Jersey City - I would stay in Newport, Jersey City again.
Jersey City - I would stay in Newport, Jersey City again. I've stayed NYC but would only stay in Jersey City in the future. Jersey City is clean, modern and reflects the calmer side of life rather than getting caught up in the noise of NYC. Great transport links to NYC by PATH, ferry and bus.
The shopping mall had some great restaurants and eateries offering rustic bread sandwiches, salad bowls and ramen bowls.
There's an Indian grocery store on 10th Street offering THE VERY BEST Indian food I've ever tasted. It's a must do while you're in Newport.

We decided to stay in jersey city after a day in New York as it was very quick travel and got us closer to Liberty State Park for the next day. To find a hotel with free parking and access to our car was key. Not having to drag your suitcase down the streets from your payed parking spot was a nice luxury to have. Jersey city is only 6 miles from midtown Manhattan and 6 miles from Liberty state park. After the statue of liberty, Jersey city has a KPot which is a must try or go if you've been before! AYCE!!!!

If you want to visit Manhattan every day the PATH (basically a metro, going to Jersey) is the way to go if you will use public transport.
BUT! If you are a foreigner check first how the foreign credit/debit cards work (or better to say how they are not) with the ticket wending machines.... they are funny things and usually do not accept cash.

We actually visited NYC for most of our stay, but it was a nice convenient option to balance the cost of staying right in the city, and easy access into the city. The people in the area (beyond just the hotel staff) were nice, friendly, and helpful. Enjoyed the stay!

For me as a visitor from Europe Jersey City is the perfect place to stay when visiting NYC. On one hand you have this marvelous view of downtown Manhattan - on the other hand you have a lot of shopping options at the nearby mall within Jersey City. Taking a boat trip to Manhattan and back is wonderful. Jersey City is a lot less stressful than Manhattan as a place to stay overnight. I love it here.

It was a great cheaper alternative to staying in NYC.
It was a great cheaper alternative to staying in NYC. We were going to a concert at the Brooklyn Steel pier so with traffic it was about 40 minutes to get there on a Saturday night, but we hung out in Brooklyn for a while before the show. In the morning, we went to Liberty State Park and saw the Statue of Liberty and a 911 memorial (you can take the ferry from this park to the Statue of Liberty) The bathrooms at this park were very well kept and the whole park was big and beautiful. On the way back home we stopped at Wonder Bagels which was crowded but worth the wait. Lots of shops around and it looks like a lot is being done to enhance the area.
What is there not to like, rooms were clean, breakfast was amazing, a laundry room available for use. Two minute walk to the path station and tram just outside hotel if you want go to the Newport Mall or Hoboken.
Staff were amazing especially Monique at the ground reception who helped with our luggage to the car even though it was absolutely tipping down with rain, a big thank you Monique.
Loved the hotel so much we are coming back to stay the last week in November.
For this price it is the best option to explore NYC.
Price includes breakfast (what wasn't written, but always great surprise), it's basic but ok.
There is also free shuttle bus from and to Newark Airport 7.30 AM-10.30 PM - just ask the hotel about that
Hotel is just 5 minutes from PATH station, from where you can easly get to Manhattan.
Room was spacious and comfortable. It's not new, but clean and walls were refreshed.
Wifi was working properly.
The location of this hotel is excellent, with a great view of New York and Jersey City! The service of all the staff was outstanding! I liked how updated the rooms were, the television had Netflix and Youtube Apps so you were able to login with your own account. The decor was amazing, the bathroom has a beautiful shower and vanity over the sink. I had the chance to visit the rooftop xp restaurant as well and had an amazing experience!
The hotel was super comfortable, we booked it to stay close to a wedding we were in town for. Lots of practical little details as USB chargers and multiple light switches for different areas easily accessible from the bed. The location was also great with easy access to the Path train to go to Manhattan and also just a couple minutes from the Hudson River to enjoy the views of NYC and take the ferry. Highly recommended!
Sonesta simply suites location is wonderful because it is just one train stop to World Trade Centre from the exchange place using the PATH. The rooms were very clean and spacious for a family of 4. There is a kitchen with all the facilities which we used regularly during our stay. Lots of eateries all round jersey city. The whole area is very clean with a great ambience.
Great location to city using path trains ..
Nice rooms more than enough room for family of 5 .. two double beds and sofa bed in living room with big telly in each room ..
Bar area nice to chill .. food at hotel is really nice also .. and gym on second floor has everything you need to do a decent work out ..
Super location! Best place to stay if you want to visit NY - right next to PATH train station, approx 20 minutes and you are in Manhattan. And few steps from hotel and you are looking a beautiful Manhattan - the views are magnificent! Very good hotel, enjoyed our stay so very much :)
Location is very good on waterfront of Jersey City, although the rates reflect that. We had the one-bedroom, which was rather spacious, as was the bathroom. Well-equipped for long-term stay, and has option to borrow non-standard items (e.g. water kettle).
I like the price if the hotel and how friendly the staff are. The king size bed is comfortable. I stayed at the Holland Hotel 10 years ago and the quality, service hasn't changed.
The art district was cool, the hotel was interesting and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was really great! Seems like a good value for the area.
