Taichung is kinda my hometown, the weather is nicer than Taipei and Kaoxiong. Life expense is a little cheaper than Taipei. It's easy to get to parks, shopping malls, very convenient for travelers to walk around either by buses or on foot.

Taichung has many great cultural places, entertainment and food is top notch as well!
Only down side is the that traveling around taichung is not so public transport friendly as it's so huge!
I did not get to go to quite a few other places with the days i spent there, will head back to continue exploring again!

I teach English to Taiwanese adults and was fortunate to have two of my students (on different days) take me to places they wanted to show me. I think there are many interesting places to visit in Taichung.
Since I was in a car with locals, I can't really say what the public transport is like, but from my view, it seemed like there are buses and metro trains everywhere.

Its a city in transition i want to visit it in 5 years or so again to see where it's at. But probably won't stop here again till then, nothing any other city doesn't offer.
WIth that said..... great place to do a day trip for specific things...
If you have 2 days to spare visit and plan your day so you won't waste time. Restaurants open late, they definitely move at a different speed with many places closed Wed.
If you are vegetarian or vegan great places to eat here. Do Uber eat my Taiwanese friend used it all the time.
Great Museum and right next to the museum don't forget to eat at the restaurant the home of where boba tea was created. If you're into boba its a must-go!

Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei.
Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei. What I like is the stimulation brought by different cultures, rather than the standard plagiarism and imitation. I don’t think other cities are better than Taichung.
Hotel's location is just 5-8 min walk away from Fengjia Night market. Hence, its great if you want to live near a night market. Recep staff has been friendly and professional as well. There is also a DIY soak leg facilities at level 8, which is the level that I have been allocated. There are sea salt packs and towels available for your own usage. Their breakfast is more than average. Their dinner buffet is fantastic and great value (if convert to my home currency). Highly recommended! Will return to stay here if I visit Taichung again! :)
Location: Convenient. Just next to the Taichung Railway Station, which was the reason why I chose this hotel, as I had to take the train again the following day.
Bathroom: Bathroom was clean and big enough (considering the room size was small).
Small balcony which you could look outside, although the view wasn't great.
Breakfast: There was a good spread of chinese dishes (rice/porridge, meat, vegetables etc) and international (salad, bread) with coffee/tea/soya drink etc.
Faultless location for us. We took the local train from Taipei (NOT the HSR, which stops at a different location) & arrived at Taichung station, just a 15min walk to hotel. From Sparrow, we could get around easily to Second market, Yisheng night market, Taichung Park, Taichung meatball restaurant and Suncake museum. Staff were patient & kind. Rooms were clean, no musty smells. The eating area in the foyer was really user friendly with a microwave & coffee/tea facilities.
It seemed that the hotel had been renovated. It is not easy to find a triple room in Taiwan. But they provided us with a triple room where we could take a good rest. We loved the beds, couch and Smart TV. Breakfast was a nice light meal. The staff could speak some Korean language, which was so impressive to us. The car parking was so convenient because we could park a car at a nearby parking building for free. In conclusion, this is a nice hotel if you have 3 members.
Great value. It's a small but everything inside is nice. Very modern with upscale feel. Room is spacious enough to open luggages. Excellent water pressure. Bed is very comfortable.
It has a small but very nice gym. Free self-service laundry room is a big plus for traveller like myself. Hotel staffs are very attentive and helpful.
It's very close to the train station and it's easy to get to.
Our room was spacious and clean. Good location, with plenty of eateries and Feng Chia night market within walking distance. The hotel's location is further from Taichung main station, if you're travelling in by rail. This was not much of an issue for us though, as we wanted to stay near Feng Chia. The hotel staff were helpful, also able to arrange transport via taxi for us when we needed it.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and of great value. Room service is also great with free bottle water and snacks refill every day. I ended paid less to enjoy a better stay in this hotel than the one in Taipei. Highly recommended it to anyone who plans to visit Taichung!
Hotel was super close to Taichung train station. Walking distance to second market. Rooms were spacious and look like they were renovated recently (compared to the last time we were there). There were water dispensers on every floor which was very convenient. Price is good for the location and size of the room!
It was a pleasant stay, the hotel is new and the room has everything you need for a short stay. The hotel is nice enough to offer a selection of Taiwanese snacks. Breakfast was good with standard Chinese and Western options, and surprisingly many curry dishes. The concierge is quick to respond to my needs.
Very good location and hotel has decent breakfast but don't expect international 4 or 5 stars hotel brand standard. Can go out for a day tour and then come back to hotel for a short rest in the evening. Fengjia Night market is just around the corner and most of the surrounding shops are opened till 11pm.
Super great budget hotel stay in TaiChung. Will come again.
Very friendly & helpful staffs.
Very clean, fun, nice environment, great location which surrounded with food stalls & convenient stores (walking distance to Feng Chia night market). And also convinently take public buses to other night markets.
this hotel is really close to the Taichong station and is located on a quiet street. There are 7e and FamilyMart just across the road. The hotel has a nice rooftop for your relaxation at night too and enjoy the night view of Taichung. The breakfast was good too, you get to try Taiwan's local food.
The hotel room size is what I liked and the whole place make me feel so homely. The staffs are always friendly and location is superb good walking distance to Taichung Railway Station. Nearby have malls and many eateries.
The location really nice, behind got KFC / 7-11, also really nearby taichung station, walk around 5 mins can reach.
The most important is the bus station just behind the hotel, this is really easy for free traveller.
The hotel is great. It’s a 5 minute walk from Taichung Station (TRA). There’s a lot of restaurants and malls nearby for food selections, shopping, and activities. There’s also coin laundry within the hotel.
Location of the hotel is a short 3-5 min walk from the TaiChung train station. There is also a bus stop situated right outside the hotel. Commuting is an ease from the hotel regardless of the destination.
