The Capital of Old and New
The Saudi Arabian capital, sprawling Riyadh is a mix of historic monuments and ultra-modern skyscrapers. On a plateau surrounded by desert, it is one of the Middle East’s richest cities, so there are several 5-star hotels in Riyadh.
This wealth is also evident in modern architecture, particularly the Kingdom Centre, a perfectly sculpted building looking strangely like a bottle opener. Lit at night, it has an observation deck offering fantastic city views.
On its bottom floor is a shopping mall, and there is another within Al Faisaliyah, the country’s 1st skyscraper. Riyadh is a shopping paradise and yet more malls are on wide, palm-lined King Fahd Road. This king also gave his name to King Fahd Stadium, home of the Saudi football team.
Unusually for a capital, King Khalid International Airport is right in the city centre and there are lots of Riyadh hotels near the airport on Booking.com. South, in Al Murabba, is the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre, site of the Saudi Arabia National Museum. Further south in Dirah is 19th-century Al-Masmak fort with souks and mosques nearby.
Wherever you stay, remember that Saudi Arabia is a deeply Islamic country and that local customs should be respected. Men and women may not be able to access attractions at the same time.

Riyadh is a very big place to hang around and you might never be able to book a stay long enough to discover it in its full. The other thing is that Riyadh is a more liberal place for people to be around, just like a lot of big cities around the world you can see all kinds of different people with different background wandering the streets even though Islamic law prevails, they are not as tough on appearing rules as they may be on the smaller villages and towns in Saudi Arabia. Overall it was good, I was attending a 4 days exhibition and stayed 3 days prior for preparation. Had a chance to go around for 1 day, visit Skybridge, Edge of The World tour, and Diriyah. I was moving around by Uber, which was easy to order. Sometimes facing traffic in downtown areas. Was trying to manage the time not in rush hours. The city has lots of shopping malls and restaurants. The best area for dine in was in Riyadh Front.

The rooms were good and spacious enough and the bed was comfy. The hotel is quite and clean. The reception people are friendly and helped us get an extension for check out till 6 pm for an additional of SAR 100. There is a nice coffee shop attached to the hotel (November Cafe). You get two complimentary water bottle at the room. It is a traditional hotel not like the global chain hotels in terms of luxury and facilities but it was good.
