Previously known as Ar'deCo / Beauchamp Place. Ar'deCo used to be a private residence of the Late Dr. James Leonard Brierley Smith, known as J.L.B. Smith who identified most of the exotic fish species including the Coelacanth, which is now believed to be extinct. Later owned by Frank & Oscar, who called the house "Frankly Oscar", adapted the American Ar'deCo style throughout the entire house. Anita Bekker, the current owner of Ar'deco & Beauchamp Place, renamed the two guesthouses in April 2017, merging both under the same name, known today as On The Estuary Knysna. Anita is hands-on and leads the On The Estuary Team with a soft, gentle yet firm vision. Her softness can be felt in the hospitality, the decor, and the food. On The Estuary is located alongside the Knysna Lagoon as well as the Salt River which feeds into the estuary. As the estuary is dependent on the ebb and flow of the tides there will be times when there won’t be any water directly in front of the B&B (low tide) making it a great time to explore lagoon-side life. Stroll over to popular local restaurants like Muse, Cruise Cafe, and a variety at the Knysna Waterfront - where you can also jump on board a yacht and sail through the Knysna Heads. Knysna is located in the heart of the Garden Route in the Western Cape of Southern Africa.
