Longfield House is a boutique olive farm where we have lived for over 20 years. Situated high up on the slopes of the Helderberg, the farm is surrounded by glorious mountain and vineyard views all the way to Cape Point and Table Mountain. Our cottages are furnished in a cosy and relaxed country-house style with comfort and relaxation in mind... some family heritage pieces, painted or cane furniture bring things up to date and add to the 'luxury' feel of each cottage. They are set away from each other in their own gardens ensuring privacy and peacefulness. Outdoor living is blissful with verandas or terraces furnished with tables, chairs and loungers for any time of day eating, snoozing or gazing at the view with a glass of wine to hand. The pool, set in the silvery olive grove is so inviting for a cool-down dip after a day exploring all the Winelands area has to offer. Tranquility, peace and quiet with birdsong occasionally interrupted by a tractor in the the vineyards next door, in a beautiful country setting, yet near to wineries, restaurants and shops... this gem of a property is the ideal spot for a perfect holiday or just a quick pick-me-up breakaway from the big smoke.

Over 20 years of welcoming guests from all over the world to our little piece of paradise in the Winelands of this beautiful country has given us loads of fun, interest and knowledge as we get to know a little about our guests, their interests and where they live. We have many returnees who have become friends as we share our experiences of the world, our separate hobbies; being of old Cape wine farming stock there are long chats on wine estates, vintages and of course the weather(!) and the houses and gardens that we have come across on our own research projects. We love being able to point new guests in the right direction of where to go and what to see in these beautiful surroundings as we know it so well after all these years; it is a joy when they tell us they've had such a great time they will come back... and often they do, or they send other friends or family to experience the joy of the area and Longfield's peace and tranquility in outstandingly beautiful surroundings.

Longfield is particularly blessed as it is situated just a few minutes drive to some of the most wonderful places to visit that the Winelands has to offer. Apart from an abundance of excellent restaurants for all tastes and budgets there are places of real historical reference... the famous estate of Vergelegen is just a few minutes away, boasting 2 restaurants, fabulous gardens and a lovely Old Cape Dutch house to explore. There are the sublimely beautiful gardens of Dylan Lewis's Sculpture Garden... rolling lawns, fynbos lined walkways, bronze sculptures, sparkling water set against a backdrop of towering mountains - a feast for the eye of pure delight. There is our favourite Winefarmers lunch on a nearby wine farm, simple and delicious, a joy to sit under the oak trees gazing at the lovely view across vineyards to the mountains - and no booking required! Many of the wineries have truly wonderful restaurants, let alone fabulous award winning wines, and stunning views and then when you've had enough of the views, there are the markets of all kinds, from fruit and veg to homemade delicacies, wonderful African beadwork and sculptures. Antique shops, museums and amazing galleries and lovely shopping opportunities of beautiful historic Stellenbosch. There is so much to do and see around here - you could be kept busy for weeks!
