FAQs about hotels in Faro
On average, it costs $131 per night to book a 3-star hotel in Faro for tonight. You'll pay around $227 if you choose to stay in a 4-star hotel tonight, while a 5-star hotel in Faro will cost around $263, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.
Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.
The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.
Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!

It's a lived-in, working city and doesn't pretend to put tourists at the forefront. However, tourists are well-catered for and I've spent a few happy days wandering the town on several occasions. Just wear sturdy shoes and have a little torch handy as the pavements/kerbs are no fun!

Lovely parts of this city near Marina, and while there seems to be lots of regeneration the city is quite run down in parts and a huge amount of graffiti. Lovely shopping streets and cafes, and a trip to both the Mar and Forum Algarve shopping centres a great way to spend a few hours. Nice restaurants in marina area and small parks. Well worth a visit but two days here is plenty.

Great for just strolling - some of the back streets are magical. People very friendly and very proud of their city. Take the ferry to Cacilhas and try one of the fish restaurants in the main village there. Go to tourist information and you may want to go further.
In Faro we ate at 8 Tapas, the Tavern, and Velha Casa - just what we wanted with delightful staff. Octopus at the Tavern with two crazy waiters was superb.

I am certain I must have reviewed Faro before, but I doubt I will ever tire of the place so I guess whatever I say about it will always be through those eyes... A city, full of hustle and bustle and yet you can always find somewhere to sit, watch life and reflect... Storks are nesting everywhere, you can almost touch the Trains as they rumble through alongside the river, you can see the Airport and the centrally placed bus station will take you here there and everywhere... It has a proper old bit, with walls and everything, including nesting storks and gorgeous architecture... It has functional bits, the commercial centre, it has a Marina, it has culture, it is a proper City full of real life... You may have guessed already I love it 'ALL'... Alan

Compact and historical. easy to walk round the cobbled streets. Lovely old buildings in the old town, museum and cathedral worth a visit. Some good bars/reataurants. We love the one on the marina (O Cortona) Good food and service, excelent location. Best thing is it is next to the Ria Formosa natural park so plenty of wildlife, bird spotting. Boat trip is a must.

Good for 3 days/ 2 nights - get out to the beaches and islands - cheapest way is by ferry to Praia de Faro - just a few euros.
City is small enough to walk around. Check out 100 Montaditos for cheap snacks
Very up-to-date hotel;; smart, and modern. Room was clean and quiet, even though in a busy area.of town Front desk (Hugo) were polite and friendly. The rooftop restaurant was exceptional, wait staff Joana a lovely person.. we enjoyed the view over the harbour .. underground parking is helpful, in a busy area of the city.
We only stayed one night before catching our flight home at Faro airport. We left too early for breakfast, but were given a boxed breakfast to take with us; juice, sandwiches and an apple.
We stayed in Faro for four nights, extending our stay two nights in this wonderful place. A refurbished old villa in the center of town offers the old-time charm of Portugal paired with modern amenities. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a large kitchen area, a patio and a common area with a piano and a very coold 19th century safe. The proprietors however are the main reason this place rules: Pedro and Paolo are top notch people and very helpful in every way! We can only recommend.
Really great location in faro, close to the train station and all the old town faro. staff were friendly. It is pretty basic and functional, which is great there was an outdoor area and a kitchen which we didn’t use.
I am pretty used to the £7-12 euros per night in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, so £44 for a room felt a bit steep for what we got, but I think, writing this review in retrospect a few days after we’ve left, that is pretty good for Portugal!
Everything is perfect in that house, starting from the little corner at the entrance, then divided in different rooms, and ours was just perfect, even a balcony where you could enjoy a drink at night, very comfortable bathroom with everything you need. It was our last night in Portugal and we really enjoyed it there. I would definitely recommend and certainly come back again when in Faro.
We came to Portugal for our honeymoon. Great location, welcoming and helpful staff.
comfortable beds. Compared to the 2 other hotels we have stayed at on this trip, this hotel was the best. Very delicious breakfast and atmosphere. We stayed at this hotel at the start of our trip, and we liked the hotel that much that we came back for our last night. The best value for money.
Location to Faro Airport, cleanliness and the beds were super comfortable. It’s a new renovation and it’s been very tastefully done.
Breakfast was great 👍
If you are staying for the night and looking for dinner ask them to tell you about their family run restaurant called O Rui .. fresh fish on the beach and it was very very good 😊
Everything was new and clean.
I stayed one night only and arrived late so I could not meet the staff.
I picked up the key from the nearby Hotel and gave it back there too. Everything smooth and communication was great.
The place was very nice and perfectly located to both wander around Faro as well as to reach public transportation
Location was great - very close walking distance to city center in Faro. Staff at the hotel was fantastic - very friendly. As a solo traveler it was a nice added level of security knowing reception was there all the time. Felt very safe to stay here in terms of security measures in place (locked front door/cameras etc.,).
Free plentiful parking.
Spotlessly clean everywhere.
Very comfortable bed and great shower.
Fantastic breakfasts (and available from 04:00 to 12:00).
Five mins drive from the airport and walking distance from Faro centre.
Whilst not a 'resort' hotel, it has a garden and a pool.
Great value for the money.
The location was in the heart of the old city, and perfect. Very close to bus and train stations. The room had a refrigerator, which I have found lacking in Portugal rooms. Also a hair dryer. The staff, especially Chef and Stella, went out of their way to ensure that my room was what I’d booked on booking.com.
Staff exceptionally nice with great recommendations. Hotel also keeps several bikes which you can rent for a whole or half day at a very reasonable price. The rooms are pretty standard hotel rooms with a nice bathroom. We only stayed for one night but felt this was enough to see most of Faro.
The location was perfect. Hostel situated right on the beach. So, from your dormitory you can jump straight to the river. It was amazing!
A lot of restaurants and bars around, bus stop close by . It's the island.
The atmosphere is very friendly.
Big self served kitchen is available
This is an excellent hotel well located in the centre of Faro. The staff are tremendously welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very good value. The complementary spa facilities also make this hotel a perfect base for a short stay in Portugal.
Hotel was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was great value for money. Staff were all superb. The reception staff were so helpful, friendly and professional. It was my first time in Faro and Portugal and the reception staff were extremely helpful. They advised on places to visit.
3HB Faro is hands down one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. the staff are helpful and welcoming, the property is gorgeous and very clean, and you couldn’t ask for a better location. I was sad to leave!
Great hotel for a late night arrival faro airport. Within walking distance from the airport too. Reception staff very friendly. Rooms were modern and very clean. Would definitely recommended.
I loved this place. Everything was so clean, so comfy, so nice. The staff was very friendly and profesional. I really liked this place, one of my now favorite hotels in Portugal and Spain
Breakfast at a good value cafe on the beach. Hotel had v good value self service restaurant/bar open early until late. Excellent location about 6km from airport.
