The beaches and views from the top of Hoekwil or Map of Africa are too beautiful. The nature walks and general magical feeling of the place makes it an ideal holiday destination. It is close to the large town of George and Knysna with markets available on Saturdays,
You would need a car to get around Wilderness.

One of the most stunning (and our favourite) beaches in the World.
Plenty of good restaurants - great value.
Loved the view from para gliding site but Map of Africa did not meet expectations.
Very restful / having had busy 3 weeks beforehand.
Restaurants - Las salinas; girls 👧 n the square; joplins steak house; pommodoro - all excellent and good value. Las S was our favourite; walking distance; good food and excellent service.

We stayed three nights in Wilderness and that was probably the perfect length of stay. It's a small town, but a very beautiful location. The long beach is nice, if you like that sort of thing. However, exploring the lagoon on an 'eco-cruise' is a 'must' and probably the most enjoyable adventure on our three-week stay in South Africa. Wilderness is also blessed with some good restaurants, 'The Girls On The Square' deserves an accolade, but 'Serendipity' is in a league of its own - one of the best restaurants I've visited anywhere in the world.

This is an amazingly clean and beautiful property.
This is an amazingly clean and beautiful property. It has a lovely pool with sunbeds and seating area to rear of property and the front of the property overlooks the most stunning beach. Little extras in the room make it absolutely fabulous. The hosts are extremely welcoming and friendly as is the family dog Duke. Would highly recommend.

We wanted to chill and switch off which is exactly what we did . The beach is amazing and it was fabulous to walk the beach every morning and hear the ocean
What an amazing relaxing stay in the Wilderness right on the lagoon for swimming, canoeing, bird watching and close to the beach, hikes, restaurants, all adventure activities and the well equipped little Spar.
We loved our excellent, comfortable and super clean accommodation in our well equipped self catering suite. The best was the very friendly and helpful hosts, Nadia and Gert who couldn't do enough to help us with anything we needed, even an early check in.
Direct access from the room to the vast Wilderness Beach through a beautiful sprawling garden with lounge chairs & sunbeds , Sea views from the room, Every single detail and facilities in the room, amazing bathroom, outstanding Breakfast with a view and very nice host!!!
Seriously, there's nothing more you can wish for!
I wish I had more time to stay at the Pink Lodge!! It is way better than the photographs!
This property is beautiful, located right on the beach, and Jemma the manager is wonderful. The breakfasts each morning were amazing, eating overlooking the beach. I went to sleep with the windows open every night, with the sounds of the ocean. Parking was inside the gate, very safe. I also loved it that I could walk to town for the many fab restaurants.
We liked everything but most of all the location right on the beach (definitely one of the best in Wilderness) and the fantastic staff. Tim is absolutely charming and all his team incredibly friendly and efficient. We were there for a week and were sad to leave. But we hope to be back on our next visit to South Africa.
Amazing property with large luxurious rooms.
Safe shaded parking.
Nice pool with a beautiful view over the lake.
Very friendly owners that serve a great breakfast.
Awesome location to discover Wilderness, Knysna or George.
Wonderful location - perched on the hillside, giving you a view of the hills, the main town and the coastline with its sea haze. Tame knysna lourie comes to visit. Self catering room had private balcony.
What an amazing stay, two rooms with a view and direct access to the beach. We had a great experience and very hospitable owners. Definitely one of the best Hotel we visited in South Africa.
We had the penthouse apartment which was spacious, very well furnished and presented and immaculately clean, it was serviced daily like a 5 star hotel room. Our host Ruan was very helpful
Superbly friendly and welcoming hosts and staff in a beautiful small hotel fronting straight onto Wilderness beach. Great room and bathroom, excellent breakfast. Stunning views.
The view, the welcome, the breakfast, the bed. Very relaxing to hear the waves just outside the door. Would have stayed longer but we were travelling through the garden route.
One of best rooms I book in Garden Route. The view to the beach is unbelievable and unforgettable and worth every money you spend . Highly recommended with view to Sea
The best place in Wilderness heights. Calm and stylish, with incredible view from terrace. It was a great experience in South Africa. Thanks a lot to owner!
Lovely and quiet hotel along the river. It is a place with history but very modern. The restaurant on the premises is very practical.
Very good breakfast!
