Taichung is kinda my hometown, the weather is nicer than Taipei and Kaoxiong. Life expense is a little cheaper than Taipei. It's easy to get to parks, shopping malls, very convenient for travelers to walk around either by buses or on foot.

Taichung has many great cultural places, entertainment and food is top notch as well!
Only down side is the that traveling around taichung is not so public transport friendly as it's so huge!
I did not get to go to quite a few other places with the days i spent there, will head back to continue exploring again!

I teach English to Taiwanese adults and was fortunate to have two of my students (on different days) take me to places they wanted to show me. I think there are many interesting places to visit in Taichung.
Since I was in a car with locals, I can't really say what the public transport is like, but from my view, it seemed like there are buses and metro trains everywhere.

The National Theatre is an amazing building to see, look for the "nose", the "eye" and the "ear", as well as the facial profiles in the butterfly pictures on the walls on 1/F.
Miyahara Ophthalmology clinic is another place to visit in Taichung.

Its a city in transition i want to visit it in 5 years or so again to see where it's at. But probably won't stop here again till then, nothing any other city doesn't offer.
WIth that said..... great place to do a day trip for specific things...
If you have 2 days to spare visit and plan your day so you won't waste time. Restaurants open late, they definitely move at a different speed with many places closed Wed.
If you are vegetarian or vegan great places to eat here. Do Uber eat my Taiwanese friend used it all the time.
Great Museum and right next to the museum don't forget to eat at the restaurant the home of where boba tea was created. If you're into boba its a must-go!

Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei.
Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei. What I like is the stimulation brought by different cultures, rather than the standard plagiarism and imitation. I don’t think other cities are better than Taichung.
sufficient size for the room, toilet is adequate as well nicely built, slightly small but passable good :) comfy beds and pillows, room 708 view of Taichung station, lovely lights at night, good cold AC, very generous sumptuous breakfast buffet. Breakfast staff are really nice welcoming and assertive in refilling buffet breakfast. Reception Staff has good English communication. Many thanks! Cheers Chance Hotel :)
Hotel was super close to Taichung train station. Walking distance to second market. Rooms were spacious and look like they were renovated recently (compared to the last time we were there). There were water dispensers on every floor which was very convenient. Price is good for the location and size of the room!
The staff absolutely made this hotel amazing. They went out of their way to make sure we had a good stay. They helped us book a taxi driver for an 8-hour trip around Taichung and Miaoli. Loved the bath tub! Location is right beside the old rail station which was cute for a stroll to Miyahara for ice cream.
Good location, near taichung main station as well as bus station. A short walk to the train station mall and Taroko mall. Good breakfast spread with menu changed everyday. Drinks at common area is another plus. The staffs are friendly and helpful. thumbs up for this hotel and will stay again.
The location is good. Near to City hall MRT 30m away. Near to Taiwan Bldv with many buses going to Taichung train station, Miyahara ice cream, 2nd market, and birth place orign of bubble tea. Hotel has washing/drying clothes machine on 9th floor. Detergent powder cost $50TWD.
The location was fantastic being right next to the Taichung railway station; the hotel was easy to find and we didn't have to walk far with our luggage to get to it. The hotel had coin laundry facility so it was helpful to have our clothes washed during our stay.
The hotel was located near attractions such as the Taichung Second Market, malls, train station. The rooms were functionally designed, with charging points near beds etc. It offered free parking at a nearby mall.
Location of the hotel is superb, just within walking distance to Fengjia Night Market. Room rate included breakfast and the overall stay worth the value. Will stay in this hotel again if I return to Taichung.
The hotel is great. It’s a 5 minute walk from Taichung Station (TRA). There’s a lot of restaurants and malls nearby for food selections, shopping, and activities. There’s also coin laundry within the hotel.
The location is good, near the famous Taichung Second Market. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Providing parking space just right next to the hotel. The room is compact but very new and comfortable.
Walking distance to/from Fengchia night market. Public bus stop conveniently stops right opposite of the hotel, which has bus coming from Taichung train station and city centre of Taichung
The location is good, the transportation around is convenient, the staff are nice and helpful .The other thing I feel good is the hotel provide free washing and drying cloths service.
High-quality hotel room in a good location close to the Taichung train station. Get the breakfast buffet! Staff is nice and helpful. There is free laundry on-site. Will be returning!
Kiwi Express Hotel is located close to many convenience stores, small shops, and the Taichung park. We enjoyed our stay and wondered around at night. The beds are super comfortable.
Location is convenient, bus right opposite of hotel can reach directly to Taichung HSR Station! Working window is a plus point! Staffs were very friendly & willing to help!
