. Convenient check out time at 12 noon gave us a plenty of time to rest after our flight. Room was on a smaller side, but clean and the bed was comfortable. Check-in was fast and straight to the point.
I loved the views (especially from my balcony). The pool and beach were beautiful and comfortable temperatures. Loved that the pool was open 24/7 and that the resort was right on the beach. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed Fernando (towel guy). His energy and customer service was outstanding.
The room and the public areas were beautifully decorated and the shower was great. The area around the hotel seemed a little sketchy at first, but there were a lot of nice things about it. We discovered couple of nice cafes and an area where the buildings were all painted with murals. We did enjoy our stay.
Front desk staff was exceptional and prime location. Not far from Old San juan, la Placita an other locations. Beach one block away. Walgreen and CVS right across the street and all restaurants and shops around the block from the hotel. Two casino's in either direction 3 blocks from hotel.
Decanter Hotel was in the middle of San Juan everything was no more then a 5-10 min walk to all its historic places, places to eat were very close as well. Our balcony view was spectacular we experienced the nightlife, music and amazing view just from our balcony. This hotel was exceptional.
Well this is a very nice find. Special little hotel which has been done really well. The people are fantastic and the hotel has an amazing restaurant with pool on the roof. I would recommend going! Already have a to friend visiting PR in the next month. I will be back!
lil mold on the shower ceiling.
But overall great Hotel pool and Jacuzzi on roof was great.
Hotel has elevator.
The little coffee stand across the street is clutch, open late to get late night coffee fix.
Restaurants in Old San Juan are better than Condado
Pros: Arguably the best hotel in Old San Juan at present. Excellent location and facilities--great rooftop pool and area. Modern and spacious rooms with high ceilings. The adult-only policy is a plus for couples or solo travelers.
Hotel was very nice. Rooms were very clean and the spa pool is beautiful! It was walking distance from several very nice restaurants and shopping. It could not have been closer to the beach without being on the beach!
The staff is exceptional: very efficient and friendly. The Hotel is a beautiful colonial building in the center of Old San Juan. The open bar 24/7 for guests is a bonus. Short stay but great experience overall.
