Taichung is kinda my hometown, the weather is nicer than Taipei and Kaoxiong. Life expense is a little cheaper than Taipei. It's easy to get to parks, shopping malls, very convenient for travelers to walk around either by buses or on foot.

Taichung has many great cultural places, entertainment and food is top notch as well!
Only down side is the that traveling around taichung is not so public transport friendly as it's so huge!
I did not get to go to quite a few other places with the days i spent there, will head back to continue exploring again!

I teach English to Taiwanese adults and was fortunate to have two of my students (on different days) take me to places they wanted to show me. I think there are many interesting places to visit in Taichung.
Since I was in a car with locals, I can't really say what the public transport is like, but from my view, it seemed like there are buses and metro trains everywhere.

The National Theatre is an amazing building to see, look for the "nose", the "eye" and the "ear", as well as the facial profiles in the butterfly pictures on the walls on 1/F.
Miyahara Ophthalmology clinic is another place to visit in Taichung.

Its a city in transition i want to visit it in 5 years or so again to see where it's at. But probably won't stop here again till then, nothing any other city doesn't offer.
WIth that said..... great place to do a day trip for specific things...
If you have 2 days to spare visit and plan your day so you won't waste time. Restaurants open late, they definitely move at a different speed with many places closed Wed.
If you are vegetarian or vegan great places to eat here. Do Uber eat my Taiwanese friend used it all the time.
Great Museum and right next to the museum don't forget to eat at the restaurant the home of where boba tea was created. If you're into boba its a must-go!

Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei.
Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei. What I like is the stimulation brought by different cultures, rather than the standard plagiarism and imitation. I don’t think other cities are better than Taichung.
Booked this hotel based on a friend's recommendation - she stayed here last year.
Everything was excellent. Clean modern décor, nice and friendly staff (which is almost a norm in Taiwan), central location - near to the famous Fengjia Night Market 逢甲夜市.
Most of the attractions in Taichung is quite spread out and not in the city centre. We got the hotel front desk to recommend a daily-rated taxi to bring us around and the driver was excellent - great driving around the hilly roads.
Room was very clean and new, beds comfortable. All toiletries were made available. I can see that the owners had put in great effort and detail in making the hotel stay as interesting and unique as possible for guests. Every floor has a different theme and it is very refreshing. Even the lobby decor and furniture were carefully selected. Breakfast was simple but sufficient. Highly recommended. Location is very near to Taichung main station. 2 mins walk away.
The room was spacious, temperature was comfortable and reception staff were very helpful.
The bus stop outside the hotel is only about 2min walk away and it connects to most of the major attractions. There is also a stop that services a few of the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Bus numbers, so connecting from the hotel to other major locations like Sun Moon Lake, Taipei, Taichung HSR is convenient.
This small hotel is a hidden gem in Taichung old town, the Japanese infused design was amazing and very comfortable, you can tell all materials they used in this building is top quality. Staffs are only 1 or 2 persons on duty but they are super helpful and friendly. IMO it’s even better that some old five star hotels, definitely worth to revisit.
My recent stay at a hotel in Taichung was nothing short of exceptional. The immaculate cleanliness, attentive staff, and stylish decor created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The central location allowed for easy exploration of the city's vibrant attractions, making it the perfect choice for a memorable and comfortable stay in Taichung.
Location: the hotel was situated right opposite the Taichung TRA station, so it was easy getting to the train station/ bus terminal. There's also a mall next door.
Staff: the staff are very friendly & helpful. There are also maps provided at the front desk, listing the popular destinations around Taichung and how to get to them.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and of great value. Room service is also great with free bottle water and snacks refill every day. I ended paid less to enjoy a better stay in this hotel than the one in Taipei. Highly recommended it to anyone who plans to visit Taichung!
A very aesthetically looking hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms & friendly staffs to make you feel like home despite being in a foreign country! The room was clean, spacious and nice too. Staff shared many recommendations with us and were very helpful. Netflix and Youtube available was a plus too 🙂
Super great budget hotel stay in TaiChung. Will come again.
Very friendly & helpful staffs.
Very clean, fun, nice environment, great location which surrounded with food stalls & convenient stores (walking distance to Feng Chia night market). And also convinently take public buses to other night markets.
Hotel is very close to Taichung Station and perfect location to travel out via TRA. We kept our luggage overnight here when we travel out to Alishan and Cingjing. It is very clean and updated. It has quad room that meets our family needs. Hotel staff is friendly.
bed and pillows were really really comfy, room bright and clean, and so close to the station! the tv sound system was really good as well.. love it! Definitely the best hotel I've stayed in during my entire trip in Taiwan!
The location is good, near the famous Taichung Second Market. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Providing parking space just right next to the hotel. The room is compact but very new and comfortable.
Very near to taichung station. Just 1 minute walk. Highly recomemded to travelers use normal train not the speed train. Easy klook to pick up at hotel.
