Spent 3 days in Halong, main purpose was to do a 2 day 1 night Halong Bay cruise, which we did.
The weather is not the fault of Halong but hotel, where we stayed 3 nights, staff said that March, April, weather is overcast, a lot of wet fog, quite miserable, which is what we found.
Explored quite a bit of HL, nothing of interest, wouldn’t recommend it and couldn’t wait to leave.

Halong bay is wonderful, but Verdure cruise was overpriced for the service. The food was not all Vietnamese as advertised and water was very limited. We were only offered one small bottle each over the 2 days. In fact what they call their 2 day cruise was actually less than 24 hours on the boat. Take your own alcohol if you like a drink because te onboard prices were outrageous - for example 900000 Vietnamese dong for a bottle of wine that costs 1500 to 200000 on land.

We had looked at many options for sailing on Halong Bay and read descriptions from many sources. Based on what we read, we chose Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise and we do not regret that choice at all because it met all our expectations and more. We felt like royalty the entire time.

Lovely place to visit. Ha Long market is worth a look.
Lovely place to visit. Ha Long market is worth a look. The cruise around Ha Long bay is stunning. I would recommend booking this trip via reception. Cheaper trips are available but the boats don't look as comfortable and food, activities etc are all extra whereas they're included in the one booked via the hotel. An excellent day out.

The overnight cruises, as currently set, up are a rip off.
The overnight cruises, as currently set, up are a rip off. They hardly sail past a strait line from the port where you still can see the city. You see the same bolder up close. And anchore in the same spot with most of the view taken by other cruise ships.
The best way is to stay at a hotel and take a day cruise l, or a few it’ll cost 2-3 times less.

A two day cruise into Ha Long Bay was the absolute highlight of our time in Vietnam. However, Sun World theme park should not be missed. Further enjoyment can be found on the hop-on-hop-off tour bus, once you feel comfortable with the city, use Grab to get cheap taxis. We found some great places to eat around the main Sun World entrance.
Buffet breakfast was excellent with their treditional Vietnams soup. Walkable distance to the Halong bay boat tour harbor.
Free push bike was very helpful. All staff members were very helpful ,but my self-stick remote controller was difficult to find out in side the hotel. How ever it was missing. Hotel location was very good ,because it was not a very busy area. For the swimming pool they have arrange a free transport service. It was very good. Thanks for all staff members. Excellent hotel neat Tuan Chu harbor.
This cruise is a must if you’re going to Ha Long Bay. The food was incredible, the staff was so kind and accommodating, and you’ll find yourself feeling like the luckiest person to wake up with the view you have in your cabin. We did 2 nights 3 days and would say you should do the longer stay. Everyone who did 1 night wished they were staying for 2. It’s worth it and you get more excursions like going to one of the islands with locals, catamaran cruises, and more time to swim and explore.
Wendy, the cruise director, was a joy to talk to and her team made a skeptical cruiser a believer. The ship itself is beautiful and stands as a clear cut above the rest of the Ha Long Bay vessels. The food was very hit or miss but my party and I found the beef dinner option to be one of the best meals we had during our stay in Vietnam. The room was an unexpected highlight of this experience with probably the most luxurious feeling shower I've ever gotten the privilege to experience.
The cruise is a wonderful way of seeing Ha Long Bay. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. The meals were delicious and the staff was very efficient, especially Ha. They organize a few events that you can partake in, if you are inclined. We enjoyed the trip to the Cave, the Island and the Kayaking. We also had a great massage in their Spa. Well worth the expense. We were celebrating a birthday and they were kind enough to bring a cake to the table with a Happy Birthday song.
We spent the first day going to the sunworld park and cable car it was a short walk down to the main street after arriving around 11am. The hotel helped us with booking a 4 hour from 2pm to 6pm 2nd day and a 6 hour from 12pm to 6pm 3rd day Ha Long bay cruise. we are now waiting to head to Sapa around 10pm which will take about a 7 hour drive to arrive around 6 or 7am.
The price was fair and the staff spoke decent English which made everything easy.
The cruise tour was well organized and perfect. We enjoyed it a lot. Food was tasty, room was spacious and the staff was very helpful. Everything exceeded our expectations and made our wonderful time in Lan Ha bay. We also reserved for Hanoi Street Food Tour, which was also very super nice. We Enjoyed Hanoi Street food and learned a lot about Hanoi, Vietnam and local culture from our tour guide. Really recommend you to try this.
Ha Long Bay is definitely worth to see and this is one with max 42 guests so you never feel crowded. Hotel staff was amazing, they always tried to help, serve us during our stay. Tom, the hotel manager informed us on the program frequently and also shared info about the culture & area. He also helped us to arrange transportation to go back with limousine which I highly recommend.
Really good and clean apartment. Really well equipped with washing machine, utensils to cook etc. Situated in a beautiful location along Ha Long Bay. Offers great views of the surrounding being on the 11th floor.
The owner Angela was very helpful and provided us extra items like detergent powder when we needed it urgently even when they were not part of our original booking.
Ha long bay is gorgeous with splendid panoramic views. The boat was luxurious and the food was delicious.
Andrew was brilliant. He was attentive, hard-working, and genuinely cared about providing an excellent experience. He made us feel at home and we are very grateful for that. This trip was the highlight of our entire holiday and we leave it with many fond memories.
The hotel is way beyond what we were expecting when we arrived, given it has a 3 star rating, as well as the price we paid. Absolutely good value for the money!!
Linh was an absolute super star, he booked our cruise round Ha Long Bay as well as transport to the port and back to the hotel. Organisation from start to finish was second to none. Thank you Linh.
BBQ hostel was hotel standard. Superb quality for money. I would definitely recommend. The staff were accommodating and friendly and the breakfast was tasty. Our tour to Ha Long bay was organised brilliantly and pick up was on time. Jane was especially helpful with arranging a bus back to Hanoi. Thank you.
The Hotel is just right to the Port where all the boats are ready at all time to take you to visit Ha Long Bay. The Owner even help me to buy tickets and so on. We feel we are at home because the owner is so kind and friendly. That's all we need so we say it was fantastic to stay in DOMO TUAN CHAU.
We had very nice view of the roller coaster in the amusement park and view of Ha Long Bay. There were numerous eateries within easy walking distance. The breakfast was sumptuous and offered a wide range of choices, mostly aimed at Asian guests.
Lovely clean hotel. Great staff, comfy beds and stunning views of the bay. The location is perfect for people wanting to be within walking distance to the marina where you get the boats from for the ha long bay trips. Highly recommend.
Super friendly staff. The boat is modern with decent amenities. The staff are very helpful and accommodating! Nam was a brilliant and informative host with an excellent knowledge of the history and area of Ha Long bay.
The service was great, and the food was good. The room and bathroom was exceptional! The Ha Long Bay cruise was the best part of my vacation, which included Vietnam and Japan. Its not to be missed!
Very clean and nice hotel very close to the marina. Very convenient for an overnight stay in Ha Long bay after a day trip. The owner have been very nice with us and helpful.
The owners are the nicest people ever!!
The best coffee in Vietnam, hands down.
Location is perfect for the pier, if you’re going for a tour to Ha Long Bay.
STAY HERE!
We stayed here for one night prior to a cruise in Ha Long bay. The hotel was very cheap, so no complaints, aside from the location being devoid of any atmosphere.
