Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

Lots to see and do, interesting museums, design in the waterside area was of a very high standard. Loved Table Mountain, the vegetation at the top was unexpectedly interesting....and would have visited the beaches if I had had more time. Enjoyed visiting the winelands; I have done this in other countries - this trip was particularly well-organised. The map I had missed out a lot of roads so some places were further than anticipated; signposting could be erratic. Hiring a car would have been a benefit but I do not like driving so used buses.

Cape Town is a spectacularly beautiful place with many attractions within reasonable driving distance, and fantastic sightseeing opportunities, Kalk Bay and the Brass Bell Pub, Simons Town and the penguins at Boulders Beach, Chapmans Peak Drive, Hout Bay, Stellenbosch, Franschoek and the many wine farms! All highly recommended!

Cape Town is a vibrant city with the whole range of emotions - from extremely poor to very rich. As a tourist it is best to stay on the beach side of town where the boulevard is simply amazing. Kilometers long, very wide with all kinds of facilities offered everywhere. The exchange rate of the Rand is very favorable, making everything very cheap. Where can you buy a latte macchiato (a good one!) for less than $1.00? People are extremely nice and helpful. The roads are very good. The hop-on-hop-off bus is a very good option that also takes you to Table Mountain.

After our 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Congress + Africa, we were taken for dinner at the water front, where we mingled and discussed business in a relaxed manner. What I didn't like was that our flight was at 06 00 hours so we had to leave for the airport at 04 00 hours. There was not enough time to visit places in Cape Town. They moved us to another room on the ground floor next to the courtyard restaurant, where a loud band was playing it being Sunday afternoon. But they stopped at 6 so no problem. The service and food offerings were good and you can walk, carefully, across the road and watch the waves crash onto the rocks. Probably a good 25 minutes walk to the Waterfront. Take an Uber.
