We really liked the historic part of town - the Ribat is beautiful (with a great guide!). The archaeology museum is definitely worth a visit. The souk was an enjoyable pace and you didn't feel hassled. The restaurants were good. Taxis were cheap and easy to find.
City could do with a big clean up and shows clear signs of suffering financially, but that didn't take away from our trip.

I found Sousse to be a great place to visit if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. I was pleased to discover that the local people were friendly and welcoming, which made my trip more enjoyable and memorable.
One of the highlights of my trip was having a hire car, which allowed me to explore the surrounding areas and discover hidden gems such as the castle. It was fascinating to learn that the castle was the location for the popular movie Monty Python's Life of Brian. This made my trip even more exciting and memorable.
However, it's worth noting that if you're looking for a bustling city with lots of activities to do and places to see, Sousse may not be the best choice. From my experience, Sousse is more of a laid-back destination where you can unwind and relax.
Overall, I had a positive experience visiting Sousse and enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas. Thank you for taking the time to read my review!

The area is beautiful.
The area is beautiful. There are so many activities to do there. The transportation system is excellent and very affordable. You can walk almost everywhere really, but if you are lazy like me, you can either use your phone to order a Bolt taxi or just flag one down on the road.

I used Sousse as a base to travel to other parts of Tunisia by train and car. If you wanted a beach / resort hotel to just chill then this would be an excellent choice. If you wanted more exploration of the history and culture then Sousse is a little limited and I think would "do" all the local things in 2/3 days.

Sousse has a lot of history for a not so big town, walks around the winding streets medina is a real pleasure, forget the main way, try following the walls enclaves where people live and go shopping. There are ateliers shops there and you can see what their projects are. Visit the archeological museum, it is housed in a nice building and has a few interesting treasures. Walk on the beach, it is very relaxing.
Modern property, very nicely presented, clean rooms, spacious and everything worked in the room. Beds comfortable, and lots of plug sockets which is really welcome in this day and age. Food eclectic but can be expected given seasonal nature of produce in Tunisia and ongoing availability issues with certain products. The Asian fusion restaurant is worth a visit! The bar had a nice atmosphere in the evenings with live music. Overall a great hotel for a couple of nights but can’t see it being a great option for longer stays / holidays.
The house is huge. Appropriate for two families maybe - 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, a very spacious living room, a kitchen and a laundry machine.
We really enjoyed the luxury of having such a space (we were just two people). The garden is also cute. The architecture of the house is also very interesting. The neighborhood did not have many things to do, but you could have the basics - atm, market etc
A big mall is 10' drive from the house while the city of Sousse is 10' drive on the opposite direction.
Great location ! We swam in the swimming pool which was huge and clean, the water was a little cool and the weather was very beautiful. We also played football with my children in a large grassy garden and also we played BabyFoot. The place is relaxing and the owner made us taste their traditional dish which was delicious. If we return this summer to Tunisia we will surely return to «Domaine de l’olivier».
Literally everything ! nothing to complain about !
The best hotel I have visited in Tunisia so far, the stuff is incredibly nice and very polite and helpful !
the food was also the highlight of the stay!
the quality is beyond great!
rooms were clean and very comfortable !
the pool is sea water pool , very relaxing and clean!
I highly recommande the hotel, and certainly coming back next summer!
We enjoyed our stay so very much, the hotel à la carte and beachside restaurant is impeccable, the pools are great and the rooms beautiful and location is perfect. A special thanks to Oussama the life guard and the waiter Khalifa. They went out and beyond their way to serve us.
Almost all the staff was wonderful. And the lunch and breakfast buffet was delicious too.
We enjoyed a fantastic and cozy stay, greeted with a warm welcome. The house's traditional charm in the old town pleasantly surprised me, and I loved the delightful breakfast 😋 and the thoughtful surprise from Toto (thanks!). Wel also enjoyed chatting with the other guests, which added to the overall experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sousse!
This is my second time staying at Marhaba Royal Salem and I have to say that this time I liked the hotel much better than my first.
The room was great.
If you have children and you are planning to visit Sousse during summer, then Marhaba Royal Salem should be target as they have best pool in the area where your children will definitely spend great times.
We really enjoyed our staying in this special place.
We loved the place itself, the rooms, the courtyard, the breakfast and of course the special tunisian night music event.
The owners and staff are nice and polite.
