We picked this hotel for their sustainable credentials and we could see once there that they tried their best to follow a much more sustainable approach. The location is just unique and the views are stunning. We gad tent 14 and it was everything and more we could ask for. The room was really comfortable and the monkeys, lizards and racoons kept us entertained! I highly recommend the spa. The massage was great with views to go with it.

While the hotel and staff were lovely and helpful the common verandah didn't allow for much privacy. The hotel was also at least 5kms from the rest of the town with no shops or restaurants nearby, so a little isolated. But the beach just across the road was a bonus.

Plenty of restaurants, activities to explore, etc.
Plenty of restaurants, activities to explore, etc. For me, It totally depends on your hotel. I’ve stayed in Puntarenas many times, but my trip this week to Hotel Puntarenas Beach was, sadly, my worst hotel experience in Puntarenas.

Puntarenas is only worth the visit if you're gonna take the ferry boat to the islands next to it. The beaches are not great, full of trash, plastic , i guess because of the location and the currents? Not a lot to see or do. Not impressed.

Friendly town with lots of friendly people.
Friendly town with lots of friendly people. Great spot to visit the smaller islands and their virgin beaches. Please visit the light house area and Isla Cocos restaurant. The fresh seafood is excellent and the staff wonderful.
Fabulous location with gorgeous views from the room as well as from the pool and breakfast area. The lower jacuzzi in the forest area is absolutely lovely by day and night, a pleasure to bathe and socialise in the midst of nature. Breakfast was delicious and a good choice of possibilities. The hotel is near to restaurants, cafés and shops with a really good range of food and drink on offer. The room was calm, relaxing, comfortable and spacious with very necessary and effective airconditioning.
Great family that runs the hotel. They are so sweet. When I checked out the owner even walked me to the busstation at the road making sure that I was on the right bus. Also very clean. They are all the time cleaning. When I arrived there was a note with information in my own language. Nice touch. When I arrived they were already waiting for me and greeting me by my name. They are just so nice. Felt very welcome and was able to relax after hiking in other regions.
The property has all the essentials of a hotel without the price of a hotel. The place is within walking distance from the beach. We booked a tour within the property to go to Isla Tortuga, which was very good value for the price. The staff from Puntarenas Bed & Coffee are very customer oriented, helpful and friendly!
Very beautiful, exciting and cosy Hostel/Hotel. Alejandro was sooo nice! He prepare awesome cocktails and gives you a great time at the Aldea Pura Vida. The food was tasty, the rooms were clean and the location is - well, the pacific ocean is across the street, so - perfect.
We stayed in a junior suite and it was a beautiful room with every possible amenity. The hotel is also very modern , clean and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The service at the restaurant was excellent and we would have no hesitation staying here again
We loved our stay at D'Palm Villas! We felt really comfortable at this stunning property. It was perfect for our two young kids to run around and play. With the beach being so close by I would highly recommend anyone to stay here!! Thanks for having us.
The hotel is in a good location although I’m sure 30 or 40 years ago it was a very nice hotel probably state of the art 30 or 40 years ago but now it is just a run down hotel with no bar no casino no restaurant only a hotel, not worth the money
Great place very close to the busstation. The host and her mother were super kind and helpful. The place is very very clean and the beds are very comfortable!
Would recommend to stay here if you need to spend a night in Puntarenas.
Excellent location, friendly staff, amazing on-site restaurant | bar … highly recommend this hotel. The staff made the stay really nice, thank you to, Jocelyn, Maria Jose, Oscar, Francello, Brian, Russell, Katherine and Meilei.
Location was right across the street from the ocean. Next door the stream cascades by. If you know Montezuma, the hotel is right at the start of the waterfall trail. The restaurant/bar on site was excellent.
Easy bed for the night in Puntarenas - still smelled like wet paint in early 2023. Shared bathrooms, good AC. La Perla del Pacifico at the end of the street is an awesome place to spend time.
The location was perfect for the waterfalls, the hotel stored our luggage when we were out for the checkout day, they provided tea & coffee making facs and cold towels on arrival.
