Wonderful city to visit for architecture, museums, food, culture and the friendly people. Old and new businesses reflect the history of this beautiful city. Don’t miss wandering the laneways, you’ll always find surprising and delightful places.
Lane 79 was a great place to stay and had great food options all around. Easy for catching buses, using Google Maps information.

Anping sights would definitely take up the whole day.
Anping sights would definitely take up the whole day. Tainan is a lovely place to be with an excellent variety of history, cultural sites, temples, markets, and general fun things to do. Could definitely have stayed longer than 2 full days for a few extra day trips nearby, and to try more of the local things.

Traditional city that almost represents the development history of Taiwan city, including the building, religion and the famous street food. Actually Tainan keeps its unique culture of Taiwan city, then based on the culture attracting a big scale of Taiwan humanities and cultures.

Tainan is known for local delicacies, which we found to be true. The night market is not crowded and you can buy many delicious items without waiting in line. The Chimei Museum is nearby and we enjoyed visiting it.

Tainan was awesome. There is so much to see and do! The free cultural walking trip of the Confucius Temple and other parts of Tainan was amazing (Emma was my tour guide- she was extremely knowledgeable, her English was excellent, and she was so informative). Anping area had a ton of culture, a market, Temples, and amazing food to enjoy. I also enjoyed the Garden night market (different markets are open on different days). It was busy and crowded but there were so many great vendors selling clothes, jewelry, electronics, and more. The food selection was also impeccable. I was only in Tainan for a day and a half. I would have spent a few more if I had the time!

Tainan is an underrated, if not, underappreciated city that withholds treasures of different sorts for you, the traveler, to discover. The cheap, delectable street food is not to be missed, in addition to the hot sunny days, which could be a relief if you happen to be traveling from the miserably humid city of Taipei.
That said, Tainan is best explored on bike/scooter, as many attractions are spread out with quite some distance in between. Fortunately, Tainan's government offers electric YouBikes for rental, which could ease the pedaling by quite a bit.
This hotel was very centrally located and included free parking for cars or scooters. The lobby area is lovely and features free reusable water bottles and drinking water, coffee, etc. The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was nice. There were even lockers for your belongings like they have in the train stations/MRT if you are planning to arrive before check-in and explore Tainan or stick around after check-out. Great peace of mind to have your stuff under lock and key.
Super quaint and spacious! The female dormitory room is very spacious and clean. Everything is clean, which is very important. Not only that, you don't hear the street noise when you're in the building. Very secure and safe. The location is very central to everything: bus, train, shopping, eateries, and night markets. The architecture and the layout is very well designed! And the hostess is super friendly and helpful! Will definitely come back next time I visit Tainan.
I often stay at Tie Dao when in Tainan because it's very affordable and it's just 100 meters from the main station. The rooms are dark and old, but they are clean. The Wi-Fi works well, they provide basic toiletries, there's a desk to use one's laptop. Recently, the hotel is investing to improve: they changed the design of the lobby, they hired young and extremely nice English-speaking staff, they added vending machines.
I liked pretty much everything about the good sized room, and particularly liked the hotel bar, with a shout out to the staff, despite language barriers they went out of their way to provide sample beers to try ensuring I got what I liked. Bars are not common in Taiwan, and to find a well stocked bar with a variety of beers was great ( I did have a recommendation to stay here from a friend for this very reason).
Directly opposite the Tainan train stn (not to be confused with the high speed rail) and a 7-11 so very convenient. Only bad thing as with many of Taiwan’s small hotels is that there’s no lift. Gotta lug your luggages up many flights of steps. Otherwise our room was clean n very spacious, aircon was good (has built in heater as well as humidifier!). They have hot and cold water dispenser right outside the room.
The hotel is in a really good position to visit Tainan (very close to a few main touristic spots and only 20 minutes of bus away from Anping).
The room was spacious and nicely decorated, the bed was really comfortable and we had a lot of commodities included in the price.
There is also the possibility of renting bikes, which is a big plus!
The staff was very nice :)
This is probably the best hotel in all of Taiwan. Clean, convenient and it has an excellent breakfast buffet. It has a variety of options: Japanese sushi/curry, Taiwanese style and Western style breakfasts. The gym is pretty good for a hotel gym.
It is conveniently located across the Tainan station and is attached to a shopping mall.
The managers were kind, friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient to many good restaurants and within walking distance of transportation and interesting sights.
The managers operate a restaurant around the corner where we had some of the best food during our stay in Tainan!
We also appreciate the decor of many plants!
NEAT Hostel was absolutely incredible in a central location, easily walkable distance from cute restaurants and bars. It was IMPECCABLY clean and the owner was so accommodating and sweet. I will most definitely stay here on my next trip to Tainan. I cannot rave more about this place, highly recommended.
The staff were very helpful. They made sure my logistics to and fro business meetings were arranged the night before. All my meetings went smoothly and I will strongly recommend this hotel for business stay to all guests travelling to Tainan for business meetings.
Got a nice and clean area to sleep and you could just spend 3 or more hours to use the B & B public facilities. BTW hotel staff service attitude is excellent which I will back there again if I travel to Tainan in future.
It was very located in the heart of Tainan city and you are literally minutes of walking away from all the good eats!
Hotel has a very homely vibe and room is very spacious. Room provides all you need for your stay.
This hotel is located close to the area of dense population; suitable for business trip and the Taiwan Literature Museum is right next to this hotel. Suitable for take a short walk for break if convenient.
One of the best experiences with Fuward Hotel Tainan. Very nice and cooperative staff, good breakfast with varieties but missing Muslim Halal Food. Very clean and good location.
The room is generally clean and comfortable. Probably one of the best hotels in Tainan. Breakfast buffet was good too as they have variety of foods to choose from.
The location was convenient, close to train station. The front desk was very friendly, she checked us in before 3 pm and let us to keep the luggage in the hotel.
