We really liked the historic part of town - the Ribat is beautiful (with a great guide!). The archaeology museum is definitely worth a visit. The souk was an enjoyable pace and you didn't feel hassled. The restaurants were good. Taxis were cheap and easy to find.
City could do with a big clean up and shows clear signs of suffering financially, but that didn't take away from our trip.

I found Sousse to be a great place to visit if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. I was pleased to discover that the local people were friendly and welcoming, which made my trip more enjoyable and memorable.
One of the highlights of my trip was having a hire car, which allowed me to explore the surrounding areas and discover hidden gems such as the castle. It was fascinating to learn that the castle was the location for the popular movie Monty Python's Life of Brian. This made my trip even more exciting and memorable.
However, it's worth noting that if you're looking for a bustling city with lots of activities to do and places to see, Sousse may not be the best choice. From my experience, Sousse is more of a laid-back destination where you can unwind and relax.
Overall, I had a positive experience visiting Sousse and enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas. Thank you for taking the time to read my review!

The area is beautiful.
The area is beautiful. There are so many activities to do there. The transportation system is excellent and very affordable. You can walk almost everywhere really, but if you are lazy like me, you can either use your phone to order a Bolt taxi or just flag one down on the road.

I used Sousse as a base to travel to other parts of Tunisia by train and car. If you wanted a beach / resort hotel to just chill then this would be an excellent choice. If you wanted more exploration of the history and culture then Sousse is a little limited and I think would "do" all the local things in 2/3 days.

Sousse has a lot of history for a not so big town, walks around the winding streets medina is a real pleasure, forget the main way, try following the walls enclaves where people live and go shopping. There are ateliers shops there and you can see what their projects are. Visit the archeological museum, it is housed in a nice building and has a few interesting treasures. Walk on the beach, it is very relaxing.
Modern property, very nicely presented, clean rooms, spacious and everything worked in the room. Beds comfortable, and lots of plug sockets which is really welcome in this day and age. Food eclectic but can be expected given seasonal nature of produce in Tunisia and ongoing availability issues with certain products. The Asian fusion restaurant is worth a visit! The bar had a nice atmosphere in the evenings with live music. Overall a great hotel for a couple of nights but can’t see it being a great option for longer stays / holidays.
Very nice old house at the Sousse medina. Actually, it is two houses united: exquisite decoration and adaptation as hotel, with charming spaces to stay and relax, nice roof with views to the town and a small pool, a small library... And, since it is in the medina, you can easily arrive to the most interesting places to visit. But it is in a very quiet street, silent and far of the noise of the market and shops of other places in the medina. Very kind staff and good breakfast.
Dar Lekbira is a very nicely renovated old Arabian house in the Sousse Medina, decorated with artwork. The hotel is in walking distance from all sights and the train station. Owners, Tunisian-swiss couple, and staff are extremely friendly and helpful, highly recommended for a stay if you're interested in Tunisian culture, art and architecture. Very good dinner and breakfast available if you do not want to go out.
Very kind staff but rooms could be cleaner. Ask for a room on the non-smoking floor if you don’t want your room to stink of sigarettes. The hotel is located in quite a busy area so I did have some noise issues at night. There is one hotel next door that has a club where they party until 2/3am almost every night so if you’re looking for peace and quiet this is unfortunately not the best place.
We’ve spent a great time at the Sussanna Hotel. We felt the homely atmosphere, the attitude of the staff was like in a family. Everyone was friendly and responsive. All questions that we had were quickly resolved due to the people working at the hotel.
The room was very clean, the breakfast was delicious.
Thanks a lot. If we return to Sousse, we will definitely stay with you again.
I had a wonderful experience at the (Sousse pearl Marriot resort ). Every staff member I encountered, from the valet to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! Thank you! Will recommend to all of my Friends and Family
special thanks to Karim Siyoud ( SUPERVISOR FRONT OFFiCE ) he is efficient, pleasant and incredibly helpful
The Stuff was amazing
Especially Fredj , Cool man he is always smiling and he tries to help you all the time. Great man !
The pool was nice
the room was clean
I like this hotel alot one of the best hotels in Tunisia.
and also I like the 24/24 bar in the lobby !
I highly recommend this hotel and I will comeback next year for sure
Toutou’s love and care for Dar Hkaïem and the guests are clearly illustrated the moment you step on to the street of the house. Tucked away in a quiet, quaint corner, the house truely exemplifies the Tunisian atmosphere. It’s a must stay for Sousse, and the friendly neighbourhood cat is a big bonus for any cat lovers out there ;)
Perfect location. Just 7 minutes away from the train station. In the medina but at the same time close to the beach and to the metro station. There is a restaurant downstairs. I loved the common areas and the atmosphere (it looks more like a hostel than a hotel). They can store your baggage after check out.
I always stay in this hotel during my visit to Tunisia. It is a nice historical hotel in the heart of sousse old City. Also the owner of the hotel is very gentle man and friendly with customers.
For cheap hotels in Tunisia, this is a really good one. Friendly staff. Safe. Clean linen. Spacious rooms.Working bathroom and shower with hot water. No leaks. Also comes with breakfast
