This is my home, I live here. My little apartment is just behind my little office which has a coconut tree growing through the middle of it. We like to live healthily here and we also like to party. We like peace and quiet and we love the sound of waves on the shore and wind in the palms. You can do nothing, or there are beach toys, an inflatable boat and yoga mats here. We have cocktail hour at 6.30 as the sun goes down - try one of our special Zanzibar flavours or a classic old favourite. They say we have the coldest beers and the best gin and tonics on the beach - but I invite you to make your own minds up about that.

When you get to Zanzibar you might feel a little overwhelmed - it's a small airport and a little chaotic getting your visa (if you haven't got one for Tanzania), and retrieving your luggage. Relax and go with the flow, it will all work out. Carry your own bags outside and look for your name on a board - 'Spiderman' our taxi driver will have a HODI HODI shirt on and will drive you the 45 minutes to the north and east of the island where we are located. You'll drive through towns and villages, banana, cassava, coconut and rice plantations, and you will suddenly see the sea ahead.. then it's about 15 minutes till you are here. Matemwe beach is 10kms long, we are situated in the mid area so you can walk for an hour in either direction on the beach to the north and the south. There are a few other hotels, a couple of bars, a kitesurfing place, 2 dive centres, and several private homes and villas, but mostly low-rise and small properties - so far. It's quiet and relatively hustle-free and said to be the most beautiful beach in Zanzibar. Come and see if you agree.
