Stayed for 1 night as a stop over, before heading to Koh Samet the following day. We then stopped 1 more night on are way back from Koh Samet, which was just at the start of Songkrans. Had an amazing time and cant wait to get back. Although we stayed at the far end of Pattaya, there was still plenty to do and it was more than easy enough walking around or getting local transportation, all at a very reasonable price. Pattaya is not for family holidays. it is one of the sex capitals of the world young girls old and lonely men. if thats your scene this is the place like angeles in phillippines. If looking for a more family or couples type hoiday dont come to the city try Jomtien which is more sedate and a better beach or to the west huan hin or further south krabi. Depends if you are a singel traveller or not and the purpose of the holiday whatever floats your boat ?

Pattaya is a busy little city, attractively situated along a scenic beach. It has limited natural and cultural attractions beyond the obvious main [sex] tourism industry. It is full of bars, massage parlors and shops selling typical tourist items. The city is very crowded with cars, scooters, baht-trucks, taxis and buses. Pedestrians beware! There is a fairly good variety of restaurants - most quite reasonable priced. The city is a magnet for older men seeking the company of Thai women - and therefore not a particularly suitable place (generally speaking) for family vacations - though some luxury hotels offer good facilities for family stays (pools, etc.).
