We really liked the historic part of town - the Ribat is beautiful (with a great guide!). The archaeology museum is definitely worth a visit. The souk was an enjoyable pace and you didn't feel hassled. The restaurants were good. Taxis were cheap and easy to find.
City could do with a big clean up and shows clear signs of suffering financially, but that didn't take away from our trip.

I found Sousse to be a great place to visit if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. I was pleased to discover that the local people were friendly and welcoming, which made my trip more enjoyable and memorable.
One of the highlights of my trip was having a hire car, which allowed me to explore the surrounding areas and discover hidden gems such as the castle. It was fascinating to learn that the castle was the location for the popular movie Monty Python's Life of Brian. This made my trip even more exciting and memorable.
However, it's worth noting that if you're looking for a bustling city with lots of activities to do and places to see, Sousse may not be the best choice. From my experience, Sousse is more of a laid-back destination where you can unwind and relax.
Overall, I had a positive experience visiting Sousse and enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas. Thank you for taking the time to read my review!

The area is beautiful.
The area is beautiful. There are so many activities to do there. The transportation system is excellent and very affordable. You can walk almost everywhere really, but if you are lazy like me, you can either use your phone to order a Bolt taxi or just flag one down on the road.

I used Sousse as a base to travel to other parts of Tunisia by train and car. If you wanted a beach / resort hotel to just chill then this would be an excellent choice. If you wanted more exploration of the history and culture then Sousse is a little limited and I think would "do" all the local things in 2/3 days.

Sousse has a lot of history for a not so big town, walks around the winding streets medina is a real pleasure, forget the main way, try following the walls enclaves where people live and go shopping. There are ateliers shops there and you can see what their projects are. Visit the archeological museum, it is housed in a nice building and has a few interesting treasures. Walk on the beach, it is very relaxing.
It was a pleasure staying at Dar Hkaiem! The host, Toutou, is very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the area and very keen on showing local towns to visitors. Dar Hkaiem provides many tours in surrounding areas and car services at very affordable prices. And don't forget to try the delicious, traditional Tunisian breakfast options they serve! Overall, this was a lovely authentic stay managed by a hospitable and trustworthy host who was very accommodating to all my travel needs. Thanks for a great experience :)
Very nice old house at the Sousse medina. Actually, it is two houses united: exquisite decoration and adaptation as hotel, with charming spaces to stay and relax, nice roof with views to the town and a small pool, a small library... And, since it is in the medina, you can easily arrive to the most interesting places to visit. But it is in a very quiet street, silent and far of the noise of the market and shops of other places in the medina. Very kind staff and good breakfast.
Hotel Marhaba beach is in a great location overlooking the beach in Sousse, I could see the sea from my balcony which was very beautiful. The room was a good size although the bathroom needs work as it was quite outdated. There is a lot going on in the hotel such as zumba by the pool and other activities which is nice if you like that type of thing. The animation team were lovely and welcoming and the barman at the pool bar made an incredible mojito.
A gorgeous traditional Tunisian guest house tucked away in the Médina. Our host was lovely, very accommodating and he did everything to make sure we had a comfortable stay. He even let us stay in “Dar Baaziz 2” another guest house just along from the original Dar Baaziz so we could have a twin bedded room as one was not available where we had booked. We could choose any of the rooms we wanted and we had the place to ourselves, which was great!
location in the city centre and 1 minute away to the beach, price is low but This is not a hotel for europeans, This is for algerians and Libyans Thats Why price is too low, lunch for 20 dinar buffet was ok, not good but not that bad, pool was working, and bar of the hotel was decent. the infamous music loud at night it was not a problem, they shutted it down at 23h, lot of Algerians drunk there, they see Tunísia and they paradise
Wish I stayed longer! The hotel itself is beautiful, the room is exquisite, the breakfast is an absolute treat, and the service (especially Linda!). The guide recommended to me by the hotel, Mahdi, was also amazing and I appreciated getting to visit el Jem and the “real” Kairouran during my stay. I can’t recommend this Dar enough; it’s in the heart of the Medina and close to the sights of Sousse yet still relaxing and peaceful.
We enjoyed a fantastic and cozy stay, greeted with a warm welcome. The house's traditional charm in the old town pleasantly surprised me, and I loved the delightful breakfast 😋 and the thoughtful surprise from Toto (thanks!). Wel also enjoyed chatting with the other guests, which added to the overall experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sousse!
The location was perfect and the staff a genuine delight- a tremendous mixture of happiness but without infringing on your personal space. It was clean, always open and there’s a lot open space. Pound for pound the best place I’ve visited in Tunisia so far, a lot of other places could learn from this very professional and organised business.
perfect location. short walk from the train station and right at an entrance to the Medina. They had a sign close by since the entrance is behind the wall. Staff was as helpful as I’ve experienced in Tunisia. hot water in the shower. I would consider staying again if I’m back in Sousse. it was clean. wifi worked in my room.
Good job guys!
I am really happy cause I choose this hotel! Nice cosy room. Nice lobby with some sort grand old fashioned decor, all staffs were very friendly and service were excellent. Very nice animation during all the day. Keep going guys! I would like to thank Madame Muneera for her help and time give it to us.
The hotel is situated in the centre of Sousse, close to Medina and a bus station. There are a lot of bank offices and different stores nearby, for a example, Monoprix. The furniture in the hotel is simple but comfortable. The lobby has very nice design. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help
I would like to thank everyone in that hotel. it was such a great journey. The facility was net and clean. there was no doubt about the professional approach of everyone in that location.
I’ll visit it every time I’ll come back to my lovely Tunisia ❤️
Everything was excellent. The location, the price, the room and breakfast. An older member of the staff helped me make a phone call to a hotel to set up a reservation for another day since I didn't trust my French. Pas de problème.
The place is in the middle of Sousse Medina, the best location to stay at Sousse downtown. It’s an historical mansion transformed into a boutique hotel, lovely.
