The property was compact but perfectly adequate for our needs. We were out a lot so this was our base for sleeping and as it turned out was very close to friends we were visiting.

Porcupine Walk is a self contained, newly refurbished unit on the ground floor of a split level property. Just about everything is new. The large room has a seating area with coffee table and two easy chairs, a Queen size bed and a kitchenette with counter and bar chairs, fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave oven, glassware, crockery and cutlery plus a barbecue. The main unit has wood laminate floors and a wall heater. Plenty of plug points including USB ports and free WIFI of course. There is a fully tiled en suite bathroom with shower, shampoo and body wash, toilet and handbasin with cabinet. Hand-wash and hand lotion provided. It has a private entrance with terrace and garden furniture for enjoying sundowners after a day at the beach. All bedding, linen and towels, including beach towels and hair dryer are included. Your car is safely parked on site behind remote controlled gates. What makes staying here special is that beaches with safe swimming are a walk across the road, no need to take the car. The world famous Boulders Penguin Colony is a 5 minute walk away. Our resident penguins have been relocated. They really loved it here but were cute but too noisy and messy !
I'm so looking forward to meeting future guests. Chris ( my husband ) and I and our family, have lived in Simon's Town for over 39 years and in our home for 37 so I can say, with confidence, we KNOW the area. Hosting is a new venture but so exciting as I love people. On your arrival you'll find teas, coffee, milk, sugar/sweetener and homemade rusks. If you have any special requests it would be my pleasure to do a little shopping prior to your arrival. Just contact me with a list and you can refund me when here. Chris is a professional musician, now retired but still involved with music. He was with the SA Navy Band as a musician and then as sound engineer before retirement. He's playing bass in a rock band again. Old rockers never die, think of Keith Richards. I am a fairly well known local artist, illustrator of mainly educational books and have also been involved in the music scene here as a vocalist in a jazz band and a duo and then also as a 'One Woman band' playing keyboards and using backing tracks. I also have a little diversion as a gypsy fortune teller for functions which people, especially the ladies, just love. We look forward to meeting you !
Porcupine Walk is ideally situated just 2kms from the centre of Simon's Town and just off the main road to the Cape Point Nature Reserve which is 24 kms further on. The drive there offers magnificent views across False Bay. Just across the road you'll find three wonderful little beaches with safe swimming and also the 9 hole golf links. The world famous Boulders Penguin Colony is a 5 minute walk away. See the penguins, browse through the curio shop and enjoy a great meal at the restaurant there. There are so many activities to do and places to see. Swimming, fishing, sailing, horseback riding, hiking, scuba and snorkeling or shark cage adventures. There are many options for boat trips down at the jetty. Visit the Naval Museum or the Simon's Town museum, see our wonderful historic buildings. There are many great restaurants and coffee shops, Dixies for the best steaks ever ! Visit the gemstone factory or take a Harley Tour around the Peninsula. The Cape Winelands are wonderful for a day trip away. See Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. Picnic under the oaks. We have brochures of all activities and maps of the area for your to look at or keep.
