Taichung is kinda my hometown, the weather is nicer than Taipei and Kaoxiong. Life expense is a little cheaper than Taipei. It's easy to get to parks, shopping malls, very convenient for travelers to walk around either by buses or on foot.

Taichung has many great cultural places, entertainment and food is top notch as well!
Only down side is the that traveling around taichung is not so public transport friendly as it's so huge!
I did not get to go to quite a few other places with the days i spent there, will head back to continue exploring again!

I teach English to Taiwanese adults and was fortunate to have two of my students (on different days) take me to places they wanted to show me. I think there are many interesting places to visit in Taichung.
Since I was in a car with locals, I can't really say what the public transport is like, but from my view, it seemed like there are buses and metro trains everywhere.

The National Theatre is an amazing building to see, look for the "nose", the "eye" and the "ear", as well as the facial profiles in the butterfly pictures on the walls on 1/F.
Miyahara Ophthalmology clinic is another place to visit in Taichung.

Its a city in transition i want to visit it in 5 years or so again to see where it's at. But probably won't stop here again till then, nothing any other city doesn't offer.
WIth that said..... great place to do a day trip for specific things...
If you have 2 days to spare visit and plan your day so you won't waste time. Restaurants open late, they definitely move at a different speed with many places closed Wed.
If you are vegetarian or vegan great places to eat here. Do Uber eat my Taiwanese friend used it all the time.
Great Museum and right next to the museum don't forget to eat at the restaurant the home of where boba tea was created. If you're into boba its a must-go!

Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei.
Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei. What I like is the stimulation brought by different cultures, rather than the standard plagiarism and imitation. I don’t think other cities are better than Taichung.
It's a vintage hotel and it's quite cool. They offer plenty of complimentary toiletries, which I keep and give to the homeless people in Taiwan. The boss and staff were friendly making sure I got to the parking lot . I really liked the vintage decor and old-school interior. But don't turn on all the lights as you will see tons of imperfections. Thanks for the bigger room. The area is good with lots of places to eat and do things like walk along the river or in the park. Safe to walk around at night.
The decoration of the hotel lobby was wonderful - chic, pop artistic style, and a high ceiling all made the first impression very pleasant. I was welcomed by staff warmly and instructed accurately for the hotel facility. The location was also great as the hotel is very near Taichung Train Station (TRA), and a night market in 15 mins walking distance offers everything you might want to try for local foods.
I like that the hotel is just beside Taroko mall where I had my lunch and supper during my entire stay in Taichung. I love that it is just a walking distance from the train station and Ubus. I appreciate that Taiwan bank is just walking distance as well.
The room was comfortable, Breakfast had wide varieties and on top of that, staffs are knowledgeable and respectful.
I have no idea why the rating for this hotel isn't higher. This hotel seems to have been undergoing some renovations lately, so perhaps the reviews are of the older rooms. Our room was clean, spacious and perfectly priced in a sea of ridiculously overpriced options. Location is perfect. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Taichung.
Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. The room was super clean and cosy. The laundry shop is located straight next to the hotel, so it's super convenient for us to do our laundry. Various selection of food stalls and restaurants also located near the hotel. I will
definitely stay here again if I ever come back to Taichung.
A very aesthetically looking hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms & friendly staffs to make you feel like home despite being in a foreign country! The room was clean, spacious and nice too. Staff shared many recommendations with us and were very helpful. Netflix and Youtube available was a plus too 🙂
I like the room, its small but really comportable. The staff were very nice. The room and the surroundings are clean. I would recomend this hotel to others. Been in other hotel in Taichung but this one satisfy us. 😍 planning to stay there everytime we visit Taichung. 😊
The location was fantastic being right next to the Taichung railway station; the hotel was easy to find and we didn't have to walk far with our luggage to get to it. The hotel had coin laundry facility so it was helpful to have our clothes washed during our stay.
Hotel is located near the Taichung Main Station, about a 5-min walk. There is a bus-stop near the main road that has buses to bring you around most of Taichung city. Hotel offered free breakfast during our stay and there is underground parking available on site.
Best location in Taichung. Not too far from Taichung station. In hotel have water dispenser washing machine(have cost). In front of hotel have bus stop that can catch a bus there. Near hotel have a lot of mart 7-11 family mart and other local restaurant.
Location of the hotel is superb, just within walking distance to Fengjia Night Market. Room rate included breakfast and the overall stay worth the value. Will stay in this hotel again if I return to Taichung.
Front desk staffs are good. From outside the hotel looks run down but once you enter the room, it looks good and super clean. Location just few minutes. Take exit 6 from Taichung Main station.
Walking distance to/from Fengchia night market. Public bus stop conveniently stops right opposite of the hotel, which has bus coming from Taichung train station and city centre of Taichung
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from Taichung station. The family bedroom we had was clean and tidy. It had all the basic amenities and it was a comfortable stay.
I like this hotel because it's near to all you need,I mean it's like near train station, mall, church, mini restaurant, milk tea store, etc..etc.. and they have a great breakfasr!
