Hermanus is a beautiful quiet city. Close to many Shopping Malls and not even crowded.
Our host, Kosie, went out of his way to make our stay in Hermanus memorable. Even concerned about our safety when the storm wreaked havoc in other parts of the Western Cape. Kosie, along with the owner of the accommodation, advised us to stay an extra night, free of charge and to rather travel home when it was safe to do so.
Kosie and Owner, thank you so, so much for concerning yourself about your guests and put their safety ahead of monetary gain. Will definitely return to Hermanus, Voelklip for my next vacation.

We often visit Hermanus and love it there. Great beaches, tidal pools, cliff path walk and views and excellent restaurants too.
Super wine farms nearby and other small towns to explore in the region. A great base from which to discover the Overberg region.

Friendliness of everyone was awesome.
Friendliness of everyone was awesome. Everywhere you went you felt safe and welcome. Very easy to get around. Loved the hiking trails. A must-have is comfortable shoes and clothes for all weather types, because you walk a lot and the weather changes very fast.

Beautiful Hermanus never disappoints as there really is something for everyone. If you like the outdoors, there are mountain and sea activities available. For those who enjoy retail therapy, the town also offers a wide range of shopping experiences.
we had a ocean view room and would highly recommend to go for this, as waking up to the sunrise overlooking the water and seeing the sunset from the bed is really special. don’t think I have ever been to a hotel with such undisturbed views of the ocean. the rooms are large and nicely equipped with a free mini bar (non alco), and over all service was top! breakfast was nicely prepared made to order. it’s located 5-10 min outside of hermanus, so you need to drive to restaurants, but it’s worth the effort.
I was looking for a place with great views and the potential to spot whales right from your room and Hermanus Beachfront Lodge did not disappoint. We were able to see whales while sitting in bed (OK, in some distance, but still incredible!)! There is also a great walking path just a few metres from the hotel to explore the shoreline. Tito was a wonderful host who made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay.
That location is absolutely the best for Hermanus.
The staff were extremely helpful.
They laid on snacks in the bar during the rugby on Saturday evening, which was an excellent idea and we'll supported. Like many other hotel residents we shared a cheese, cold meat and biscuits platter and has enough to skip supper. There were also excellent generous well priced fish and chips, plus meat baskets available.
Amazing little hotel with the most amazing staff who offered the best hotel service I think I have ever received in South Africa. They were extremely attentive and friendly and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The pool area is fabulous with all day sun and the location is perfect for a little walk into central Hermanus and its bars and restaurants.
The rooms were enormous and very comfortable, the dining room was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful especially Michaela and Gaynor. We enjoyed playing tennis on the court which has amazing views. It was such a relaxing and calm hotel to stay in. 10 minute drive into hermanus.
The overall experience was exceptional, starting with the amazing location overlooking the ocean, followed by an amazing service by the staff, They really assisted me in organizing my days in Hermanus - hour by hour. I will defiantly repeat this hotel if I had the chance to visit Hermanus again.
Perfectly located in Hermanus, very central. Rooms were neat and clean very cozy. Beds very comfortable. Ample secure parking. We arrived later than expected, however access to the property was smooth and easy. Extremely accommodating host and friendly.
We liked the balcony looking towards the sea, the magnificent view. It is located perfectly by the trails and by downtown. Hermanus. Special efforts.have been done to build a nice guide in the room for the guests.
The friendly hotel staff allows for early bag drop off.
The room is actually an entire apartment located above a mall in the city center.
Clean rooms with comfortable furniture make this place as cozy as home.
The unit is located in a secure estate about 10 minutes outside of Hermanus. It was very clean and comfortable. Fully equipped with all your home comforts . Free WiFi and full DSTV. Lovely sea views.
Always love coming back to the Whale Coast hotel. Location, quality of accommodation and friendly staff is always something I look forward to when I'm in Hermanus.
I loved everything, was there for just 2 hours needed a place to freshen up as we had a meeting around. Travelled from Johannesburg overnight to Hermanus
