FAQs about hotels in Cascais

Laid-back Suburban Beach Resort

Cascais is a small city located on the outskirts of Lisbon. Once a fishing village and defence outpost, the royalty transformed it into a stylish summer resort. Mixing beautiful beaches, elegant mansions, imposing fortifications, and a wide variety of hotels, Cascais is a great option for every season.

King Luís II used the city as his summer residence from 1870 to 1908, attracting other celebrities, and changing the destiny of the tranquil village forever. Modern roads and railway lines linking to Lisbon and Sintra were built, as well as a casino and other facilities. Some of the best hotels and 5-star resorts in Cascais date back to these times.

Nowadays, the town is a cosmopolitan beach retreat along the Estoril Coast, where people from Lisbon and other Portugal cities come for a day or weekend escapade. Many foreign tourists prefer its more relaxed hotels over the sometimes hectic Lisbon atmosphere.

Don’t miss the Citadel, rebuilt during the 16th century in a typical star-shaped Renaissance style. Other attractions include the Museum of the Sea and the ‘Paula Rego House of Stories’.

Beach hotels are the gem of Cascais and you can find a wide range on Booking.com. Check your availability with enough time in advance, as the city remains a popular summer destination.

    I love Cascais!

I love Cascais! There are many things to do here and nearby locations too. Great restaurants, shopping, beautiful parks, nature walks, cafes, museums, outdoor markets and not far from Cascais are the palaces of Sintra and even a Moorish castle. There is a train station in Cascais with trains that go directly into Lisbon in about 25 minutes. Without hesitation i recommend a visit to this beautiful city. I think you will love it too!

The nice restaurants along the coast that serves good seafood. My favorite is Mar do Inferno that I can recommend and the restaurant at Albatroz Hotel. Cascais also have good connection with train if you like to visit Lisboa or Sintra.

    Cascais is a beautiful area.

Cascais is a beautiful area. Easily one of the most prettiest places we have stayed in. A beautiful beach, shops, restaurants and an array of beautiful buildings. Easy to pop on the train to Lisbon which took 40 mins and worth the few euros it cost. We visited in Nov so the weather wasn't hot but we had a lovely warm breeze plus a few showers but you expect that at that time of year.

This in my favourite town in Portugal (though I've yet to visit Porto). This was our 4th visit. Don't stay in Lisbon, stay in Cascais and visit Lisbon by train. There are many inexpensive yet good restaurants. It is a beautiful place.

The BCascais staff (Mara, Bruna, and Ricardo) were so welcoming and attentive! Mara went out of her way to ensure our baby boy had pancakes each morning and even had a table specially prepared for us with baby utensils and plates. She also made sure to relay this information to Bruna so she could also prepare in the same way for us! We LOVED the breakfast each morning, the smell of the entire hotel, and the location. The Loft room was perfect for our family as we felt like we had more than enough room for us and our active baby.

Dream Guinho is an incredibly impressive hotel. Despite my familiarity with the area, I was pleasantly surprised by its beautiful wooden design. The staff is exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and well-trained. Everything is perfectly arranged, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. I wish I could have stayed longer to fully enjoy the hotel. The rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable, offering a breathtaking view of the Malvera mountains and Guincho beach. The breakfast provided was both delicious and plentiful.

This hotel was beautiful...it was like staying in a grand estate home. Our room, although pricey, was gorgeous with very comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our included breakfast was very good. Location was exceptional...close to all the restaurants and shops and walking distance to a very nice beach where you can rent chairs and umbrella for the day. There was a music festival going on and we had the luxury of sitting in our room and listening to the live music. We stayed for 3 nights.

Gorgeous room. Spacious, upgraded for free to a sea view with balcony. A real 5 star room.Thank you!! The whole hotel is very beautiful and unique. Nice pools, very clean and covid safe and friendly staff. It seemed a bit quiet, probably because it's off peak season. Short stroll to the town and marina. We asked for a late check out and it was facilitated with no hassle. They are very accommodating in this hotel so will definitely return. Nothing seemed any trouble.

We went to Cascais for a 'break'. This hotel was good for that. The rooms were modern and beds comfortable. The pool was a good size and there was room to lounge around it all day. They had food/drinks by the pool. You can take a short walk towards town and find shops and restaurants, we advise doing that. We got wonderful massages. The breakfast is very good and you have a nice view of the ocean. The staff was helpful.

Amazing building with a gorgeous backyard and pool - one of the prettiest gardens I’ve seen at a hotel. The breakfast exceeded our expectations as well as the 24 hour free coffee machines! We also loved the location. It’s away from touristy bits and the city is so small it takes only ten minutes to walk to the beach anyway.

Staff was professional, answered all my question and gave plenty suggestions. Hotel structures is small but elegant and comfortable; all premises were kept very clean. Room was smaller than expected; but also very clean and organized. We would definitely stay at Farol Hotel if we go back to Cascais.
