Magong is almost the perfect city for a short stay: small and easy to get around, but also has everything you need. For food you have local delicacies that you can't get on the mainland, but also tasty food that you can recognise well

Plenty to do in Penghu and round Magong if you have a scooter. Otherwise there is little public transportation.
Fireworks from April to June a highlight. So well done, the police direct you to parking and it's a short walk to the harbour to find a seat to watch it.
Living Museum was good. Old street OK.

The best way to enjoy Penghu is to rent scooters and explore on your own. We had two days of organized tours and they were great but the best days were when we just lived by the moment. Seafood is incredible and we were there during uni season which was a treat.

Lots to do all around Penghu islands!
Lots to do all around Penghu islands! sightseeing, windmills, traditional villages, sunset at Lighthouse or at Fong guei basalt, several beautiful beaches, quaint little villages, water activities, snorkeling on several different islands, trying different foods (cactus ice cream, brown sugar cake, savory snacks, seafood). And the people are amazing friendly and happy to share about their island! English-speaking can be limited there, but when you look lost or need help (or ask at the tourism businesses) there is someone around who will help that speaks English.
As for getting around, renting a scooter or a car will make your trip much more enjoyable! VERY limited public transportation and taxis cam be hard to find at times and rarely speak ANY English.

Scooter or car is a MUST to get around; local buses are available too, but limited service. 山水 area is very nice for beaches and water activities, but not many places to eat and those available either close early or must book in advance.

I really like the city. It makes me feel like home.
I really like the city. It makes me feel like home. Everyday I treat myself to nice food and desserts. I am not a beachy person, but they do have really nice beaches. Some have coral sands, some soft white sands. There are also many historical and cultural sites. I really like the cactus ice cream. Renting a motorbike is the best way to go around
Alan & his team are just fantastic, so kind and helpful. The hotel is lovely with traditional Greek character. Brilliant location, walking distance to restaurants and a lovely swimming beach. Our rooms were clean, spacious and characterful. Good A/C. Big shower with excellent water pressure. Free WiFi. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast. Nice small swimming pool to cool off in from the hot days. We loved Penghu and especially our hotel. The level of service was exceptional and we highly recommend this place.
I spent two nights on separate occasions. Room was clean and comfortable with everything that I needed for basically spending the night. The front desk was very helpful and arranged airport transfers, as well as renting a scooter and buying ferry tickets. Location is walking distance to downtown Magong with many places to eat, as well as walking distance to the port and new mall. Breakfast is basic Chinese style; if you're looking for more Western style then McDonald's and Louisa cafe are nearby.
i rally liked the location as the hotel is far from downtown and situated not far from Shanshui beach! we had a motorcycle so it was pretty convenient to go around the island ~
very comfortable beds~
the owners are a lovely couple, they helped in offering the shuttle bus, to rent the motorcycle as well as introduce some activities to do on the island (they only speak Chinese though but they didn’t mind go the extra mile and use google translate with us when needed)~
Room was spacious and comfortable, with good Air Cond. The breakfasts were healthy and delicious. The two hosts, Shihbao and Tingen, were exceptional. They went over and above the call of duty to make guests enjoy their experience there. Good location as long as you have a motorcycle or a car. Only 4 miles from Magong City.
Quiet location because it’s not in town Center. Some restaurants within a short walking distance of 2-10 minutes. Only a 20-minute walk to city center Magong where you can visit all the tourist destinations. Fairly new facility with modern look. Comfortable bed. Front desk staff friendly and helpful.
The best thing about this hotel is the location, right by downtown Magong which made it easy to get around. The room is very basic and small. We end up paid extra to move to a room with multiple beds. Breakfast was not offered but fortunately there was a coffee shop a short walk away.
The friendliness of the owners is heartwarming.
It is a new hotel positioned in a few steps of old street, the oldest temple in Taiwan and close to the fireworks festival. Food and drinks close as well. Everything is still perfect as if they opened yesterday.
MAHALO B&B is the perfect place to stay in Sanshui Penghu. The hotel is nice and cosy. The breakfast is really good and the staff is very lovely and speaks well English. They are perfect with young kids. We already stayed twice and we will come back again!!
Amazing room with double bedroom attached so felt separated and gave my son a place of his own to sleep. Loved that. Staff were super friendly and helpful. They helped us hire and and drove us to the car hire place for no cost as well as airport pickup
Very clean including the shared bathrooms. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Lots of different amenities eg toothpaste provided. Could buy snacks and drinks in the foyer. The owner was easily contactable by phone.
