Paramaribo needs a lot of renovation and there are some suspicious characters in some places at night, but that being said, it is a fascinating and unique place and worth seeing. The fort, the markets, the riverfront, the great food, the cathedral, the synagogue and the palm garden are all worthwhile.

It was a very interesting place with evidence of its multicultural mix of population. Saw lots of Indian and Chinese owned businesses. Didn't see much businesses from other cultures. Saw many monuments of historical significance. Loved the architecture of the buildings. Very disappointed to see so many Casinos in the City with such a small population.

Paramaribo is a safe place, however, when we arrived we were highly prevented about thieves on the street, gangsters etc... people are friendly and attentive, always helpful and ready to provide useful information. tourism is not well developed, however, there are some tourist agencies which organise some tours to jungles and to the closest neighbourhoods... call to Orange, Zuz&zo ... they speak good English. we were in June there so the season of heavy reines started and you should be aware that half of the day you are wet. the rein is warm so you can easily forget a raincoat, but don't forget dry clothes) we didn't have many chances to see animals, however, our guides did their best to find them. so, turtles ponding eggs, dolphins in the river and monkeys in the trees you will see for sure) kitchen - I a consequence of multicultural crossroads - so you eat well, even veggie meals are not a pb to find. the country still is suffering from a low economic level, people are poor, streets, river banks, market places are dirty... but they do a lot of affords to show their best

Paramaribo was nice.
Paramaribo was nice. Not very easy to get around when trying to go shopping and didn't feel like it catered to tourists and very expensive for shopping. They did not take any international credit cards nor did the bank or cambios accept any Guyanese currency for exchange so our spending became limited with the limited USD cash we had.

Very safe for I did not feel threatened, however do not like seeing people asking for money though they do not pester you.
People are friendly and helpful when giving directions, and many know English if you cannot speak Dutch.
But it is important to acquire a street map to find your own way around and get used to the names of streets when locals give directions to find places.

For a small city, there's plenty to see in Paramaribo to keep you busy for a few days at the start or end of your trip (or between excursions). The Waka Pasi makes for great people watching at night, and there are great colonial and modern buildings around the city center. Highly recommend using one afternoon to take a sunset dolphin tour.
Renault was a fantastic host who gave such a warm welcome willing to help with anything I needed. The apartment had everything needed, the bed was comfy & the kitchen was fully stalked. The location was perfect. There is a big modern grocery store across the street where you can find anything you need. Taxis are only a $1 5 min ride to historic city centre, or you can walk 20mins. There's also a gym in the lobby area & the treadmill worked great. Thank you for everything. Looking forward to coming back!
The pool is probably the best pool for recreation in Suriname and we primarily go back for the pool.
In the morning I waited for pancakes for my kids and waited for it up to the point that I couldn't wait for it anymore. The kitchen staff send it to my room late in the morning.
We got an option to check out a little later, because we checked in late.
Compliments to:
-technician that night
-cleaning personnel that night (guy)
-breakfast staff
The hotel staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the hotel itself is a beautiful building. The owner helped us sort out transport, pointed out a place for money change, even walked with us at night to help us find the nearest restaurant. Our kids enjoyed the place a a lot as well. It's very kids friendly and the pool is a lot of fun. Breakfast was also excellent. I would hightly recommend it to others visiting Paramaribo.
Breakfast is sumptuous and the food is good! The staff is good and the facilities in the hotel are good, at least it met my trip demands considering it was an official trip and not luxury.
Jamil, the property manager is responsible and helpful.
Mr Shaika, the owner of the hotel also was very helpful and assisted with getting some medical supplies i had to get, he was kind enough to get it for me.
Located at the beautifull heart of Paramaribo city.
Near a few ''must see'' spots. (Palmentuin, Waterkant, Fort Zeelandia museum)
Room was clean, comfortable bed & pillows, clean towels available every day.
Very friendly staff members at check-in and check-out.
If the weather allows; have some food at the Rooftop, outside.
Very nice views from there.
Great location very close to restaurants and bars. And still quiet because in a side street. Apartment is located a very nice old renovated wooden building that is so typical for Paramaribo. Spacious room that is tastefully decorated. Very responsive owner and staff: everything is well arranged. So all you need as a (business) traveller
The location is very safe. The apartments are comfortable, clean, spacious and well kept. The owner is very kind and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at this apartment and i would certainly recommend this place for couples, familys or groups of friends seeking a place to stay in paramaribo.
This hotel Is misleading, all they know is how quickly you sin the bill, the room was filthy not because of the poor cleaner is because of the unfriendly receptionist who doesn't know which room is cleaned yet.
this hotel should be classified 2 starts even with Suriname standard.
- super friendly manager and staff
- provided us with a reliable taxi driver who drove us every where for a reasonable price.
- apartments are large, clean and well layed out
- we were allowed to store some of our luggage when traveling to the upper Suriname river.
Decent hostel in Paramaribo, not great but not bad. There were other travelers, free coffee, and some of the staff were quite friendly. Balconies outside rooms were nice! Overall just ok, although the whole city is weird so it may be one of the best choices.
Really enjoyed the place, well organized with everything to get you in holiday mood. close to the city center. Quiet and secure at night. Dinesh and Bart were really welcoming and helpful like other people I met in Paramaribo. Thanks you very much.
It was one of the best I ever go to soo far and the staff was soo great I can't even explain and I really love the breakfast and the way everyone treated you it's too much to mention but it was excellent 💖 💗 ❤ 💓....
Good convenient location with walking distance to all of the attractions in Paramaribo.
Very clean, good value and amazing hosts.
Travel services and all the help you will need on the premises.
it is a Cozy small sort of a Boutique Hotel where the staff ( specially a a staff member called Rinesh) but all members in general are very kind, and willing to assist you and help you.
Very central and safe location in the historic quarter.
Extremely nice and helpful staff in the reception.
Good breakfast - try the Surinamese eggs:-).
