Sunshine B&B, hotel in Jiufen

Located in Jiufen, 34 km from Taipei, Sunshine B&B features air-conditioned rooms and free private parking.

The location couldn't have been better. I travelled with my elderly parents and wanted to be close to the old street without having to climb too many stairs. The owners were nice enough to give us the only room on the main floor. The room was spacious and the view was spectacular. The room and public areas were so clean and well maintained. The breakfast was also stellar and highlighted the essence of Taiwanese cuisine. From the decor to the quality of furniture and customer service, we could tell the owners put a lot of thought into running the b&b.

I would have rated this a 10 for stay if it was just a tad easier to locate. In saying that, once the property was located, the location was perfect. Host was lovely and highly recommend this place. A very cosy, clean and comfortable stay.

If you don't like crowded areas, Jiufen is not for you.

If you don't like crowded areas, Jiufen is not for you. The Jiufen old street is so narrow that you can only take some few mini steps at a time. If you were to come here, I'd suggest you to book your stay in Jiufen for the night, come in the late afternoon, perhaps go on the night walking tour, and then enjoy the views and Jiufen Old street in the early morning before all of the tourists come flooding in.

We went to Jiufen in January (winter time).

We went to Jiufen in January (winter time). As malaysians, we immensly enjoyed the milder temperatures and the lack of rain during this time, considering we came form a hot, humid country with torrential rain on a daily basis. So, our timing for visiting Jiufen was perfect for us. Jiufen can be quite crowded at times but our stay at night made all the difference. less crowd, magical red lights and the night market was amazing. It was famous for the Amei teahouse but i think Jiufen is more than that. To find gems in other things, I'd recommend staying in Jiufen overnight.

The village is absolutely charming, only need one night here. In the evening it gets very busy but the teahouse (Jiufen teahouse) was very quiet. Lots of interesting food to try. Incredible views. Lots of hiking trails nearby. Easy to get a bus from Taipei there and back (and cheap) - you just tap on and tap off with your card.

As I strolled through the winding narrow lanes, surrounded by souvenir shops, traditional snacks, sweet treats, and Taiwanese cuisine restaurants, I found myself immersed in the charm of an old market perched atop the mountain with a breathtaking view of the bay on the north coast. The bustling market came alive, especially during the late weekend mornings when the narrow lanes echoed with the footsteps of tourists. To savor the experience without the crowd, I recommend arriving early and soaking in the authentic atmosphere. A must-try activity is settling into a cozy terrace seat, sipping on aromatic oolong tea while gazing out at the panoramic beauty of the bay area. The tranquility of the moment adds a touch of serenity to the vibrant surroundings. Accessing this hidden gem is surprisingly easy via public transport. Opt for a bus from Ruifang train station or downtown Taipei, Zhongli train station, making the journey convenient and delightful. With just an hour's travel from downtown Taipei, this mountain-top market promises a memorable escape from the bustling city life, offering a perfect blend of culture, cuisine, and scenic beauty.

    Jiufen was fantastic.

Jiufen was fantastic. If you come to Taiwan and hear about the old streets and food market, this is the best combo of both worlds on all accounts. Parking is an issue, so I highly recommend you Uber or bus or get dropped off. If you do find parking, it can be expensive, but driving in the area is a little tight, but it is doable. Many hotels in area will make you use that parking and then have to lug your luggage up many flights of stairs. If that’s the case, pack light. But if there’s one thing you do in Taiwan, this is it.

Breakfast was simple but filling. They have a fantastic view of Jiufen from their balcony. The owners also take your luggage from jiufen old street to the B&B for you on their motorcycle because you have to go down several small stairs. Even after checkout, they allowed us to leave our luggage in the main room until 4PM while we walked around. When we were ready to leave, we just had to call or text them that we were ready and they brought our luggage back to the Main Street. I definitely recommend.

This hotel was fantastic and exceeded our expectations! The view is worth every single dollar! The staff were friendly and helpful, even when i needed to use google translate, they were still happy and helpful! The room was beautiful and the bed was comfy, but the view is so special. Their breakfast was super delicious as well. We ordered it once and after eating we immediately ordered it for the next day!! Thank you to this hotel for making our stay in Jiufen extra special!

Location is extremely convenient, just a little further in from the entrance of Jiufen Old Street! Host is kind and will provide you a map with recommended shops / interesting areas to visit. Room is quite big, I had lots of space to hang my clothes and pack my things! There was a washing machine and dryer as well. The room also has windows (protected with a mosquito-net-esque metal filter??) so it is well-ventilated (:

Watch sunset at Jiufen Old Street and the views were awesome!. The owners were friendly and kind enough to provide us with a Map (they prepare it by themselves!). The room was comfortable enough for us. Ni complained about it. Very clean. Nearby to 7-11 & Family Mart which was very convenient. Many eateries for non-muslims. Easy access to the bus stop. I will definitely stay here again.

Location : Close to Jiufen old street and Family Mart was just right under the homestay which I found very convenient. Homestay did not provide breakfast but offered coffee, tea and hot and cold water. The day we stayed it was very foggy after heavy rain so we didnot see any view from the hotel so could not recommend wheter it is good or bad.

Just a few steps to Jiufen old street and bus station. Our room is quite small but clean and well-equipped. We love the electric heated mattress, so comfortable. The host was very nice, friendly and helpful, she gave us breakfast voucher using at 7-Eleven, and also brought us some snack in the morning. We communicated via Google translate.

This hotel boasts a prime location near the historic 九份 old street, just a few flights of stairs away. We enjoyed a room overlooking the ocean, although the rooms were quite compact, they were kept clean. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. However, the breakfast provided was mediocre. 老闆 super nice!

The hotel locates right on the main street in Jiufen and is not too far from 7-11 and Family Mart. We had the rooms with a bedroom, a small living room and a bathroom. The rooms have windows but there’s no view. The hotel plays nostalgic oldies music from Bose speakers in the lounge which is quite relaxing.

Lovely morning views while eating breakfast. Close to popular Ah-Mei Teahouse too for those seeking to try it out.

Such a nice place to stay in Jiufen. The view from our room was magnificent. The location was great and walking into the old section of town takes you by temples and interesting things to see. All bath amenities were in the room. Pack light because space is limited in this village.
